  1. I watched when you posted the other day, fond memories of such a rich cast of characters.
  2. Antenna is currently airing TAC. Jessica Walter is always fabulous to see, but generally speaking, I can't grab the remote fast enough. And what an insipid theme song. "Lovvve is funnn..." Oh shut up.

    Oy! Sounds unbearable.

Was that the day where she said something smart to Joy like, "Does that help you sleep at night?" Whatever day I caught the show last week I thought she was incredibly disrespectful to Joy. I know Meghan is in her thirties, she and Joy are both adults, but I can't help but take offense to a younger person being so rude to an older person who does not deserve it. She sounded like one of those entitled petulant children who think they can speak to adults any kind of way. She did herself no favors. Geesh, I remember her being on the show a few years ago and quite liking her.
  6. I am so tickled by Viki and Dorian riding in the Benz... their shades, no seat belts, Viki playing shotgun driver ("Dorian, I said left!"), and when Dorian makes that turn ("Help me." "We'll make up the time.")... hahahahaha Some of these lines are real doozies: "I gave you an order!" "Clint, come to shore!"
  7. With Atlanta's music scene, characters like Dominique and Brady would certainly make sense. They'd probably get accused of ripping off Empire.
  8. IIRC, 12 and 13 are essentially the same (the return to the scroll post sandcastles) maybe some cast differences, but the theme/titles were revamped in some way every season. I hated the final version of the theme, it sounded so bombastic and out of date. I agree with you, I loved the original. I also loved the two Dvore seasons and sandcastles. I liked how they'd break away, do a recap and return with that strong ending.
  9. Oh wow I didn't know that! I've always liked the timbre of Nicollette's voice.
  10. Noticed that too, yes, cue cards/teleprompter.
  11. I say good for Nicolette! It had to be somebody and I'm glad it's her. I'm happy that an '80s primetime soap ingenue come vixen is graduating into the iconic role, and I'm glad that they cast away from the mold as they have with several characters. An English actress would have been too on the nose, and if we look at the list of actresses before they got to Joan, it's not as if the character was even conceived to be English. My biggest problem with tonight's episode is that Jeff referred to Cecil as his father. And we all know that Sable and Frankie are Monica's and Jeff's mothers, respectively. I wonder how/if this reimagining will handle that. Meanwhile, both of their mothers are first cousins of Nicollexis™ therefore at least biracial. I have a feeling all of that incestuous backstory created by The Colbys will be largely erased/ignored on the new show.
  12. Maybe that picture's not the best example because that red dress immediately reminded me of a couple of dresses Nolan made for Alexis:
  13. The Christmas '74 episode aired the other day and there was a really lovely beauty shot of Anna in her plaid ensemble with a grand, soaring orchestral arrangement of Silent Night.
  14. I loved that show! Wouldn't mind seeing it pop up in syndication again. I can't think of that theme without remembering Jan Hooks' arguably most memorable moment on Designing Women.
  15. I can hardly believe that Donna Mills is playing Miss Daisy, but sure enough. Have any of you caught the production in Burbank?
  16. My earliest memories of AMC are from around '82/'83, and Paul was gone by then. I don't remember him or Ann, or Paul's time in Llanview (Karen takes the stand). But from what I've read, it was Ann's tragic death that led to his leaving Pine Valley. For those longtime viewers, I'd like to hear how you'd compare and contrast Joe and Paul. I wonder if there wasn't enough of a contrast (e.g. Tom and Sean, or Travis and Jack) that AMC felt the need to bring Paul back on a permanent basis. I knew Paul existed but didn't get familiar with his story until someone gave me the AMC scrapbook for Christmas '94. Paul came back for the 25th anniversary that January.
  17. My Uber driver was listening to the Steve Harvey Morning Show. I got a kick out of them using Loving's original theme for their soap satire.
  18. You had me at hello. I think these are the two greatest theme songs of their individual genres.
  19. Messy af! And I think that Bentley truck is homely.
  20. Does anyone know how the show is doing ratings wise for Retro?
  21. This is when I started getting into GL. Alex was pissed that Alan leant Penelope's dress to Tangie.
  22. Sure beats the '80s ball they had the other week on the new Dynasty.
  23. Lol, those tinsely neo-flapper hats were in: I have a childhood memory of someone in primetime wearing one too. Someone suggested it was Fallon, I'd have to see the episode again to be sure.
  24. I'm pretty sure Celeste Holm left on her own accord, tired of the soap grind, or at least that's what my mother told me according to her soap magazines. I remember thinking it odd that she "left her husband behind." If they did in fact fire her, that must have been awkward with Wesley Addy still on the show having to act opposite his wife's replacement. My mom quipped about how Isabelle's face in the portrait with Cabot kept changing. I think I have an episode on tape of when Cabot came back from the dead, plain clothes and baseball cap on a park bench talking to somebody. I'll post it when/if I find it.
  25. Isn't this the actress who played Ina Hopkins on OLTL? When I was in high school, I imagined who else could ever possibly play Erica Kane. For whatever reasons, I came up with Goldie Hawn in a dark wig (wtf? lol) and Anna Stuart. AS based on looks, stature, and the whole diva-vixen thing (I only knew her as Donna at that point). Now seeing her on TD, I particularly see a resemblance to SL, they certainly could have played sisters, Robin Strasser rounding out the three. Tom shaking the [!@#$%^&*] out of Ann in her hospital bed is the height of inappropriate.
