  1. I knew about them trying to get the rights to Felicia, but it surprises me that ABC would want to take on another (low-rated) soap and where would they put it?? I adored the idea of Linda coming to ABC, I wish they'd given her more to do. I hated how they never gave her scenes with Robin. Actually, my big fanfictasy was for Victoria Wyndham to join the show as Dorian's cousin in a s/l where she befriended Viki then betrayed her, Viki and Dorian joining forces to take her down. We got shades of that with Echo.
  2. I know, just ribbing you, you know you're my heart. xo I wonder who we could in fact contact about getting Capitol released somewhere. Someone on YT is offering the complete series but I'd need to learn Italian first.
  3. Geesh, how sensitive of you.
  4. I hate that they got rid of that sexy very Central Park West opening theme. "They" said it was too primetime. Bollocks. It was probably the best thing about the show.
  5. @Gray Bunny yeah, when they moved Swans to early mornings, it was lost on me. I think it came on while I was already on the school bus. It's crazy, because when I was in early elementary and I got dropped off at my grandparents' before school, my cousins and I watched kids programming for no less than two hours on Fox and what is now Fox Plus and CW. It's allllllll morning news now. Same goes for the afternoons and Saturday mornings. We live in a world where network Saturday morning cartoons are dead! Sad. Was she the one with the swan birthmark on the sole of her foot?
  6. YES! Robyn Ross played Brooke and I was devastated when she left the show, lol. In hindsight, she had a mature, patrician quality that belied a girl of fifteen. She's what I'd imagine Iris Cory was like as a teen. Absolutely. He slipped so well into the complete opposite type as Scott on AMC. I have an ep I taped back in the day when Bobby is in front of the class showboating and being all "charismatic" (*eyeroll*) while giving an oral presentation and Anita is giggling and eating it all up and poor Scott is looking on like the dog peed in his Fruity Pebbles. I think Shane would have done well with Jacob Young roles like Rick and J.R.
  7. I watched Swans and Tribes but scheduling/shuffling made it hard for me to keep up with either as a sixth grader. The one teen soap I watched most consistently was Nickelodeon's Fifteen. Every Sunday afternoon after church. I was obsessed with that show. When I met Ryan Reynolds at a screening of Van Wilder in D.C., that's the first thing I asked him about. He played far-from-heartthrob dorky Billy, Canadian accent and all ("What are you talking aboot, Brooke?")
  8. There's the infamous scene where Dorian faked like she was incapacitated and Clint tossed a fake snake in her bed and she jumped up.
  9. Did Viki go off on Larry when she found out about this?
  10. OMG, there was one summer where we rented Labyrinth from the video store every week and watched it every day.
  11. Does anyone remember if there were promos about Iris' return to Bay City? I was just looking at my YouTube page with Carmen Duncan's first episode, and I imagined that an unspoiled longterm fan would've pooped purple when Rachel opened the front door to, "Iris!?"
  12. I remember her being interviewed on ET while shooting the video (atop an elephant). She quipped, "I said, 'I smell another Wind Beneath My Wings !'"
  13. Really? Did someone from the show share this info? In This Life was used in an earlier episode too, I'm foggy on the circumstances. A great song to end AW (perhaps even greater for ATWT) with the lyric, "Let the world stop turning..."
  14. Yes, SL was always part of the standard closing credits crawl, but she got special first/last (and first AND last) "billing" in the opening credits from 1990 til cancellation. That was such a head-scratcher to me and many others when SoapNet aired reruns. We were younger and didn't fully understand what a big daytime star she was in the seventies.
  15. Thanks for sharing. Stunning and gifted, gone too soon.
  16. Carl, I have felt exactly the same way. I've wanted to Tweet her on a couple of occasions but I find her responses unpredictable and she sometimes goes off on well-intentioned people who obviously have trouble expressing themselves, or she simply has their messages misconstrued. Btw, I "ran into you" on YT the other day lol, a Sandy Dennis interview. I did want to follow up on her response that she was never on The Secret Storm. I mean, I'll take her word for it or maybe she plain forgot, but several sources say she played Iris Ocasek.
  17. The tweet has been removed but good Lord did it send me down the Twitter hole reading Tyler's and Rebecca's and Nancy's Tweets. And apparently Robin Strasser is leaving Twitter so I ended up reading countless Tweets of hers and their comments. I'm stickin with IG, Twitter hurts my brain. I find the format frustrating.
  18. I met Gerit Quealy the other day, she played Jacqueline. She came to my play in D.C. She's old friends with the actress who played my mother-in-law who did production work on RH.
  19. Agnes Nixon revived (? I hate to say recycled or rehashed, seems disrespectful lol) rich possessive father Victor/ill daughter Meredith/Dr. Larry with rich possessive father Palmer/ill daughter Nina/Dr. Cliff (neat connection having original Viki, Gillian Spencer as Daisy). Years before the DID s/l, James Mitchell said in an interview that he saw shades of incest in Palmer's obsession with Nina, specifically a moment where he longingly smelled her scarf. He remarked on how the show obviously didn't go there, but it would have been interesting nevertheless. Then of course, OLTL did go there. I believe Carl shared articles re: Pinkerton's firing/Malis' hiring, the show wanted to keep Dorian but felt a recast was essential for any sort of audience acceptance. Earlier, we discussed Strasser's motivations for the role in regards to Victor's death, but even Joe Stuart told her in their first meeting, "It didn't happen."
  20. LMFAO, those Brits were so not ready. I didn't watch the series but I did watch the "David's dead" disaster and was in stitches. What made it so hilarious was that she thought Tiffany would be so upset over Bowie's passing.
  21. I've been meaning to write the gentleman who runs Erika Slezak's fan club/newsletter. He does such great interviews with her. I'd love to hear her thoughts about working opposite her various Dorians over the years.
  22. Thank you so much for this astute and fabulous rundown. It's absolutely criminal that so much of these ladies' work is lost. Very grateful for your memories. Strasser has strong feelings about Dorian shedding tears. Do you remember Pinkerton, Malis, or Carter showing such vulnerability?
  23. Yes, and iirc, when Powell came to town, Viki asked how his dad was doing, referring to him as her "California cousin" (how The Colbys). I really wish I could've seen Joan Copeland (Arthur Miller's sister) as aunt Gwendolyn. @vetsoapfan Please share your memories and impressions of Dorian from Pinkerton, Malis, Strasser. I used to ask my mother questions and Malis was surprisingly void from her memory. And my mom was a hardcore viewer. She did say that Dorian always presented as dark, dowdy under Pinkerton and the glam came with Strasser. I would later read in an interview that that change was Strasser's doing when she took the part and offered her opinions of the character. I think Strasser saw all the fun Looch was having playing a role she essentially created on AW and as she has said, made Dorian an older, richer version of her Rachel.
  24. Barcroft's episodes filling in for Erika Slezak as Viki must still be in existence. To my knowledge, they've never turned up on YouTube. Any mention of Ann makes me think of those pics of Gwyn Gilliss looking so utterly troubled in those photos in the AMC scrapbook.
  25. Looking back, I really like the way the writers linked Dorian and Marty's stories. When Dorian got out of prison and made her splashy return at the club on "Independence Day" (as she cooed), she returned to her penthouse and mused how she (a claustrophobic, remember) now felt the need for more space. They could've easily just given Dorian a house, but having Kiki sell the house up from under Marty and having Joey, looking for summer work, get hired by Dorian to help with renovations, i.e., be seduced... it was all so delicious and woven so well. Btw, Dorian in blue and Viki in red looked fabulous in those 4th scenes. The show did a great photo set of them in their gowns.
