@vetsoapfan or others, did the show honor Carolyn Jones' passing with an onscreen tribute?

I watched that episode with Gillian Spencer at Paley (when it was still called The Museum of Television and Radio) in New York over a decade ago, but this video appears to be someone recording a clip reel from a cast/crew event post-cancellation announcement. My mom was one of those from day one OLTL viewers and she said Spencer's Niki was amazing. Even Slezak mentions in her Archive interview that she'd heard how good Spencer's Niki was and she was intimidated about taking on the role of the multiple.

A couple of my college classmates are experiencing personal highs. Lawrence St. Victor (B&B) and Shay Flake are new parents and Lawrence's Wed-Locked series with Karla Mosely will appear in the L.A. film festival in October. Constance Wu's (OLTL) Crazy Rich Asians continues to chart highly!

Years ago, I worked at a talent agency in Rockville, MD. While clearing through old files, I found the bodyshot and resumé of former Miss Maryland, Tonja Walker. I of course nabbed it and took it home and my stupid father in one of his mindless sweeps threw it away. 😠

For what it's worth, I thought Viki and Sloan were incredibly elegant with one another, all of that camel hair and mink. The General and the Lady of the Banner, undoubtedly Viki's best match with a man of her "station".

That would be amazing! I think I read there was another actress after the wonderful Norma Donaldson passed. Would have loved to see EH with VR, would have been much less interested in seeing her in scene after scene with CK. 😋

When I'm up early on Saturday mornings, I always get into these PBS reruns. Then the credits roll and I realize I'm watching episodes from 11 years ago. :/ Today's episodes were about Patrick being attacked in the shop and Sean getting fingered by Chelsea and Deano.

Denise ("Niecy") hasn't sung with them since the eighties. They faced a lot of backlash from COGIC in the eighties when they gained a lot of commercial recognition and success. Niecy had kids out of wedlock, apparently that's the reason why she split as judgmental eyes from the organization fell down upon her. Similarly, their mother, Mattie, was criticized for singing with them on the Grammys as she was the head of COGIC's music ministry. Essentially, just a bunch of b.s. from power bent fake ass Christrians always trying to keep talented women under their thumbs, meanwhile they're sleeping around impregnating underage girls and sweeping it all under the rug... blah... don't get me started...

And she was the wicked grandmami on GL, I wasn't watching then. When I was in acting school, I asked my teacher, Eulalie Noble, if she remembered Ellen Holly from their Actors Studio days. Eulalie (who did The Doctors, still trying to find her episodes) said, "Yes, oh yes, she was GOOD." Eulalie had a camptastic scenes with Arlo Guthrie in Alice's Restaurant. My other acting teacher, Joan Potter, was classmates with Agnes Nixon, Paul Lynde, and Charlotte Rae at Northwestern. She's passed, wish I'd asked her about Agnes, she only told me stories about Paul and Charlotte and their early days in New York. Joan and Ellen both did Lear, different productions, with Joe Papp.

Like the Lewises, Beverlee was from Oklahoma. That was just her accent seeping. Her tipsy-toeing through autumn leaves Iris/Alex voice was the true affectation. Marj is from Russell, Kansas. Her twang isn't as strong as fellow Russell native Bob Dole, most actors find a more neutral sound. But like Beverlee, while the twang is muted, it's still there.

Although she didn't state his name, Linda Dano said that Joe Stuart was the first person she thought of when she won her Emmy. When they were discussing her decision to leave One Life, he warned her that she'd never play lead like (unnamed actress; I always assumed Robin though now I'm more inclined to go with Jacqueline). So winning best lead actress was her, "Ha! So there!" moment to Joe. I'm about to crack into these Ellen Holly videos. My parents met her in a crowded hotel elevator in White Plains, NY (her home, not at all far from PP 2.0's Stamford location, alas) after they moved me into college. They called me and I didn't have my cell phone on me. 😣 EH was with her family for an event and my mom said without seeing her at first, she heard the voice and recognized it immediately. My mom had bought me her autobio for my (unfinished) senior project on the tragic mulatto archetype of television and film. Meanwhile, Miss Holly and André Leon Talley frequent the same diner. I wonder if they've ever chatted. I would piss rainbow tears sharing the lunch counter with those two.

Wait, so Donna just went along with Marley being raised as her sister and Vicky being given away? I've got OLTL on the brain, I guess I always assumed it was like Viki and Meagan and she was drugged/hypnotized. I do know about the infamous scene of hospital hysteria and the three pillows ("Triplets!!!"), not sure if that was a flashback?

Speaking of Corbin, he'll be starring in Anything Goes at Arena Stage this holiday season.

OLTL also had two characters named Laudine (the name of a writing staff member). The first Laudine was played by my bud Constance Wu, everyone go see her movie this weekend.

Was there much soap press about Carmen assuming the role of Iris? We didn't have the Internet back then and I don't know how many folks read soap magazines. I wonder how many viewers were truly unspoiled and surprised, and if there were commercials teasing Iris's return. I have zero idea, I wasn't an NBC fan at the time, but I did post the videos of Iris's return from Soapnet reruns on my YouTube page.

Was Mac cheating on Rachel when Paulina was conceived?

There were some short audio clips on the AWHP that left me begging for more. Iris lost it, obviously, I so wish I could see those scenes and the whole story with Sylvie.

Today's Miss Beverlee's birthday.

Potomac, Chevy Chase, and Bethesda are the three primary ritzy Montgomery County Maryland suburbs of D.C. They, like the ritzy Virginia burbs of D.C. are primarily Jewish, WASPy, white. Prince George's County Maryland, the sister Maryland County of D.C. burbs alongside Montgomery, has the highest concentration of wealthy blacks in the USA. Prince George's County is where this franchise should have been set. Authentically. Realistically. Some of you may be familiar with the MGM National Harbor where Cher is currently in residence. That's Prince George's County, and it's a lovely ferry boat ride along the Potomac river, or drive on the beltway to go see her. My point is, if Bravo wanted to be authentic and capitalize on the wealthy blacks of the D.C. burbs, they chose the wrong region. I have yet to watch an episode of Potomac but I was just thinking about the franchise as I'm from there and made a post about Capitol a few hours ago (the Clegg, McCandless, Denning homes on Capitol were exterior shots of houses in Potomac). Lynda Carter lives in Potomac and is our biggest local Hollywood celebrity, has she ever appeared on show? I don't think so, but she's a ubiquitous presence at the annual Kennedy Center Honors. When I flew to Florida a couple months ago, she was on the cover of the in-flight magazine at Reagan National.

I think it was her second stint at GL when Marj did an interview where she shared that Myrna was her favorite role. That was before Vanessa, which I think became her favorite as she got to do a slice of all her soap characters combined and really draw upon her comedic background. Marj was for all intents and purposes my first Alex because she was in the role when I really started watching GL faithfully. I was totally transfixed, I loved her, and it was months before the light bulbs went on and I realized she was Myrna and Monica Warner. Thing is, I just love Marj and her Marjness, what she brings to everything she does. I absolutely adore Beverlee McKinsey for the same reasons and I think I have an easier time than others accepting the two distinct portrayals of the character since I basically watched the transition in reverse via tape trade in the late '90s. AFWIW, try as I might, I have a hard time imagining Beverlee McKinsey as Myrna. I'm picturing her in scenes written for Carolyn and Marj and I just can't picture her playing that character beyond the very Iris-like scenes where she's lounging in a dressing gown having Clarissa over for a Pinteresque tea.

Been watching various episodes from the eighties last few nights. That Dorothy Lyman was a trip, it's no wonder that memories of her were etched in my four-year-old brain. Wish I could find the scene where she hurled dinner plates at Ray, I remember watching that on our cousin's VCR as she'd taped that day. Also watched Silver/Jeremy/Natalie/Erica/Goldie stuff. "The role of Noelle is now being played by Claire Beckman" is the first one of those I ever heard as a kid. Anyone know why Rosalind Ingledew Allen left the part? On her own volition or let go?
