Complacency is not remotely an issue. Turnout is historic now. I'm loving the pictures I'm seeing from Ohio.

It's not going to work. A lot of those older voters haven't been able to hug their grandchildren in months. Also @Soapsuds allow me to add my condolences. I lost two cousins to COVID and when my aunt died (natural causes) my mother couldn't go to the service. You and yours are in my thoughts.

I don't know why they are bothering. He doesn't work.

No. I was sick last week and I'm still coughing up a storm. I tried to get a COVID test but the phone lines were jammed. I'm on the mend but I don't want to stand in line until the cough goes away. I'm thinking of taking the day off on Friday and showing up at the BOE first thing.

Yep. That's why I'm not bothered. He's an idiot and none of this is going to help him. As for the press, much like Republicans they only seem to care when they are personally affected and now they are.
-
The Politics Thread
Yep. There's a lot of people in the press not taking responsibility for their own behavior.

I'm just waiting for McConnell to test positive. Of course if he does, he won't tell anyone. Just like Chuck Grassley is just flat out refusing to get tested even though he serves on the Judiciary Committee. These Republicans are going to kill themselves and their families all in service to the cult.

I'm still utterly baffled about what people think he would have to gain from faking it. Biden is out here healthy and campaigning while Trump is in isolation and his own wife refuses to visit him. I don't see what the angle could possibly be.

If he demands discharge his chances of dying only increase. Trump is not even remotely mentally fit to be making his own medical decisions. If he weren't president, someone would have power-of-attorney. Of course everyone in his family hates him too.

Y'all papers are updating his obituary. *evil laugh* https://twitter.com/benyt/status/1312917211464585220

You can control that setting. Go to your account >Account Settings > Signature. You can turn off whether to view others' signatures there.

That's not going to happen. He's not a healthy man. He wasn't even before the virus and now he's on three different drugs including an experimental therapy. Even if they wanted to try the comeback narrative, it's obvious that these people are too incompetent to pull it off. Obviously these doctors are trying to placate Trump instead of heal him and if he's really directing his own medical treatment, he's as good as dead.

I'm wondering, where is Fauci during all of this? He's the only voice in this administration with any credibility. He's the perfect person to address the press and the nation but we can't have him because Donald Trump is a punk.

I wondered. Of course this White House is filled with amateurs and hacks who can't do anything right.

We're going to get so many more announcements over the next few days.

Plus this news simply doesn't help him. He's not going to get any sympathy vote. Nobody is going to look at him catching the virus and think that's a reason to give him four more years. His whole thing has been to play down the virus and claiming "we've turned the corner." Now he's in quarantine and it looks like most of his inner circle is going to eventually test positive. In no way is this good news for Trump.

Another Republican tests positive.

I feel like a lot of people don't grasp the level of delusion that Trump lives in. He didn't intentionally infect himself. He thinks he's invincible. He thinks he has really good genes and the biggest best brain. He simply didn't care about the virus because he wanted his rallies. Even now he must be fairly symptomatic to even admit it on Twitter. Meanwhile this has me cracking up.

What glorious news to wake up to. At least this means no more debates. I was dreading the next one because it was in Miami and DeSantis has pretty much turned that state into a COVID killing field. I now officially want Joe to return to his basement. I know he likes retail politics but enough is enough. The weather is getting cooler and inside spread is going to get worse. I just can't with the idea that this helps him. I'm seeing people talk about how this could get him sympathy votes as if that's even a thing.

I get a lot of phone calls every day but I don't answer them. Maybe one day I will and just see if I'm being polled.

I kind of feel the same way except someone on Twitter brought up a good point: the next debate format is a town hall which means average Americans will be asking the questions. The optics of Trump melting down on or attacking normal citizens will be horrible. Also, that is where Biden excels. His ability to connect with people is his superpower. The contrast will be undeniable.

The FCC is just one of MANY government agencies that will need to be rebuilt. I really want the Federal Elections Commission to also be a priority. There are way too many grifters on the both the right and the left who have been committing egregious campaign finance crimes because the agency has been strangled and can't function.

So it sounds like the debate went pretty much how I thought. I watched for a few minutes but I never watch Trump if I can avoid it and it looked like Joe had it handled.

This isn't 2016 and Joe Biden isn't Hillary. Turnout is through the roof. One million people have already cast their vote. In 2016, that number was around 10,000. Hilary was 2 points ahead of Trump in 2016. Biden is 10 points ahead of him now. Biden is polling better against Trump than any presidential challenger in the history of modern polling. There is no real media narrative about Biden because none of them stick. There's no comparison between this race and 2016.

I really wonder whether Trump will show up to debate tomorrow. If he does, he's going to be an even bigger mess than we could imagine. That article strikes right at the heart of his narcissism and image he has trafficked in his whole life. All Biden has to do is say "Now we know you aren't as rich as you claim to be," and Trump will freak out. I don't intend on watching in real time but I'm sure the clips will be interesting.
