Guiding Light Discussion Thread
Thanks. I'll definitely try to find as much stuff from 1989/1990 as I can before moving to the rest, while also doing earlier stuff too. This was my mom's show in the 70s/early 80s, so I've always wanted to give it more attention. In the meantime, I did one of those 2000 episodes. Are those episodes edited/cut/not full? Because the running time certainly doesn't add up. Whoever that Danny guy is, I love him. Good actor, pretty good in his scenes with Michelle, and hot on top of that. I thought he and Michelle were adorable, although he seemed to carry more of the weight. Is that guy Tony his brother. That stuff was really crazy with the way he was dancing, completely unaware that the other lady was crying.

HBO's Looking
He probably should have told the truth but I wasn't surprised the least bit that he didn't. As far as he knew at that point, Kevin was still keeping their relationship hidden and could potentially just end it all the next day. And here is Richie, the man he still has feelings for, and there's a chance he could say yes. I can at least understand why he did it. It's only later that Kevin made progress.

HBO's Looking
Great second episode. I really love Kevin & Patrick together (and their talk about the card game and Take That!) and I thought the ending, with Kevin's dance, was completely adorable. Patrick is definitely falling in love with him and it is scaring the sh!t out of him. It's always enjoyable seeing Patrick in panic mode, and Groff is so f-cking sweet and charming. His reaction to asking Richie if he's seeing anyone was adorable. On the other hand, Richie and Patrick have SIZZLING chemistry. Just a ton of that apart-but-always-loving-each-other wonderfulness that I want to see a lot more of. Lynn and Dom's scene was great. I could totally feel the awkwardness of discussing a hook up with your open partner and they played it perfectly. YAY, Doris is getting some! Woot woot! Agustin keeps sinking lower and lower. I felt bad for him, I have to say, especially the part where he ran into the acquaintance that has been seeing a lot of Frank. And then I made the mistake of watching the preview and it PISSED ME OFF. They were just getting to redeem Agustin. PLEASE don't let this go the way I think it is, because Agustin is dead for me after that point (unless, by some miracle, they really pull it off). The show is in a really good place and it can only get better. I pray the ratings improve.

Y&R: Old Articles
That's true! Just a little bit of mindfulness towards the future (as I'm sure the backstory was designed towards building story for later) that led to 8/9 years worth of story (with breaks). You just don't get that anymore. I have always loved the prospect of Jill/Ryan, because the two had a very interesting working relationship/friendship. You're right, a ONS would have been great, although I don't quite see it ever developing into anything longterm or serious. A shame, indeed. I don't think it was necessarily a mistake, as it was the very tragic outcome of a huge storyline but I also would have loved to have seen what a marriage to Victoria would bring, and the drama that could come out of that. Although his death did lead to only the saddest scene in the history of Y&R forever and ever and ever (lol), it also did leave Victoria to have to deal with Diego....

HBO's Looking
OUCH! Looking premieres to 183,000 viewers, down 45% from its season 1 debut. Hopefully, tomorrow will see ratings rise since the show won't be opposite The Golden Globes. http://deadline.com/2015/01/hbo-ratings-girls-looking-season-premiere-togetherness-1201348361/

It's been really interesting sort of watching THE TALK from its inception through its growth.

Emily and Victoria's reaction to being forced to live in the Grayson manor together was AMAZING. Utterly hilarious. Yeah, guess they found his replacement!

I knew Victoria's reaction was going to HURT.

I knew all the positive change was too good to be true! He sure did. I think what they did with him on his final episode was great. And Emily VanCamp gave great reaction. Looking back, I'm not sure what else there was left to do with Daniel but I'm still heartbroken over this.

That's exactly how I feel. They have a more normal relationship, the actress is great with the craziness and CH is fantastic in all of Louise's hallucinations. I just love everything Louise SO much. I thought I knew were this story was going but I didn't. I still want her to continue her obsession with Victoria, though. Making those collages was hilarious LOL

It's great that they brought back Conrad for flashbacks (Henry Czerny gave a great performance) and that they used the Sarah story to help change Daniel. I never expected to like Daniel & Margaux so much and Karine Vanasse has done her best work on this show following their break up and her pregnancy. She now called Daniel to tell him they can be better together and I fear tragedy will strike....

I am LOVING Louise & Nolan's friendship, even though it surely can't last...!

Wow. That's sort of surprising considering how fast it happened. LOL at her having trouble reading from the Teleprompter. For some reason, that sounded shady.

Yes, I always wanted the Deluxe edition, too I love Speak Now but couldn't even finish listening to Red. Maybe I'll give it another shot some day. WOW. I did not expect Style as the third single (or perhaps, I was hoping it wouldn't be). Not sure how happy I am about that but it does seem like a predictable choice, regardless.

Louise is LIFE! I loved the scene where she was talking to her mother only for us to realize it is only in her mind, and then trying to kill Margaux. Happy Margaux was able to save herself and that she then threw her drink on Daniel's face. YAS! LOL at Nolan buying himself a business at a million dollars over asking price just to console himself. Wish I could do that. I have really enjoyed that it took a long time for David to find out who Emily really is -- actually, that ought to have been a season-long thing, but today's network writing can't support that -- and the scene in which Emily tells David is fantastic. Great reaction from the actor. But Victoria's electrocution is a bit WTF, especially since they showed the whole thing at the beginning of the episode and ruined the surprise for the end.

HBO's Looking
I totally expected him to be Richie, even though the coincidence was just too much for me. That way, the moment they revealed it wasn't was great. I like that it was meant to show how much Richie is still on Patrick's mind. Doris is absolutely hilarious. There's good reason they are upping her role in the show. I can't wait to see more of her. "Hanging with you guys is not good for my vagina!" ALSO, the fairy that popped up in front of them in the woods on the way to the party? DEAD!
