Knots Landing
Actually, the McKenzie house would cost you a bit over a million dollars today: https://www.coldwellbankerhomes.com/ca/granada-hills/16972-crystalaire-pl/pid_39199775/?fbclid=IwAR0aPxkN6GlZ_VHexqJQLH78eXkupxl8oAZdG7KH4q5bvLlwJDrbVEdmNuE Either way, the reruns for the prime time soaps were lousy, hence why they produced so many episodes while they were still profitable.

Ryan's Hope Discussion Thread
Let's be real, this is still the case today. Any time a potential "lead" (especially if they're still considered for romantic pairings) change their appearance in a noticeable way producers and showrunners freak out. Just look at the [!@#$%^&*] Freddie Smith got for his weight gain and how his storylines changed once he started fluctating in weight; it's just that they're being less vocal about it these days.

Get ready for a Samantha-less "Sex and The City"...
The Carrie Diaries were going there in its second season by introducing Samantha, but obviously it was cancelled before they got to the part where Carrie meets Miranda and Charlotte. I guess this sequel could open with Samantha's funeral.

Peyton Place
Looking at it more closely, it wasn't. The movie was shot in Dallas and the original Peyton Place set was at 20th Century Fox studios. In the movie it's clearly not a set, so I assume they just found a square that looked similar. Here's a contemporary shot of the OG set:

Strange Paradise
It's actually not the actors fault - it's the set designers: Seems like an odd change, but maybe there was some time between filming the pilot and the second episode?

Strange Paradise
I've started watching this since I'm finished with Peyton Place and it feels like an appropriate companion piece to Dark Shadows. Already in the second episode there's an inconsistency with when Jaques was born - in the first episode he's born in 1760 and died in 1789, then in the second episode that's suddenly changed to 1660 and 1689. I'm not sure if it was originally a mistake by the set designers or if they just changed their minds and decided to pull him back a 100 years randomly. Too bad "only" the first 130 episodes seem to be online and the last 13 week arc isn't. I wonder if it'll ever be reuploaded to YouTube again? The first 130 episodes have been up for almost 10 years now.

Peyton Place
It did look like the same square, but the interiors were entirely different.

Peyton Place
Watching The Next Generation and I can see why it failed - the concept of Allison's daughter coming to town isn't a bad concept per se, but it does rely too heavily on people having watched the original series while at the same time changing important details such as Matthew suddenly being a female and named Kelly (which was Jill's baby's name that she tried to pass off as Allison). It's a shame because it seems like Peyton Place would've been ripe for a revival in the 80s (especially with Barbara Parkins as a HBIC), but the execution of this is horrible.

Peyton Place
Oh wow, Murder in Peyton Place is horrible. Why is Norman suddenly married to Jill? Why is Stella Chernak suddenly a super villain kidnapping Jill? And the remade flashbacks where they end up calling Joe Chernak "Joey", which never happened on the original series.

Peyton Place
I just finished the series and am now watching Murder in Peyton Place... what a mess and I'm only a half hour in! Dorothy Malone clearly couldn't be bothered acting sad over Allison dying.

ABC: ‘All My Children’: Kelly Ripa, Mark Consuelos Developing Primetime Version
I thought Star was better than the concurrent seasons of Empire tbh.

ABC: ‘All My Children’: Kelly Ripa, Mark Consuelos Developing Primetime Version
I doubt they'll pick up any story threads from the past incarnations. They'll pretty much have to make this viable for people who've never watched AMC in the past or have any pre-knowledge of the show to get into; there might be slight nods to past storylines, but that'll be it. ABC Signature is a production studio owned by ABC, not the actual network itself. I assume they're producing the pilot.

The Doctors Discussion Thread
Santa Barbara was Dobson Productions / New World Television. It was last aired in a few places in Europe in the mid-00s, so I don't think it's impossible to license, but RetroTV might only want half hour shows?

DAYS: Behind the Scenes, Articles/Photos
I suspect the reason Tommy was so sidelined originally was because they already had two Horton males having big stories in the 70s (Bill and Mickey), so I suppose they felt Tommy wasn't needed. But yeah, once Bill started having less of a presence, they could've started writing for Tommy again but by then they had lost interest in the Hortons.

227 meet Days!
Christ. I knew they were going to get ahead eventually, but if they're already shooting March they'll be back to eight months ahead in no time. I guess it's sensible from a potential shut down perspective, but ugh. Also, I think she's about 20 years too old to be playing Wendy

I'd say he does.

Peyton Place
Yeah, I was mostly talking about when Mad Men was at its height. But a modern Peyton Place could be what ABC needs - it's on brand for them and maybe it could revive their Sunday line-up, or they could put it at Wednesday at 10PM.

Peyton Place
I was surprised it was never even brought up during the Mad Men craze - instead of ABC doing Pan Am, they could've done Peyton Place set in the 50s/60s and had it on after Desperate Housewives. ETA: now that the mouse owns 20th Century, maybe it would be an opportunity to bring it up since they now own Peyton Place?

Peyton Place
So, I've been watching this since early this summer and finally reached the point where a lot of characters leave (Martin, Eddie, Connie, Elliot and Leslie leave within a short period of time), supposedly due to budget cuts and a bunch of new characters get introduced (Joe Rossi, Jill Smith, the Russells and Susan and Rev. Winter). I'll admit that the show is losing me a bit after being completely hooked for the first 400 or so episodes, so I can see why the show was struggling because it is a rather jarring rehaul of the canvas. It was nice to see Julie back for the wedding and Hannah Cord reappearing, but they had a blink-and-you'll-miss-it appearance. Dorothy and Tim are still appearing in the opening credits and had a very brief telephone conversation in the last episode I watch (440), so maybe they were trying to trick viewers into believing they weren't permanently gone in order to ease viewers into the new characters? Susan Winter is a bit of a disappointment to me tbh. When she was first introduced I had almost hopes of a proto-Sue Ellen type of disgruntled wife mess, but I guess that's not the game Peyton Place plays. I wonder if Jill Smith's baby Kelly was originally supposed to be Allison (apparently Kelly appears in the reunion movie?) - I kind of got the implication that there was potentially going to be a paternity issue with Allison being raped by Jack Chandler, even if they never would've said it out loud, but it was changed midway through when they realised they had to give Connie and Elliot a reason to leave Peyton Place.

DAYS: Behind the Scenes, Articles/Photos
Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if they just didn't realise it happened - the big story was the breakdown and then Laura appears for like two episodes where they claim she's well and she just disappears. It's such a small detail that it would probably be easy to miss, especially in the days pre-internet.
