Loving/The City Discussion Thread
I loved Burke Moses in the role of Curtis. I also liked the two actors you mentioned above.

Another World Discussion Thread
I am not postive if this storyline was written by Ms. Nixon or Mr. Cenedella, but I would love to see the storyline in which the housekeeped/nanny was trying to poison Pat Matthews Randolph. Just as Mr. Cenedella followed Ms. Nixon and the characters were in place, Ms. Nixon's left the Bible for The Guiding Light after she left to write Another World. Subsequent writers used this Bible for many years following her departure. And, Mr. Cenedella, when creating Another World:Somerset showed that he could create and write very well. To me, it was perfectly created. I never saw his work on Another World, but I was introduced to him when he was writing Somerset.

Young Doctor Malone
Actress Lenka Patterson, who played Faye Banister on the NBC/Procter and Gamble soap opera, has passed away.

This perfomer would have been good in that role
Who are Brooke and Amanda?

I would LOVE To See This
Stephanie Braxton was wonderful as Tara (on All My Children). Although Karen Gorney is my favorite, Ms. Braxton may have been the best of the four actresses who played the role.

Tailor Made Roles
Wouldn't that be a "tailor-assumed" role rather than "taylor-made"?

Edge of Night (EON) (No spoilers please)
Actor Patrick Horgan (Ansel Scott) passed away this morning. Actor Patrick Horgan (Ansel Scott) passed away this morning. His wife shared the following on Facebook: This morning in the wee hours, John Patrick Finnbar Horgan left this world. His death from heart failure was peaceful. This was his favorite picture of one of the happiest times of his life as he sat in the garden of a house we rented in Ireland, holding a can of Harp beer in his hand, watching James and his cousin Olivia at the ages of 4 and 5 cavort in the stream that ran below. He lived the life he wanted right up to the end and was spared much suffering for which I am so grateful. He will be missed by many but his legacy will live on in a website that his sons James and Christopher will get up and running soon. On the website will be a recording of his reading of Finnegans Wake, one of the crowning achievements of his over thirty year career of recording books for the blind. RIP my dear Hargoo, let flights of Angels sing thee to thy rest.

to Nicholas Blair: Your suggestion that Caroline McWillams replace Susan Sullivan as Lenore is an excellent suggestion. Thank YOU for mentioning Susan Cameron! I never saw her on Another World, but I really liked her on As the World Turns. I have been dismayed over the years that her As the World Turns role seemed to be end of her career.

Sharon Gabet was a recast. The role of Raven was created onscreen by the late Juanin Clay.

Guiding Light Discussion Thread
Augusta Dabney, whose first soap opera roles were on NBC in Young Doctor Malone and Another World, played three different characters on As the World Turns. She then (which I don't exactly remember) played the mother of Dr. John Hale and Larry Hale on Love Is a Many Splendored Thing. She then created the role of Barbara Norris on The Guiding Light. I remember the Hale family from Love Is a Many Splendored Thing so well, but I really do not remember Ms. Dabney as the mother.

Lynn Adams was playing Amy during the baby shower. Jada Rowland was playing Amy at the time of the birth.

A World Apart
I only got to see the last few weeks - not as much as Nicholas Blair. The performers I liked were Kathleen Maguire (later on One Life to Live), Clifton Davis, Jane White (The Edge of Night, Search for Tomorrow), and James Noble (As the World Turns, The Doctors).

Guiding Light Discussion Thread
I have been wondering why Augusta Dabney (Barbara Norris #1) left the show. The show placed in the role Barbara Berjer (From These Roots, As the World Turns). I also think that The Guiding Light and Procter and Gamble missed a golden opportunity for tie-ins. Barbara was a cookbook writer, and Procter and Gamble, at the time, owned Crisco, Duncan Hines, Jiff, and Folgers (and later Pringles). The company could have offered recipe booklets by Barbara Norris obtained by request or even a full cookbook to be sold in the bookstores. Sometimes one of the character of NBC's Hidden Faces would cook dishes, and viewers could write to NBC for the recipe as a promotion for the show.

"Secret Storm" memories.
Laurie had been one of the "other women" who was in love with a married woman. She was not a villianess, but she did manage to get Ken away from Jill. This was possibly the first time that I had seen the other woman gain the man she loved as a husband and they became a beloved couple. I remember Betsy von Furstenberg from the show and remember thinking that she strongly resembled Eileen Fulton of As the World Turns (who she later replaced). I read here that she was the sister of Dr. Neeves (Jeffry David Pomeranz, Keith Charles), but I really remember very little of her place in the storyline.

Edge of Night (EON) (No spoilers please)
His films roles were mostly with the opposite sex. I do think that he may have made some same-sex films. One of his costars(or maybe producers) was Bo Derek. How to Survive a Marriage on NBC had in its cast Lynn Lowery, who had appeared in a X-rated film called Sugar Cookies. But, also in the film was Mary Woronov, who starred on Somerset.

Logan was very charming - at least Logan #1. Logan #2 (Tom Tammi) did not possess any charm (or the writers were not giving him any).

I recently heard a tape recording of Amy's baby shower. In the episode, Lynn Adams was still in the role of Amy.

Paulette Breen (Claudette Flax Montgomery #1 on All My Children) would have been an excellent Kimberly Harris on Ryan's Hope. And Susan Platt-Winston (Claudette #2 on All My Children) would have been an excellent Anne Tyer St. Cyr Davis Martin on All My Children.

Edge of Night (EON) (No spoilers please)
It was People magazine which mentioned that Karen Gorney had been interested in assuming the Nicole role. She also did attend the cast party, so I thought that she must have had some connection to the show. Also, when Maeve McGuire was leaving the show for the first time, no decision had been made about how she would be leaving. Judy Lewis (The Secret Storm, Kitty Foyle, and writer for Search for Tomorrow) lobbied to join the show as a recast Nicole. (For some reason, I think that her castmate on The Secret Storm, Mary K Wells, may have learned of the upcoming departure of her former castmate, Maeve McGuire, and gave encouragement to Judy Lewis to inquire about the role.) Also, Maeve McGuire did appear in the Six Degrees of Seperation film. She was not the only performer from The Edge of Night to be cast in that film. Carolyn Groves (Betsy Brown in 1963) and Vince O'Brien (Judge in 1964-1965) were also in that movie. Coincidentally, Ms. Groves and Mr. O'Brien also appeared on Dark Shadows. (She as Victoria #3, and he as Sheriff Patterson #?)

I love hearing about the auditions and, to a lesser extent, the first day. I am glad these questions are asked.

As The World Turns Discussion Thread
I remember when the Hughes family recieved the news of Will/Pa/Grandpa Hughes' death. Carol Demming Hughes Stallings answered the telephone, and Mrs. Kopechne/Hughes informed Caol or his death. Carol then informed the others. What I do not remember is an on-screen funeral for Pa. It seems natural that there would have been one, and I guess that I missed it. Was one shown? Older perfomers Santos Ortega and William Johnstone (Judge James Lowell) were dropped when the show was expanded to a full hour. The reason given was that the older performers may have not been able to stand a show that had doubled in length. However, at some time in the 1980s (after I had stopped watching the show), Judge Lowell was brought to the show. Later, the actor did pass away. Was there any acknowledgement of the judge's death? When Ethel Remey died (but had not left the show before her death), the role of Alma was temporarily recast. Then, Alma departed to take a lengthy cruise.
