Dynasty Discussion Thread
John James, Gordon Thomson, and Jack Coleman have been doing a three man show where they talk about Dynasty and last week Dame Joan, Maxwell Caulfield, and Pamela Bellwood joined them to watch their show in Los Angeles. As it was John James' birthday, a cake was presented, and of course Dame Joan got to cut it. There's often been discussion about the various 'camps' in the Dynasty cast, but there was never any doubt that those in this picture got along very well.

RIP Helmut Huber
It's very interesting that Liza had responded with a simple and elegant 'Thank you' to basically every single comment about Helmut's passing and then she decided to post that one. Estrangements happen in families and some are trivial and some are healthy and some are neither of those things...this type of display is just sad.

ATWT LEGEND KATHRYN HAYS PASSES AWAY
I was never a regular ATWT viewer, but if you’re a fan of daytime television, you knew Kathryn Hayes was one of the greats of the genre. Class, elegance, and warmth. May her memory be a blessing.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Absolutely agree re the RHONJ fashion lewks for this reunion. Jennifer easily looks the best and they're all dressed beyond tacky. Not a flattering look for Dolores who always looks great physically (clothing taste aside). Teresa's outfit it just horrendous and the idea of her walking into a mirror is true to life. Absolutely. Like Maya Angelou said, when people show you who they are, believe them. The first time. Kyle has been showing the audience who she is for more than a decade now and every single time she proves herself to be a terrible person. My RHOBH Trailer Thoughts: What a trailer. It delivered. Garcelle is going to be an MVP - she is not afraid of Erotica Lame one little bit. Diana is going to be a villain and I don't think I'll like her by the end of the season. I felt a little sad for Rinna when it comes to coping without her mom like @Taoboi said. They demons are turning on Kathy...but they are so stupid to underestimate her and think she won't triumph. Sutton is probably going to have a messy season. Erika is going to come across so poorly it's not even going to be funny. The new lawsuit that names her and basically describes everything at Girardi & Keese as a Ponzi scheme is wild.

B&B April 2022 Discussion Thread
I think killing off Finn is a grave mistake. A character not related to a core family is what B&B needs more of. However, I think Kimberlin’s performance was excellent and that scene with Sheila brushing her hair like a maniac was original and smart and creepy.

RIP Helmut Huber
No, they sold their Hamptons house about 6 years ago for $20 million. They’ve always lived full time in Garden City on Long Island - the same town Susan grew up in.

Exactly what I was thinking. The last few years Kyle has looked especially great but she has done something and it's tipped her over the edge.

Josh Griffith interview from SOD: a whole new YR
Alden laid the groundwork for that. She had Jill drinking a lot and right when Jill dumped Sean she had this great scene where Jill says she doesn't want to be some old woman whose trying to be with a man she can't keep, then reaches for a decanter, withdraws her hands, looks in that gilded mirror in the Chancellor living room, and cries. It was only after LML that this bizarre 'St. Katherine of the Boardroom' character emerged and Katherine was now depicted as some savvy businesswoman when she was really a bored, vengeful socialite. It's very bizarre writing. You won't convince me that Natalie Minardi Slater or Janice Ferri Esser wouldn't like to take a crack as HW.

RIP Helmut Huber
Here are two videos that highlight their relationship and how important Helmut was to Susan. Theirs was an enviable marriage where they were true partners who backed each other up. I hope these kinds of memories give Susan great comfort. For Harper's Bazaar, where Helmut and Susan cook: Her Emmy win, where she said he'd been with her every step of the way:

RIP Helmut Huber
There is no spouse of a soap star who had anywhere near the relevance of Helmut Huber who was Susan Lucci's husband since 1969 and died peacefully on Monday: https://deadline.com/2022/03/helmut-huber-dead-susan-lucci-husband-manager-was-84-1234991029/

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
No, I don't think it's a bad move because mixing newbies with the established vet housewives was not working. However, I think we will see Bravo cast younger, 30 - 45 tops. And that may alienate a lot of viewers because seeing mature women, with established lives and histories, onscreen is what drew a lot or viewers in. SLC has proven that being a younger demo can work - but I wonder what that will look like in New York. If this is Gallery Girls 2.0 Bravo is shooting themselves in the foot.

YR actress returns (spoiler!!!)
A nicely done promo and they picked good clips. It's interesting to see how Susan Walters embraced going grey - when AD left there was talk about ageism, so it's refreshing to see her looking fantastic, but also her age. Absolutely correct. When AD played Diane the character got mercilessly screwed over by Victor and Nikki, and then used by Jack and Brad, and then humiliated with her pregnancy. You could understand why she used the power she had to strike back. When SW took over the role she moved into the Jack & Phyllis triangle but again the way Phyllis treated her you could understand that they were an even match: neither one was good or evil. Hopefully the writers find shades of grey for her.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
This RHONY news has me taking a slightly different take: 1. It provides Bravo with the opportunity to do what it has wanted to do for years, a la Frons at ABC Daytime: de age the cast and cut salaries. You can bet this cast will be markedly younger than the existing cast - and a helluva lot cheaper. Bravo has tried and failed to do so over the last few years because the generations and OG's don't mix. 2. It provides Bravo the opportunity to dump Ramona and Eboni without breaking a sweat. Andy's comment about Eboni (if she's interested and her group meets casting goals) essentially excludes her. The last thing she would be considered is a beloved OG, so I think that's the end of her. Ramona could fall under the axe as well and nobody will be the wiser. 3. Ultimately, it will breathe life into Peacock, which is important for NBCU. Ultimate Girls Trip was a 'smash hit' per Andy and I expect RHONY: Legacy will be an equal or bigger hit. On the other hand, I have my doubts about the RHONY on Bravo being able to catch an audience unless they give it a serious rest and relaunch with a media blitz.

YR actress returns (spoiler!!!)
One of Y&R's saddest scenes. Jess and Jeanne knocked that scene out of the park. That they undid Philip's death was just appalling. There definitely were loud rumblings about Ed Scott and Kay Alden being in a feud about the character and one of them won (I suspect Ed Scott) and Donnelley was fired. After that, Diane stayed well out of the Newman universe and was attached to Jack & Phyllis. I'd never heard anything negative about AD (and she was invited to one of Jeanne Cooper's last birthdays which was hosted by Lee Phillip Bell) and although AD will always be my Diane, Susan Walters did a good job, and I welcome the character's return. I haven't watched in a while but I'll tune in to see her.

I'd be interested to see how Shannon and Heather would look had they swapped outfits. The problem for Shannon is she chronically wears that are too tight and one or two sizes too small.

These are some of the most basic looks we’ve seen in years. All that’s missing is a Sky Top. Noella looks ill.

Lu has spoken to Page Six about it to get ahead of the story. Bravo should be filming this mess now: https://pagesix.com/2022/03/17/drunk-luann-de-lesseps-kicked-out-of-gay-piano-bar/

BRAVO: Vanderpump Rules
I hope the answer is BOTH. Their marriage has been on shaky ground for years and frankly they never should have tied the knot in the first place but do I want to see it implode on camera and see Tom Sandoval ride in on a white horse to Schwartz's rescue? Absolutely.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
This reminds me of RHOV's Jody selling 'vintage' (aka second hand) Hermes bags at her store. LVMH and their comparable designer brands do not retail in small businesses. They control their distribution with an iron fist. And rightly so. Imagine being one of those people who paid for a fake Chanel from Melissa's store - they're probably seething. I wonder if any will pursue refunds from her. Melissa ought to have known that she wasn't retailing Chanel - what sales rep was she dealing with that would have made it look at all credible?

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
SLC Bad episode for Lisa Barlow. She can't defend her rant against Meredith and each time she tried she just looked more foolish and sloppy. That she 'might have got the numbers wrong' about Cameron and Mary's church is pretty appalling because it radically changes how people can perceive Mary. I get the impression that production may not enjoy dealing with Lisa, hence the hot mic moments. Yet again Jen Shah was likeable. I certainly get the impression that Meredith and Heather and Whitney have been sharing notes as the season aired.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
I respectfully disagree. I sincerely thought Heather was trying to include Ryne and make him feel comfortable and not silenced because Jen was a drunk mess and was not handling the situation at all. The scenes did make me wonder if Ryne is potentially neurodiverse. He did not seem to be picking up on conventional social cues.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
NJ I am not viewing this season as team vs team because I think although there are overlapping issues, there are individual distinctions: Teresa: truly, one of the dumbest hypocrites on television. Teresa actually said that no one should be judged based on their past...yet she hung Danielle Staub's past over her head for a decade. Teresa demands blind loyalty but is loyal to one but herself. Luis loves the camera and he's put on that mic pack, so for Teresa to try and insulate him is hypocrisy at its finest. Jennifer is hurt and humiliated but the psychology of Bill cheating has not been fully resolved for her. She identifies Margaret as 'the other woman'...but she's not. As Margaret herself said, she's not the other woman, she's Bill. That is probably where some of Jennifer's anger comes from and she hasn't figured it out yet. Dolores wants to get along with everyone, and generally succeeds in doing so but she plays all sides to keep her own personal peace. That said, that's what adults do when a fight has nothing to do with them. She has a real friendship with Teresa and a real friendship with Margaret. I think she can find Jennifer and Melissa amusing and she tolerates Jackie. Jackie sort of wants to be the big dog in a fight, but she's ultimately not cut out for that kind of confrontation and really should stay well out of it. Margaret has no problem just blurting things out and being confrontational. The producers would love that. However, I do think when it came to Luis that she's doing good Housewifery and making sure that his insane video is addressed on camera. She is also not afraid to let it all hang out to an extent, which makes her harder to attack, which infuriates Teresa because Margaret is much quicker than she is. Melissa and Joe could have (and should have) let the 'crook' comment go and it would have died a long time ago. But I think they realize it's part of their storyline and Melissa has never liked Jennifer, so it's convenient to have conflict with her. What Melissa and Joe aren't wrong about is Teresa does not back them up when she expects them to back up Luis. I am enjoying this season immensely because there's a lot of different angles to the conflict and I think there's still a lot of genuine fondness between this cast.
