  1. Was just thinking about Ellen Lowell Stewart and the number of people close to her that died. 1. As a young woman, she lost her father Jim suddenly. 2. Then she marries Tim, the father of her child but he dies leaving her a widow. 3. Then Betty Stewart, adoptive mother of her son dies 4. Her best friend Penny's husband Jeff dies in a car crash. 5. David's housekeeper Franny dies and she is accused of murder. 6. Her stepfather Doug dies suddenly. 7. Penny's 2nd husband Neil dies 8, 9, 10.Daughter in law Liz, and stepson Paul both die and a few years later her son Dan passes away 11. She is widowed for the 2nd time when David dies. probably a few more could be included. Ellen probably had a selection of black outfits at the ready.
  2. Thanks for clearing that up. Jeanne clutching Beau...we know what that was about! The Chancellor living room. Which characters in that photo never actually set foot on that set? Stuart and Jennifer? Brad? Lorie? Anyone know for sure?
  3. Never seen this photo before...is it photoshopped?

  6. Radio Mirror August 1952 What Ever Happened To . . . Olive Stacy, the girl who first played the role of Connie Thayer on the television serial, The First Hundred Years? (The part is now played by - Anne Sargent.) The strain of doing a daily camera show, with the long hours of rehearsal, was too heavy for Olive, so she resigned her role. She has done nothing professionally since, and at the moment is back in her home town, Rochester, New York. This summer, Olive plans to tour the Eastern part of the United States with her sister, Frances Klute, who will be shooting scenic spots for the Eastman Kodak Company. Frances is one of their top color photographers. Incidentally, the story that Olive had married, and was expecting a baby, is untrue. This was erroneously printed in many newspaper columns about the country.

  9. The clip of Jo's commercial for council is a nice tribute to Mary Stuart. Nice that at that point the show was recognizing Jo/Mary and her legacy when later regimes seemed to sideline her. Interesting that they ignored her longest running marriage to Arthur, instead talking about her being a young widow and then mentioning her marriage to Tony. The Corringtons were doing a good job of integrating the old and the new, but then the show began dropping too many characters Jo marrying Martin seemed, on paper a good way of integrating her into the new family on the show but did anyone like Jo and Martin? In the scenes where she was showing off her wedding dress, Kathy and Ellie were talking about her new romance as like a fairy tale and Jo was agreeing but Mary played it like she thought the reality would be different(which it was) It seemed doomed from the start, which was unfair to Jo. I think viewers would have been happy to see her in a satisfying marriage, not without it's challenges as she tried to be a part of a new clan, but overall a good match. Instead Jo became a nag and a drag. Where and why did that all go wrong?
  10. 1939 Irna Phillips and partner Carl Wester took out an ad promoting their serials Guiding Light, Road of Life and Woman in White as well as the following Springtime and Harvest The Journey Back This Is My Life Experience of a Lifetime Star Dust Springtime and Harvest did make it to air in a test run in limited markets.

  12. I can't believe that SB would expect any financial aid from 'fans' through Patreon. The guy has had steady well paid employment for years as well as 'side hustles'. If he is not financially secure by this point then that's on him. Anyway the whole Patreon thing bugs me full stop.
  13. And Bunim, in her Afternoon TV interview at the time, said one of the changes at ATWT would be to introduce 'key lighting' to highlight faces and reduce shadows.
  14. Yes they marriedand left Henderson Matt was played by Robert Phelps husband of Jill Farren Phelps. Karl Light and Patricia Roe played her parents.
  15. Those 70's scenes are definitely a cut above the ATWT eps of that era. Sets look classier and better lit. Kim's apartment from that time on ATWT looks cheap and the lighting is stark. The women's makeup looks garish. It looks like Love of Life also had better production values in the 70's.
  16. So cool to see Jo's kitchen. The 60's b&w with Marge and the color 70's with Melissa show the same kitchen with some changes in layout. Guess Jo decided to update at some point. I wonder if the changes were made when they went to color. Was that 68? Jo was married to Tony in the Melissa scenes, so he must have moved into her house. Did she stay there until she and Stu moved to Hartford House? The first meeting of Sam and Jo. This must have been 65? I think Arthur died in 66. In the Xmas credits of 77 you can see Hope Busby as Liza and Meredith Orr as Tina. Never seen before.
  17. Jackson Chase sounds so fake. Another mystery to be solved...
  18. Dina Abbott on Y&R in 2017. Really thought the ship had sailed on her after years of absence and plenty of times when she could have been brought back eg John and Katherine's funerals. Even though it was ultimately a waste of that character, they got several years of story from her return.
  19. Hey Victoria, thanks for alerting us to that. Amazing find! Never before seen clips from the 60's and 70's. Just proves that there is stuff out there.
  20. Bill Bell's Days was way campier than anything Ron could attempt. The beauty was that it worked on a number of levels so we laughed and cried at the same time. Kinda like Douglas Sirk melodramas of the 50's.
  21. GL Roxie Shayne. Reva hung on forever and they introduced Cassie. Even Rusty got a return but Roxie was never utilised. Was she even mentioned?

  23. With so many comings and goings over the years, changes in direction and theme, a lot of characters get lost in the shuffle, never to be seen again. Who were some characters that you were surprised to see again, considering so many are forgotten? I'd have to say Guiding Light bringing back Meta Bauer after more than 20 years was a big surprise, considering that the Bauers were no longer the leading family and she was pretty much unknown to most viewers, as well as being an older character,at a time when the emphasis was on youth.
