This perfomer would have been good in that role
They were big shoes to fill. It seems Phoebe Dorin was eased in for viewers to get used to her. But she was written out sometime in 1971. I wonder when exactly?

A question regarding Joe Gallison. He joined Where The Heart Is in March 73, a month before RTPP debuted. So was Steven Cord not part of the original cast? When did Joe/Steven come on? Joe was a 'big name' in soaps having been very popular as Bill Matthews on AW and playing Tom Edwards on OLTL. So what was the deal with Joe joining WTHI and leaving soon after? Did any of the mags at the time make mention of this?

Rita McLaughlin Walter AS THE WORLD TURNS Carol Deming Hughes Stallings Andropoulos Frazier 1970-82 She might have joined in 69, and was definitely off the show at some point before returning April 72. Irna brought her back when she returned to the show as I believe she created the character.Which makes me think Carol came on late 69 before Irna left. Hopefully someone can verify this,- Search For Tomorrow Discussion Thread

It was in the Sept 20th 1972 issue in the News from New York section 'Joanne Tate, a role played for 21 years by Mary Stuart on Search for Tomorrow, will wed her third husband on Fri (22) show. The ceremony will be performed by cast member Bruce Minnix, who is officially empowered to do the same in Cape May,NJ where he is the real life mayor' They listed Minnix incorrectly as a cast member and stated he performed the ceremony so wires were crossed along the way. What puzzles me is why Minnix would have to write the ceremony. Wouldn't the official writers be able to whip up that scene? It's not as though it was the first wedding on the soaps.- YR Fall preview
Nate was a blank slate under Mal. Once the recast happened Griffith has had years to develop Nate.- YR Fall preview
Had Nate been set up as a hot shot egotistical surgeon who for some reason is fired from the hospital or chooses to leave because he feels hard done by - then Nate feeling he is well qualified to be a business leader. would play. But Josh doesn't bother to set these things up.- Y&R September 2022 Discussion Thread
Agree. Good post.- BOLD/YR: Crossover episode coming September 26th
I'm sure Melody is happy about being away from the Newman clan. She does look better . The dark colored suit and hairstyle is much more flattering than some of the hideous outfits she's worn recently.- Y&R: Former OLTL actor joins the show

I recall NBC trumpeting that Passions was strong in the 13-17 demo and tried to claim that this cohort would keep watching as they grew into the desirable 18 + demo. Conveniently ignoring that what you watched as a teen doesn't necessarily translate into what you would want to watch as you grew older. If Passions had have gone for a more serious gothic tone, it might have done better.- Search For Tomorrow Discussion Thread
Thanks for clearing that up. Variety reported it in a way that indicated he was the one performing the ceremony. That article lead me to a fascinating NY Times report about his involvement in the preservation of historic buildings in Cape May.- Y&R September 2022 Discussion Thread

Feb 77 ABC piloted a Starsky and Hutch spinoff 'Huggy Bear and the Turkey' Huggy Bear and a strait laced white guy open a detective agency. It was aired as an episode of S&H but subsequent episodes ignored that plot and Huggy Bear resumed his former position in the show.- Primetime ratings from the 70's
The thing was those 4 sitcoms had been around for years and in the case of The Jeffersons in particular had been shunted around the schedule in many timeslots and was at one point #49 for the season. Then CBS put them all together and it was ratings gold. The problem after a few seasons was that there was no room for fresh shows and they began to age. The Sunday sitcom lineup was dying and Murder She wrote took the first hour and by next season Crazy Like a Fox the second hour and CBS Sunday sitcoms were history. - Soap Hoppers: The Soap Actors And Roles Thread
