I think April 22, 1994 pre-emptions were coverage of Richard Nixon death.

2024 Daytime Emmys Live Discussion Thread
Let's keep it real here, the Daytime Emmys stopped being relevant when Susan Lucci's streak was over. With only three soaps left on the broadcast networks and four acting categories, the only purpose of the actual show is for CBS to fill space in their summer programming.

Lauralee Bell has aged really well. She doesn't look over-surgeried or over-injected compared to some other actresses of the same age range.

Marcy Walker was offered a part on B&B around the time she was offered GL but for whatever reason she chose GL over B&B. I think the part on B&B she was offered was recast Kristen Forrester but B&B in 1993 had too many females in the early 30s age range and not enough storyline to go around plus by the fall Bradley had taken over. Perhaps Marcy Walker dodged a bullet there.

Re: Ron Raines, I still can't figure out how a virtual unknown actor to daytime audiences (but not to musical theater fans) was cast in such a pivotal role under JFP's watch. My feeling is JFP wanted to cast one of her friends as Alan but the friend was not interested and turned down the part.

ALL: Short lived Headwriter stints
Days three definitive eras. I had no idea there was so much writer turnover in the 1983-1990 supercouple era.

Ratings From the 90's
I think this was Y&R highest rated week of the 1990s. The big event this week was Cole learning Victor may be his father and the scene at the ranch in the rain where Cole tells Victoria that they may have the same father.

VI return was the same week that JFP was first credited as EP, that's why I count him in the Friend of Jill list. That whole era from the aftermath of Maureen's death to Nancy Curlee leaving the writing team was way too much Buzz, and for me it was a chore to get through. I didn't think much of Mark Derwin's acting when he was on Y&R, so I was surprised that he became so popular on GL. Remember 1993 SOD Awards he got Hottest Male Star over Antonio Sabato Jr. and was nominated for Lead Actor at the 1993 Daytime Emmys.

Y&R June 2024 Discussion Thread
Hahaha I can't believe you're checking for Joshua Morrow. I just can't get past the whole overgrown frat boy persona that's just so ridiculous at his big age. Yeah the story is silly but EB is keeping the show going. I'm not getting the sense that he's phoning it in and riding out his contract just to collect the checks.

@JAS0N47 Thank you for the info re 1976 pre-emptions. Looking back in this thread, that means 1977 was the first year CBS had pre-emptions for US Open tennis. Also from this thread, Christmas 1979 was the first CBS pre-emption for an NBA game. CBS last pre-emption for an NBA game was Memorial Day 1990.
