ARTICLE: Canadian Broadcaster CHCH Drops ‘Beyond The Gates’ From Schedule, Replaces Soap With Repeats Of ‘The A-Team’ (EXCLUSIVE)
No, Bold is on regular CTV. The American analogy would be CTV=CBS, CTV Drama=Paramount Network.

ARTICLE: Canadian Broadcaster CHCH Drops ‘Beyond The Gates’ From Schedule, Replaces Soap With Repeats Of ‘The A-Team’ (EXCLUSIVE)
It's not going to be on CTV after Bold, it'll air on a cable channel they own as @janea4old pointed out. CTV airs a cheap Canadian View knockoff after B&B that they'd be loath to get rid of because of CanCon rules (the networks have to air a certain % of Canadian shows per week). The most likely way it played out was CH gave notice it wasn't picking up its option, then CBS offered better terms to Bell (CTV/Crave, etc. owners) than they offered last year.

This seems like an upgrade or neutral at worst, even if they just air the first 6 months for now. Crave is owned by CTV, Canada's biggest network, so there's a chance that at some point it can air after B&B on the main network. The CTV2 network of stations is another possibility. CHCH at this point is only relevant for its local news in the Hamilton/Niagara Falls area. Outside of that, it's biggest primetime shows are 20/20 and America's Funniest Videos. The most current shows in its daytime lineup are Matlock & Coach. Off topic - the Crave release Errol linked to it stated that all episodes of 90210 are coming in September. Did they finally clear the music rights? I saw complaints that when it was on streaming before that full episodes were missing, including the finale.

ARTICLE: ‘General Hospital’ Sets New Season Highs In Key Demos, Ranks No. 2 Among Soaps, Tops ‘The Bold And The Beautiful’
Is GH's week over week 63% gain in W18-49 a record? Not counting asterisk's (pre-emptions, Olympics, etc) of course.

B&B: August 2025 Discussion Thread
Katie telling Will to keep his drunken haze a secret was so out of character. It's not like he didn't have another parent (Bill), relative (Brooke, Donna) or co-worker (Ridge, Daphne) who could have given him that advice. Even Sheila gave better advice to Luna. I hope the catalyst for Hope sleeping with Liam is Carter telling her that the guy who has been badmouthing/saying she's a bitch for the past year was chosen as his best man. Why not go all in and ask Grace's ex-husband to be a groomsman too.

Excellent point. Bizarre that a 6 month old soap has series low in W18-49....yet still beats the top soap in that demo on 2 days in that same week. Last week could be rough for CBS too due to the Monday pre-emptions and the Atlanta affiliate switchover. It could be outdated information, but BITD CBSD was apparently strongest in the South (with ABCD strong in the East and Chicago), so I'd guess that Atlanta is likely its strongest of the top 10 biggest markets.

B&B: Old/Classic Discussion & Articles
Gotta say, 1991 is an absolute banger. Easily the best of the first 5. Not only is it pretty balanced, but characters' airtime seems directly correlated with how interesting they are (Brooke/Stephanie on top, Thorne at the bottom). One quibble is Felicia during the Jake/Macy pairing. I really enjoyed the actress/character before that, but my god she is awful in her confrontation scenes with Macy. Is this a Colleen Dion thing, or did she just not have chemistry with Bobbie Eakes? The only other show I've seen her in was AW and I don't remember her in any triangles save for a scene or two of playful banter with Vicky when she was casually dating Ryan.

All: Characters who became young grandparents on soaps
Wasn't Sami Brady an under 40 granny?

B&B: August 2025 Discussion Thread
I guess they already packed the surgery scar makeup for the new studio before they filmed this episode. Will saw the text from Elecktra - is he going to think he had sex with the co-worker who was flirting with him at the party?

Until the bottom line I thought you were referring to masked Will.

B&B: August 2025 Discussion Thread
LMAO, Bell bending over backwards to keep the longest running (only?) Asian family ever on soaps is proof he hates POC? Li is many things, an indifferent mother is not one of them. None of her shady actions are that different than what Stephanie has done. Poppy is no more a predator than Rick or Ridge. Luna has been written into a corner, but the show clearly values her as it is finding ways to extend the character's shelf life while accommodating the actress filming other projects. A luxury given to Sheila but not to other psycho's like Morgan or Ally. IMO, the Nozawa's (especially Li) are the best new characters since Quinn & Wyatt. What's the alternative, not letting Black actors perform in juicy scenes? It would have been funny for Grace to slap and back and say "what do you have to be mad about, your life got better from all this."

Fortunate timing for Bold that its Italy remote aired during a heatwave.

Phone rings Ridge: Doc I've missed you. How's your week been? Taylor: Wonderful! I've spent it telling every woman that Nick's banged that he'll always be true to Brooke. Gotta go, Bridget's here!

Li nursing her homicidal granddaughter/niece back to health I buy, but Donna & Taylor eating those huge pastries was too unbelievable. The Italy remote looked great.

ALL: They Almost Became
Worked out for Kassie, but this could have been amazing if Sloan/Culliton wrote to her strengths. The pairing with Grant and rivalry with Vicky would have been a lot of fun. Not to mention the sibling relationships with Iris, Paulina & Matt. Maybe the Evan story could have worked too. Of course, the show went in the exact opposite direction and Amanda just became Kelsey 2.

BTG/Y&R: Crossover promo
Paramount should pick up the SWAT spinoff with a condition that Sony lets BTG use the Drucilla character.

ALL: Speculation on the Future of Successful Daytime Soap Operas
The administration hasn't ideologically changed in the 2 months or so since Paramount renewed BTG, The Chi, Yellow Jackets, Ghosts, probably 30 RuPaul spinoffs, and hopefully/likely Lioness will be announced soon. Being an endangered species for 15 years seemed to have kept the soaps on their toes compared to late night. Shortsighted that in 2015 CBS cut and pasted Colbert (who rose to fame via a bare-bones program) into the Letterman show like it was still 2004.
-
ALL: Speculation on the Future of Successful Daytime Soap Operas
Ironheart isn't original IP, but I don't disagree that there is toxicity in Marvel/Disney's online discourse. If Paramount thought for a second that BTG would be a factor in the merger they would not have renewed it.
-
ALL: Speculation on the Future of Successful Daytime Soap Operas
I would be, as I can't think of a single recent example of people protesting or putting pressure to cancel an original IP because the characters aren't white. Do you think Let's Make A Deal is on the chopping block too? Also, BTG has nothing to do with DEI. Nor does other successful daytime shows with primarily Black talent like First Take, Good Morning America, Family Feud, etc.

ALL: Inappropriate storylines on soap operas
Bill Bell's execution of Jake's abuse storyline on Bold was tacky as hell. At almost every story beat, Bell had the actor strip down and be as scantily clad as possible. I'm surprised Jake didn't borrow Ridge's speedo to confront his parents. On any other show, the entire Vincent arc would be the definitive top answer for this thread, but it didn't feel that inappropriate for Passions.
