@YRfan23 You’re welcome! As for Kevin Andrews, Andrews was the the lawyer who Michael had to work as a paralegal for and report to as when he was released and looking to practice law again and eventually Andrews played a part in getting Michael reinstated to the bar. I am not sure why Patrick Baker was mentioned either, Y&R gave Gordon Thomson a contract role yet did nothing important with him except be an additional lawyer and BAM just one month later he’s on Sunset Beach driving major storylines. Maybe Gordon Thomson’s character should have been a love interest for Jill, Nikki and even Katherine instead?

100% agree. Craig and Nancy were wonderful but to do this story for them is pretty insulting. I appreciate the idea that is rumored but like you said it would be embarrassing under the current regime.

I never cared for Gabi and don’t think she should have ever been brought back after killing Nick but this is the show that also redeemed Ben. Not to mention my opinion of Banus has been very very low since day one during the original Chill storyline. That said why haven’t Jake and Gabi started their own business as opposed to begging around like they have been. I thought Jake had potential initially but now I wonder why he wasn’t actually Stefan again or something or thrown to the black hole that is Gabi.

Lynn if I recall was the only one who had an exit and that was to take care of her mother in Chicago which occurred August 2004. LOL I don’t remember Miguel’s exit being like that as I didn’t think he had one at at all. I do know in 2008 when Estella took over it was announced Miguel had retired after two years after not being seen at all. I know Connie Wayne was announced as being retired at Newman when Kevin’s computer hacker girlfriend Natalie said she was taking over Connie’s position. Oddly thought the actresses who played Connie had kept getting younger 🤣

Lynn was one of the few recurring/secondary characters who actually got an exit in August 2004 when she announced she was leaving to take her care of her mother in Chicago although she mentioned she would hope to return. Miguel was last seen in 2006 and officially mentioned as having been retired in 2008.

Re: Wiley’s was also where Victoria worked in 92-93. It also wasn’t considered high brow compared to Fenmore’s as they sold Spectra Fashions lol. Traci and Tim had their last go around during Brad in a cage. I’ve remember reading something that Tim Sullivan ultimately died in between Traci’s 1989 exit and her return in 1990 but I am not sure that is 100% correct.

Ron Carlivati at Y&R? I can see it now: -Patty Williams returns and infiltrates herself by going around wearing a mask that looks like Chelsea as she locks Chelsea up. Everyone is puzzled by Jack and “Chelsea”s sudden relationship. -On Halloween Night GC is terrorized when Sheila and Daisy return to break out Mari Jo Mason, Gary Dawson, Isabella, and Tricia out of the insane asylum. -Rick Daros and Eve Howard return from the dead to kidnap Nikki. The twist? Eve is now played MTS via plastic surgery. -Noah and Fen both announce their gay and quickly get into a love triangle over man. The object of their affection? Kevin. -Nick and Sharon decide to share their special relationship via taking turns of sharing a teddy bear named Victor the Fourth. Phyllis gets insanely jealous and rips off the Bear’s head while framing Rey for the deed.

B&B January 2022 Discussion Thread
This is pretty bad regressive writing on Thudley’s part. Steffy for the last three years has largely developed a lot of character growth getting away from Liam. In fact wasn’t it just recently that Steffy and Hope said they were glad they didn’t act like their mothers? Steffy “declaring war on the Logan’s!” sounds like a bad plot line from 2009 or something. And it causes Steffy a reset in that character growth. If anything, Steffy should be doing the opposite and pushing Taylor to be a brand new “Taylor”. Have Taylor be Carter’s next hook-up or something fun like that.

Sisters Fighting Over a Guy
Yeah I think the Nathan recasts killed the momentum and I actually recently found SOD wrote a very nasty scathing critique about the Nathan/Olivia/Lillie Belle story. Malcolm should have been given his own agenda yet was given that crappy “high on cough syrup” story. It’s tragic because B&B did the exact same trashy story for Ridge & Brooke 12 years later minus pregnancy and yet no one batted an eye. As for AW I was thinking more along the lines of pre-Marley rape tbh but by 1997 Jake and Vicky were far better than the alternatives. I definitely didn’t care for baths!t talk to the mirror Marley obsess over Jake again for no explicable reason. The Marley rape was written without the foresight that Tom Eplin would renew his contract and of course it suffered of that idiocy. Lol I was being facetious….B&B would never feature that. The last gay story B&B did was Vinny killing himself by jumping in front of Liam’s care because he loved Thomas and wanted him to reunite with Hope 🤢

Sisters Fighting Over a Guy
One interesting Y&R quad that never gets enough credit is the Neil/Du/Nathan/Olivia quad which was interesting because Olivia was the older and more intellectual sister but was always interested in Dru’s men, even when she snagged Wesley Carter in 2003 lol. I think Rosanna/Mike/Carly on ATWT was pretty significant as well…it definitely livened up a dreadfully dull couple that was Mike & Rosanna and ended up giving us ATWT’s most prominent leading lady for the next 15 years. Finally can’t forget the ups and downs of Vicky/Jake/Marley on AW in the course of a a 14 year period either. You must have forgotten the time Thomas and RJ quarreled over Vinny on B&B. Psych JK LMAO 😂

2022: The Directors and Writers Thread
I think part of the problem is Y&R never lists writers or their positions in the end credits at all anymore, just in the opening “written by” credits. The end credits nowadays only give either a full cast listing on certain days while other days are broken down into two different groups of miscellaneous technical credits. The days of Y&R’s fade to black credits at the end of each episode has been over since the MAB era I believe.

I am not sure @Errol but I think maybe as far back as last summer? I’ll have to double check for sure, a quick search I did and then I found my own post complaining about Beall lol:

Both Ray and Redd brought some pretty unique strengths to Mamie. I personally think Redd still oozed some much needed warmth but also was capable of holding her own ground especially with Dru and Jill. I think Ray while warm and wonderful sometimes got used too much for either comedic relief or over the top flair ie flipping over and dropping a whole pan of hors d'oeuvres at the sight of Dina, fights with Jill etc. but it would have been interesting to see her carry on in the role into the early 90’s. One curious thing, I do wonder why Olivia and Dru were made nieces instead of daughters of Mamie herself or if Mamie had children of her own. I think that would have been a great classic classism story in retrospect and possible envy I suppose. I only thought about about it after my mother misremembered Mamie being their mother instead of their aunt during the 2020 classic reruns lol.

Re: Dominic’s paternity. Why do I foresee this mess coming to a conclusion with Chance & Abby agreeing to joint custody with Devon and asking Devon & Amanda to move in with them. Then for months on end afterward wacky hijinks not seen since the days of I Love Lucy, I Married Joan and My Little Margie occur for the quad. 🙈😵💫

Guiding light alum joins YR
Lol maybe under MAB and/or Pratt where they definitely would not only be a psycho but also a new love interest for either Victor and/ or Jack, but definitely not happening on JG’s stagnant low energy Y&R. Anyways actually I’m glad the Ashland character is staying on and interesting that Newman is going to be play him glad to see to back on daytime. Strange turn of events. Maybe they will expand Ashland’s family? I swear he should have at least a son and daughter from some previous marriage as well.
-
Y&R: Actor Leaving
Too bad because I really don’t want to see some endless boring Lily/Billy/Victoria triangle. Ashland had potential and should have at least a couple other kids to come shakeup GC and I’m sorry the show completely wasted him but typical of Griffith and Morina to fail epically.

Which storylines wouldn't have taken off had social media existed since the beginning of soaps?
I really don’t know how much social media has helped or negatively affected the soaps at all to be honest at least espy in the last few years when you have folks at the helm who are talentless and ignore all criticism while the product they produce is now becoming universally panned (hello Y&R!). If anything had it existed in the late 80’s and 90’s the backlash possibly could have mitigated some of the bad decisions made at various soaps i.e. JFP and Maureen Bauer but who knows for sure. And unfortunately I hate to say this but even as primetime, cable, streaming services have progressed when it comes to gay male couple on a daytime soap the only “love scene” we’ll get is two guys jumping up and down on a bed high-fiving each other lol 🤢

Bold & Beautiful - December 2021 Episode Counts and Year End Stats
Apparently Bowden and Brooks are currently doing other projects with Bowden currently filming an indie flick while Brooks got cast as a lead in an upcoming AppleTV show called Amber Brown. I very much doubt either Bowden or Brooks are going to be rushing back to B&B soon.

@kalbir @KhanNothing like saying “Hey guys my wife is this prominent D-list actress who needs a permanent gig she would be great as Ashley and no need to audition!” Years later around the 40th anniversary someone interviewed all three actresses in a podcast and I recall Shattuck herself admitted she was out of her league in retrospect. A mess that is difficult to explain but I’ll try lol. Jack was secretly the owner of Jabot even though he legally could not own Jabot after the tainted face cream fallout if I recall right. Victor found out about this and decided to take down Jack so he convinced Jack to run for the Wisconsin state Senator seat. Victor and Nikki had been at odds over the Clear Springs project so Nikki decided to be independent of Victor, run against Jack for state senator and save the town of Clear Springs much to Victor’s chagrin. Then Nick was presumed dead in a plane crash and Victor left town for weeks. Nikki and her campaign manager David got close and fell for each other. Victor returned, discovered this and was pissed. He also discovered Jack secretly sold Jabot to Katherine and that Jack sold NVP to Nikki so then Victor was mad over being outwitted and not having control so he inexplicably blamed Nikki and became increasingly irascible. David convinced Nikki she could thrive without Victor. Then the Clear Springs disaster occurred, and when Victor’s company’s operations where to blame that was the straw that broke the camel’s back and they separated for good.
