  1. It’s actually also a retread of something JG wrote on ATWT when he was associate HW under Hogan which involved a returning psychotic character killing pet rabbits.
  2. Another dead cat on Y&R is disgusting, especially what we went through with Mr. Kitty and then Victor’s dogs back in the day. No thanks. 🤢🤢🤢
  3. The season 4 cliffhanger was definitely quieter than those and also pretty obvious as the previous episode had a brilliant ending scene of Pamela winning one over on Richard, Angela (who was impressed), and Chase, with Pamela promising to Richard she would “blow him away” after he reported her to Interpol. That said the confrontation scenes between Angela and Anna were fun. Of course unlike the Moldavian Massacre the show usually always delivered a death with each catastrophe. Oh I forgot about that one, I did enjoy that one. The whole family coming together in peace including Richard (but sans Cole as Melissa manipulated him into staying) only for the plane to get sabotaged with everyone in terror was good, and we got three deaths out of it and the peace/truce was shattered as the blame game was played. If I recall right the S3 finale and S4 premiere were the show’s highest rated episodes.
  4. The best two season ending cliffhangers the show did was the Season 2’s and Season 6’s, while Season 7’s was notable. The rest were just adequate enough or run of the mill.
  5. The entire cliffhanger for Season 5 is a laughable and embarrassing mess, made worse by Emma being the one to holler “We’re all going to DIE!!!” lol Originally that phone call was supposed to be Stavros’ evil brother played by Anthony Quinn but plans fell through and Chase was supposed to die but the show convinced Foxworth to continue. Like Laura Johnson as @te. mentioned, MacCorckindale and Fairchild had been fired but asked to film final scenes but refused well because they had been fired lol. The result was the pair getting an off-screen exit as told to us by Richard & Angela (an inspiration to Josh Griffith??). Something similar had happened with Sarah Douglas the previous season which facilitated the show giving us a recast Pamela and very strange exit. Not sure what the producers were expecting to happen when they fired cast. True the whole marriage was doomed for sure. I just felt like Terry made a fun secondary vixen overall to Melissa. I had liked the period of the show where characters like Terry, Greg, and Pamela roamed the show as grey characters and operating on their own agendas.
  6. This show has wasted a whole month on everyone having the same pointless fruitless conversation about Thomas & Hope’s possible attraction over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. I feel safe to skip out B&B for June & July.
  7. Glad to see Diane get freed. So wait Noah has now moved to the UK and has now opened a glam club there while Allie now lives in Paris? I doubt we’ll ever see them again. Nate & Audra are fun to watch.
  8. Thanks for sharing that post, I enjoyed reading that post. I know it’s been 10 years now but I wonder if that blogger has been able to stream it all over again given its current widespread availability. I enjoyed Richard & Terry as I thought they were better suited for each other and usually brought out the best and worst of each other. Terry should have been kept around but I guess she was dropped for Dana Sparks Vicky recast?? I hated her final scenes was after the good deed of reuniting Richard with his son, as @Khan once pointed out during an earthquake she suddenly reverted back to a final very selfish moment came as she yelled “But Richard WHat about MEEEEEEeeee?!!!” as she yelled hollered as Richard went for his infant son was ridiculous. More of a topic for the 80’s primetime ratings thread but the Miami Vice vs Falcon Crest war ended almost as quickly as it had begun.
  9. Yep that is the one! After re-reading it’s more of a hit piece on the character itself as well as that season’s producers & writers. There is fair criticism of KA’s acting but the whole “and I admire how she continues to thrive once she gave up notions of prime time success and retreated back into her limited daytime niche” is pretty low. But as a whole the essay makes a good point and has some interesting ideas. To answer your other question about Season 5 kalbir it’s been fairly mediocre compared to the first 4 seasons. Like Soapsuds said a few pages back the Season 4 cliffhanger isn’t adequately resolved at all, and writing out both Lorraine and Pamela Lynch weren’t very good ideas as they left an obvious hole. Maggie’s amnesia is too cliche. The Melissa/Cole/Robin baby drama is too melodramatic. I liked JJ Robert’s in the beginning but her story goes off the rails and is very isolated to her own island as previously mentioned. Apollonia is horrible. Good things like Cass & Anna’s revenge and Chao-Li’s daughter coming to Falcon Crest end way too quickly. At least for the most part the acting was on par, and Emma & Dwayne and Richard & Terry were highlights for the season. The show needed to be refreshed.
  10. Years ago I remember some Falcon Crest blog post blaming KA for the decline of the show but I don’t think I would fault KA herself but all the producers and writers for the last two seasons. Just as KA’s Pilar was about to come into her own in Season 9’she was bogged down by strange affairs first with the obese Ned Vogel and then with Frank Runyeon’s oddball character who seems to be a prototype for Bill Paxton’s character in True Lies just four years later. Anywhoo one reason I was going to post on this thread because after to doing a rewatch despite on how tyrannical Angela was she was also an idiotic schemer with no foresight of what could go wrong as so many schemes just backfired on her. I’m rewatching Season 5 right now with Angela hiring Erin Jones to sabotage Richard and Chase knowing full well in retrospect that decision will haunt Angela through the series finale lol.
  11. Haha people had been campaigning for Will to be gay going back to the Christopher Gerse years, but yes time sure does fly! Again thanks for the detailed analysis! I appreciate the mention of Kinsey as I always liked when her and Tad would show up as they appeared to be more interesting and more fun that what was going on with the rest of the teen set lol. I wasn’t a fan they made Tad to be a stereotypical homophobe towards Will later on but I was glad they eventually redeemed Tad or T before the show dropped him. I agree that teen set was pretty weak I remember Mia most of them all. I did like Dylan Patton as Will more than Gerse but unfortunately Patton if I recall right went off the rails in real life with his drug addiction so he was replaced by Massey. I thought “Chill” had been wishful thinking until there was a subplot where Chad was going to leave Salem but didn’t want to upset Salem and elected to stay in Salem and Will was so thrilled/overjoyed, and Will was uncomfortable around girls and reluctant to hang out with anyone not named up Chad until Gabi became a sudden random and bizarre object of affection for Will.
  12. Thanks for that detailed history. I remember thinking Mia was going to be Carly’s daughter and stay tied to the show while I forgot their was an original and very pointless Gabi. I really don’t remember much of what early Chad did. It wasn’t until the summer of 2010 AKA “The Summer of Chill” of when Chad 1.0 & Will had what should have been the origin story for their great romance. I guess the show just wasn’t ready for that yet lol and it amounted to an unrequited crush sadly.
  13. Who the heck styled Hope’s hair it’s a hot mess with random braids lol.
  14. I remember growing up watching Seasons 10-14 as they aired and later watching that era again reruns on the old TNN network. Before that I remember staying up to hear the theme song before bed lol. The show should have at least stuck with their Pam recast…I’m not sure what happened. By the time they did recast Pam she only appeared for one episode in Season 12 but then they brought the actress back in Season 13 for some silly Pam doppelgänger story. As I mentioned Season 11 was pretty bad. Season 12 was an improvement with the introduction of the McKay’s and finally taking down Jeremy Wendell but lost its way with a lot of silliness (I loved Cally and Tammy but their stories were ridiculous) and then letting Linda Gray walk away. Season 13 was a disaster although the Stephanie Rogers story was the single highlight. The final season, Season 14 was an improvement over Season 13 IMO but it was too late for the show, especially on letting Barbara Bel Geddes walk. The highlights were everything revolving around Michelle and Liz as both actresses really carried the show for that last season. Lowlight was April’s unnecessary violent murder although I understand Sheree Wilson personally asked for April to be killed off when she quit the show. Hated the finale but TPTB apparently seriously thought they were coming back for the 1991-92 season lol. 🤣The movie JR Returns was ultimately IMO a satisfying conclusion to the series it’s actually pretty easy to accept that as the real end of Dallas and dismiss the 2012 series as non-canonical nonsense. Now that was good fun for sure. I just hated though the season had started off with JR and Sue Ellen in a really good and united front there was no need for JR to mess it up.
  15. Out of all the seasons of Dallas, I always disliked Season 11 the most. JR’s affair with Kimberly Cryder is one of the worst written and worst acted stories I have ever seen on television, compounded by Bobby’s bizarre stories and whatever the heck that was Ray & Jenna.
  16. This really should have been the main Abbott story instead of Phyllis faking her death.
  17. After reading that I was wondering if SFT would’ve been killed by GH or would it have actually benefited from the also surging GL’s popularity with the Corrington era of SFT doing well and stable. The 1980-81 line-up was a mess for CBS. SFT lost the Corrington’s and it’s lead-in, Y&R struggled with the one hour format in a new time-slot, and ATWT just flat out suffered from an identity crisis. Years ago I remember reading about CBS wanting to expand SFT to one hour during the Bunim/Corrington era. I tried to imagine a time of where CBS left Bell alone with a 30 minute Y&R and three hour long P&G soaps…until 1987 when CBS cancelled SFT anyways for hour long Y&R and new half hour soap B&B. It’s like trying to figure out how long AW would’ve lasted on CBS. @Paul Raven The whole Liz/Stuart/Jill story strikes me as odd…imagine Ada and Rachel on AW bitterly fighting over the same man…surprised their relationship withstood that. Bell later used the story tactic again with Ashley/Eric/Dina, Joanna/Marc/Lauren, and Nikki/Cole/Victoria.
  18. As May sleeps continues….. Monday, May 22 - Victor learns of Victoria's relationship with Nate; Billy and Chelsea switch gears; Chance discovers his investigation was sabotaged. Tuesday, May 23 - Jack questions Ashley's motives at Jabot; Audra and Tucker reach an understanding. Wednesday, May 24 - Nikki gives Victoria unsolicited advice; Summer apologizes to Kyle. Thursday, May 25 - Phyllis makes a bold move; Christine gives Chance his marching orders; Devon makes a promise to Abby. Friday, May 26 - Sally and Chloe pursue a new venture; Summer makes a pact with Phyllis. Week of May 29th: Victor grills Nate. Sharon learns disturbing news. Summer makes a confession. Audra conspires against Nick.
  19. Robin Strasser spilling tea and I’m here for it:
  20. Simple, that’s what she used to bludgeon him with in the hotel room.
  21. Let me get this straight…the *big* May sweeps drama is Hope and Thomas almost had to spend the night together in San Francisco and what they might have done? No wonder this month’s thread is bare bones lol. Actually I imagine if Thomas had gotten stuck in San Francisco, he would have found his Vinny 2.0 😏 I‘d like to see Brooke encourage Deacon to pursue Taylor not the other way around.
  22. I guess the bomb being dropped is the signal that the story has imploded? 🤣 The only way to end this story is after Phyllis shares a nice warm reunion with Daniel & Summer all of the sudden a couple men arrive, promptly putting her in a straight jacket and hauling her off to Fairview with Summer smiling and waving to her mom and yelling “I’ll come visit you!”
  23. Lord lol. I remember watching that corny show with my grandparents and thinking “I hope that creep never finds me!”.
  24. With the 60th anniversary coming upon us I was completely shocked and sadden to come upon this haunting final message from the This Week in Doctor Who column back in 2011 @Vee @DRW50 https://twidw.doctorwhonews.net/archive.php?edition=2011-07-23 02:31:09 I’m actually surprised this site has all of Benjamin F. Elliot’s columns archived as it was one between a Yahoo group and the old Outpost Galifrey website. I use to converse with Ben regularly when KNME aired Tom Baker movie arcs regularly 1997-2000 as well as KBDI airing Perteee & Baker the during the wilderness years. The tragedy of the late Benjamin F. Elliot’s as much as hard work he put it inton it column was he didn’t foresee the rise of streaming services or of reconstruction or lost episodes i.e. Shada airing on Pluto TV like no strike happened. I don’t know what became of Elliot and he and so many other long term Who bravados liken Andrew Pixley, DV Blunt and of course the JNT crew were pushed aside.
  25. LOL I remember that. In this case I wouldn’t be surprised if Nick Fallon’s mutilated ghost reappeared again to drag Gabi to hell for her exit a la the ending of Jason Goes to Hell lol. Would be fitting lmao. 🤣
