  1. Gretchen Walther isn't listed in the ATWT history book I have, sorry.
  2. Ugh...Emily. I will never forget laughing as KMH ran around after the rape, scrubbing her face or whatever. Which is a really terrible thing to say, but it's what I did.
  3. Well, I think daytime in general pushed older characters into the "advice giver" box. It wouldn't have mattered how many kids he had on-screen. When was the affair? I find it a little hard to believe that story wasn't "fleshed out" enough. Marland was still writing it, wasn't he? I guess on some level maybe the thought was you couldn't have Bob and Susan running around town banging under Kim's nose, but I'm not sure you could have ever believably had Bob and Susan fall in love either.
  4. I doubt SOC updates, or would consider a youtube episode as satisfactory proof. Those dumbasses insisted Jack's real first name is now Jacob because Brad wanted his son "named after" Jack and Katie named the baby Jacob. *eyeroll*
  5. Pretty sure it was 2000, 'cause I remember some kind of story about Maura being confused for a while at the new studio after she came back from her maternity leave (which makes it the first half of '00.)
  6. In Babs' defense, she'd gotten some kind of promise from Margo (what it was exactly, I don't remember, but I think it was that Babs would get to tell him or be there with him when Margo told him...something like that) and instead Margo just told him on her own, leaving Barbara hung out to dry.
  7. Well, I should have known Marland would. With ALL of Emily's myriad of men and self-esteem issues, Dan's name should have been more brought up than it was. And considering Emily's default explanation for YEARS of vindictive and self-destructive behavior was Susan's bad parenting, I think Em should have been more prone to throwing out Dan's name.
  8. That's the name! She was on a Quantum Leap back eppy set around the Civil War and ended up being Sam Beckett's grandma or something. Ditto re: Dan. I kinda get where it was hard to bring him up decades after he died, but when it came to Bob and Susan's affair, he should have been brought up. Hey, but it's not everyone who gets not one, but two grandchildren named after them.
  9. I can't get over how garish that set looks. Not that I forgot, but Liz Hubbard is smokin' in that scene. It's interesting to see her as Lucinda without the constant head-tossing and other signature tics going on. Karen was a fun character, even though I don't remember much specifics about her stories. But the actress (and I forget her name) frequently turns up in bit parts and always remember her face.
  10. I know Marland's handling of the affair and it's aftermath was more realistic, but there's always a point that realism turns tedious. And I think it got to the point where the audience was asking how much of Kim's reaction was because Bob was unfaithful, and how much of it was because it was Susan. Re: Scott---I thought he fit Andy perfectly. It would have been nice if TIIC had brought Andy back from time to time (if Scott had wanted to reprise the role), but they weren't really bringing anyone back for those kind of visits. I was surprised no offers were made after the cancellation was announced, especially when Julianne Moore came back. It would have been a nice nod to history.
  11. '91---Kim is probably still moaning and groaning about Bob and Susan's ONS. Marland, God love him, did have a tendency to drag things out just a hair too long. It's weird...I know there were many Dans---but I always think of John Reilly when Dan is mentioned.
  12. OMG...that opening! Cody ends up being the father of Cricket's child (Billy Ross, who infamously hit Oakdale to deflower Jennifer right under his cousin Bryant's nose, then never returned from Scotland). I had no clue he also trying to get with Barbara though.
  13. ATWT still leaves a hole in my heart.
  14. Ahh!! Cute little Parker and Will! I loved Hal's little red-headed army! Lisa's probably bitchy about Margo's affair with Alec Wallace. This is shortly after his hitman shot Eddie and briefly took Carly hostage. Alec dies I believe on NYE.
  15. Yeah, I remember parts of Laura/Beau (Carolyn Clark had just finished the role of Leslie on GL) stuff. Not to spoil it, but Laura ends up kidnapping baby Chris. If I recall correctly, a lot of this played out during the writers strike, which by definition, did it no favors.
  16. Y'know, I don't think soaps generally did a "good" triangle. They always needed the clear "bad" guy foil, and that was John.
  17. I would assume so. Or at least one of the more highly regarded soap actors to transition to writing. That synopsis isn't exactly the way I heard the story---I believe I heard at one time that Kim had set out to seduce Bob in FL. And I don't think I've ever heard of Jennifer described as "neurotic" or "unreasonable". LOL...if Franny was Bob's "middle-age" attempt at fatherhood...Chris was practically his grandson.
  18. LOL...that's actually not....bad. A tad cheesy, but at least it wasn't shrieked/shrilled/over the top hammy. Sigh...I miss the Mona Lisa. And DAYUM, how freakin' gorgeous is Colleen? Ben H looks almost like a hippy with his "long" hair. LOL.
  19. Not that I recall. Katie's lies/embellishments/behavior was excused morning, noon and night...other than her getting smacked down at the Endicott's. (I'm still cheering Mike walked out on her cheating ass, btw. Smartest thing that block of wood ever did.)
  20. Let's add Martha Byrne to that list, while we're at it.
  21. Eh...I didn't care. I do know there were a whole contingent of fans that got up on the cross like they were the only ones suffering at the time. I'm sure they would have been happier had Helen Wagner simply died earlier, so Goutman could use Nancy's death to fulfill his wrap-it-up vision.
  22. I was going to say the same thing. He looks older than Bob there! He looks like the love child of the Fonz and Columbo.
  23. Yeah, they had played the "friends" aspect of Bob and Kim for so long, it was a little weird to go "there" in the relationship for viewers who had only had it referenced for years, and not seen it. I always saw Dan as Kim's great love, not actually because I remembered it, but because it was continually referenced on the show. If not directly, by the fact Kim was Betsy's de facto mother for years and the rivalry with Susan. I had no idea IP intended for Kim and Bob to be endgame.
