  1. Same. He was as gorgeous as he was talented.
  2. This SUCKS.
  3. This was my first Diane Keaton experience, and it traumatized me for life. She’s so good in this:
  4. This one’s a gut punch. I loved her so much.
  5. Lily should’ve been much more antagonistic towards Phyllis over the years given her involvement in Dru’s death (and the fact that Dru despised her). CK has really improved as an actress in recent years. But it’s largely been wasted, as it has for all of Y&R’s talented actors.
  6. Right, and it’s not like they were freeing up Lily to be with Cane again if they are earmarking him for Phyllis, unless they’re intending to play a love triangle down the line (in that case, they could have kept Damian). Odd that they wouldn’t continue to play the Lily/Cane tension if he’s growing closer to Phi Phi anyway. This show just sucks.
  7. But you know what I mean? I like that actor mentioned, but I don’t love the message this sends on the first hour-long Black soap. On a show with a male deficit in general. Where they decided to cast the core family almost entirely of women with loser Black husbands and a gay Black man with a doting, long-suffering white husband. Where a Black doctor (a gambling addict and a cuckold) was just killed off while his white wife was schtupping the local white gangster. Where a lot of the Black men have been corrupt cops or criminals working at the pleasure of said white gangster. Daytime hasn’t done a great job at developing Black talent over the years. The Monti Sharps never had a chance. It’s sad that there are only a few solid Black male actors who rise to the level of “vet,” but they do exist. But I suppose none of them would yield the excitement of a — (none of them ever had the chance to build his level of notoriety).
  8. This show needs to get its act together with its Black male characters before it starts hiring white soap vets in leading male roles. Especially with its meager budget. Where are the Sean Blakemores and the Peter Parroses?
  9. I kinda like that orange and teal get-up on Nikki.
  10. He could’ve been anybody if they just needed a set of semi-fresh male genitals for Phyllis.
  11. People were talking about actors/characters they could easily cut in the Directors & Writers thread to open up some budget. Mark Grossman and Melissa Claire Egan would be easy enough to dismiss. Let Adam and Chelsea ride out in the sunset together. They have been played out as characters for YEARS and no longer have a raison d’être.
  12. I’m also surprised there was so little Christel Khalil given the number for Cane. Billy Flynn really should’ve just been a new character or someone else (like Brooks Prentiss).
  13. When I read that, I thought you meant they were going to have a story together. Then I scrolled up.
  14. Awww.
  15. It’s a terrible, unwatchable, lazy show, but it’s been that way for so long without any viewership consequences that I figured it was immune to such drops. Hopefully, the changes we’re seeing behind the scenes are the tip of the iceberg. Y&R will never be what it was, but someone could actually try to tell a story.
  16. A global treasure and institution unto herself.
  17. Ronn Moss wasn’t the most expressive actor (although he could be surprisingly effective in scenes—like when Ridge learned Caroline had cancer), but he had real star quality and a model’s ability to know his angles and hit his marks. His chemistry with women was so strong that he was the anchor for three classic pairings (Caroline, Taylor, Brooke). He was almost a parody of the debonair, square-jawed soap stud, and you could roll with his take on Ridge for the most part, even if you were rolling your eyes from time to time. He was a one-off. AA ain’t that. I feel bad for him to be honest. Obviously, he’s not being held at a gunpoint to be on BTG, but it must be so soul-deadening to get this kind of audience feedback. But TPTB should really put him and us out of our misery. One thing’s for sure, Ambyr Michelle and Colby Muhammad are going to be pros at green-screen acting after working opposite AA.
  18. Love DD, hot and cold on KM, and appreciate LB in spite of my ambivalence towards Vanessa and her story. TMG can be superb and hilarious even though the show oversells the camp with her a lot of the time. I just think Ambyr/Colby are on another level (for me), and they transcend the show with their chemistry. I wish BTG valued its men as much and gave them material and hired actors accordingly. Having two or three strong male performers/characters isn’t good enough, and it really lets the women down. Alex Alegria standing around like the world’s most awkward mannequin would have been embarrassing if Colby and Ambyr weren’t so compelling.
  19. They’re just endlessly watchable: Ambyr and Colby. I think it’s a very strong female cast. Best ever is a big statement. Daytime’s had some stellar actresses grouped together. BTG has a way’s to go before they match mid-‘80s Santa Barbara or ATWT or late ‘80s/early ‘90s GL or AW (or early-to-mid ‘90s GH).
  20. Eva and Kat elevate this show.
  21. Yeah, pretty much my thoughts as well. I thought the Y&R, ATWT, and GH ones were just the actual logos. The retro GL one is cool. Would be interested to see what it comes up with for DAYS when you do the NBC ones, since the hourglass and font are so iconic. And Another World since it never really had a brand that stuck.
  22. It’s sad because she was somewhat given a strong POV that first week as a counterpart to Dani, and this show really needed some scrappy strivers who were Dupree outsiders. Eva/Leslie have eclipsed her in that respect, but they are played by exceptional actors. MG is very uneven. The writing for her hasn’t done her any favors either. She had that scene with Leslie at Orphey Gene’s, and I thought maybe they’d collaborate on that fake pregnancy scheme against Bill and Dani. Just feels like a bunch of stories with Hayley were set up and dropped either because they realized MG was limited or they decided to focus on other stories. But the writing did feel like they were building something with her initially.
