And that, ladies and gentlemen, is what is so damned disappointing about the whole affair.
  2. Didn't he move to St. Louis after he left GUIDING LIGHT and his alleged same-sex relationship with Jacob Young had imploded?
  3. I guess the message behind that story was that even "smart" teenagers can make bad choices (i.e., underaged drinking and unprotected sex). But that's probably just what I took from it.
  4. I'd certainly call them that before I'd call Jonathan and Tammy.
  5. He was okay.
  6. It'd be a stretch, but...how about Donna Mills?
  7. I think Beaty's breakdown while portraying Brent/Marion forced him out of the profession -- which is understandable, but also sad, since I think he did some very good work during that period (in spite of the horrendous writing).
  8. I think that's correct, jam. Which is amazing, when you consider how many women Mike has been involved with over the years. IIRC, he didn't even marry Carrie Brady.
  9. I don't know why they bothered with Lea Salonga OR with Lien if they had her only for a short period of time.

Same. Not once have I ever looked to "The View" as a genuine source of news and information. "The View" is a daytime talk show, aimed specifically toward women of a certain age and income. You can't hold it to the same light as, say, "Meet the Press," or even "Today." However, I do expect it always to feature a panel of hosts who are sober and informed, regardless of political, social or religious ideologies. Which is why I so miss the days of Meredith Vieira and Lisa Ling. It might not have been as, um, fun as it is now, but it was a show which treated the average viewer with respect.

Who said I hated FNC's conservative politics, Max? Just b/c I feel they're irrelevant within the landscape of cable news networks, that doesn't mean I necessarily hate whatever ideologies the network espouses. IMO, the issue isn't that they present a news-view that "slants right," as it were. What I mean by "irrelevant" is that they might have a lot to say to the rest that IS important to hear if not for the fact that they tend to be strident to the point of minimizing and ridiculing other views (not just liberal views, mind you, but any views that are directly opposed to those Roger Ailes and his underlings) all while operating under the ironic banner of "fair and balanced." And what they offer on a regular basis is not so much "news" as it is opinions expressed very loudly (but that's something, I think, we could accuse most networks these days of doing). If I came across as someone who believed otherwise, however, I apologize.

Ain't that the truth, lol! I loved how everyone involved attempted to spin it, too, as a step up for her career. Since when is a move to a cable "news" network hardly anyone in the media industry takes seriously -- and one, I might add, even its' own board of directors have written off as one w/o growth potential (according to an NPR interview w/ the author of a book about BTS life there, FOX has pretty much given up on FNC ever reaching beyond their old-skewering, ultra-conservative audience) -- an upgrade? Elisabeth would have been better off transitioning to a part-time gig at Sbarro!

Here for Star, in case she finally whips off her wig and beats the others with it.
  14. Unfortunately, I'm not Carl. Nevertheless, amybrick, I feel compelled to answer your question. Ultimately, I liked Lisa Brown better as Nola. That character was more of a fighter, IMO. Iva just seemed too bogged down with all her emotional baggage.
  15. Unfortunately, DAYS has already taped its 50th anniversary celebration.
  16. Didn't the final episode suggest Alison had become a total barfly, passed out drunk in some bar? I don't know, MP just seems to leave a bitter taste in my mouth when all was said and done. Everyone was basically venal w/ absolutely no redeeming qualities. It makes me wonder about the mindsets of those responsible for writing and producing the show.
  17. IIRC, Susan Hunter (then played by a different actress) left town after marrying Eric Peters, who she THOUGHT was her rapist, but turned out it was consensual and she just forgot. (Or something like that. Reading it in the history books, it seemed a bit like a ret-con.)
  18. I'm sorry, but I don't buy she was duped. She might have done it solely for the cash, sure, but duped? Didn't you read the script beforehand? Then again, I haven't seen the documentary, so I've no idea what she said.
  19. Just say it, Mr. Howard: you're embarrassed to be on a soap opera.
  20. Thanks, Carl, for posting this interview! I wish Denise Alexander had stayed longer on ANOTHER WORLD. Under better circumstances, she might have been another tent-pole character. She certainly had the charm and personality to be that sort of character. However, Mary's backstory just seems so convoluted and ridiculous.

I realize her own show was a failure, but I think Jane Pauley might make a good replacement as lead moderator on that panel if -- and only if -- she had the right mix of co-hosts to work with. She was what she was on "Today," after all, b/c of the chemistry she shared with everyone else (Bryant Gumbel, Willard Scott, Gene Shalit, etc.).
  22. I think we have our story for the "Who's the Boss?" reunion movie.
