ALL: They Almost Became
I've heard that as well. Supposedly, Brian Frons asked her back, but she refused, b/c she did not want that headache.

The View
As a (man who lives with his) mom, I do think "The View" needs to re-invent itself if it wants to stay on the air. The show needs to stop with all the tabloid-chasing nonsense and get back to its roots as a serious (or as serious as one could get in that particular format) and thought-provoking talk show led by a panel of competent, informed women. "Miss Celie & Friends" ain't it.

Falcon Crest
Yes, and yes. Robert Foxworth chose to leave in order to care for his future wife, Elizabeth Montgomery ("Bewitched"), who was battling her first round with cancer. Reportedly, Foxworth was supposed to be gone only for a year. Obviously, though, plans changed.

Falcon Crest
I remember that. It occurred in the S6 finale, the same one where Melissa drove her car into SF bay (w/ Maggie's baby on-board), Chao-Li collapsed while trying to help Emma, Chase disappeared in the waters after rescuing the baby, and Angela learned (via a letter from Peter Stavros, who had departed from the valley) that Richard was the son she believed had died in childbirth. I don't recall exactly WHY Emma was attempting suicide (I tend to block out a lot of the silly [!@#$%^&*] she did over the years), but I do remember it was Lance who talked her down at the start of the following season.

Unfortunately, thanks to the tension between Turner and Jane Wyman, neither Turner nor Jacqueline Perrault were long for FC. Which is shameful, IMO, b/c I think (if Turner had been persuaded to remain on the show) Jacqueline/Richard would have made an awesome combination against Angela.

Believe me, Earl Hamner, Jr. still can't believe he created it either.

Primetime Soaps
I wish I had never seen "Single White Female" in the theater with my father. Not only was the movie not good, it was just too embarrassing to watch it with him. (Amazingly, though, Papa Khan didn't "freak out" or anything. God bless you, Dad.)

FC has its' (extremely devoted) fan base...but no. FC never hit number-one in the ratings like DALLAS and DYNASTY did. In fact, some have described it as a "time-slot hit" based on the fact that it followed DALLAS Friday nights on CBS.

Melrose Place
I remember the Dr. Gilda article. I thought it was silly to have any pop psychologist "analyze" MP's characters. First of all, they're not real people. Second, this is MP we're talking about. Anyone who isn't one-dimensional need look elsewhere. I remember, too, when Heather Locklear was receiving praise up the wah-zoo for her work in the TV movies "Shattered Mind" and "Texas Justice." Even then, I was asking what kind of drugs critics in Hollywood were ingesting to come up with such rubbish. Theoretically, a cancer storyline is "good." Again, though, this was MP. The pacing and style of the series, along with the vapidity of the characters, just couldn't support such a deep and emotional story, IMO.

IMO, Wagner is too in love with himself to be generous with his partners, both on-screen and off.

Is she still with the model who played the David Grant recast on GUIDING LIGHT?

Melrose Place
Oooh, can I answer this one? Please? I always thought Marcia Cross (Kimberly) and Laura Leighton (Sydney) were the show's biggest assets, cast-wise. Neither needed to do anything more than enter a room to get your attention. Unfortunately, aside from perhaps Thomas Calabro (Michael), MP's male actors never rose to the challenge. Jack Wagner (Peter) was...a'ight, but Andrew Shue (Billy) was so damn wooden that he left splinters in my TV set.

I know you're not saying that to me, b/c when it comes to me and Mama Khan, I'm actually the more prudish one, lol.

Not at first. Lorraine Broderick was the HW at the start. McTavish was the one, though, who turned Jim into a terrorist and killed him off.

Roscoe Born portrayed Jim Thomasen on ALL MY CHILDREN. Originally, he was a passenger on the same plane crash that "killed" Dr. Maria Santos (Eva La Rue, "C.S.I.: Miami"). He became acquainted with Brooke English, played by Julia Barr. AMC's writers even hinted at a romantic relationship between the two. (Or maybe that was just my impression? I must admit, this was during one of those post-early-'90's periods when I wasn't following the show as much.) However, Born abruptly quit the show after he got word of Jim's Big Dark Secret: back in NYC, he was a kiddie porn photographer, and one of his "subjects" just happened to be Brooke's adopted daughter, Laura Kirk English, then played by Lauren E. Roman. Born told the soap press he left b/c he himself was a father to a young girl and not only did he find the notion of portraying a pedophile too much, it also wasn't what he had signed on the dotted line for either. I can't recall off-hand whether Jim and Liza's paths ever crossed. It's possible they did, since the story at that time was that the crash was caused due to corporate negligence on the part of Liza's husband, Adam Chandler (David Canary). By the time Brooke shot Jim Thomasen dead, however, Jim, now played by David Forsyth (ex-John, ANOTHER WORLD; ex-Hogan, SEARCH FOR TOMORROW; ex-T.J., TEXAS; ex-Burke, AS THE WORLD TURNS), had been outed not just as someone who had abused Laura years before, but also as the one who had actually engineered the crash.

Wasn't there also some b.s. after Matt's death concerning a diary he kept on all the other residents? Or did I imagine that?

Oh, you got that right! Whenever he was on-screen, I could just see the desperation on his face. If he were a talking doll, he'd say, "Acting is hard!".

ALL: Soap Stars - Where are they now?
He must have had a little downtime between appearing on B'way, filming three movies simultaneously, producing amazing new series with JFP and Steve Burton and completing his fifth Ph.D.
