Frankly, I wish he would own it. We already KNOW he is one of them by his actions and inactions. We know that white supremacists everywhere have interpreted his ascendancy as an open mandate to preach their hate; and we know his base will continue to support him and explain away his failings no matter what. So why not just admit you do, in fact, believe whites to be the superior race, and that when you promised to "Make America GREAT Again" you actually meant to "Make America WHITE (and Male and Heterosexual and Elitist) Again"? Whaddya have to lose, Donny? Even if you DO end up impeached (and with this GOP, that's a BIG if), it won't be because you can't stand anyone who isn't like you.

Oh, perfect timing, Mr. President. [/sarcasm] As usual, marceline's right: we can't count on him to be "more presidential." It just ain't in him. So he can keep pulling bullshit like this. We'll just keep calling him out on it until (God willing) he's no longer in office.

And to them, I say, "What about the ones it DOES impact? Does your line of sight extend only as far as your own back and front yards? Do you not understand that Christianity's most basic tenet is to put others' needs before your own? Or do you pay about as much lip service to the virtue of selflessness as the illiterate, misogynistic racist you helped put into the WH?"

Well, that's what happens when some people, no matter how NOT racist they profess to be, can't take a Black man with a funny-sounding name as their leader.

Frankly, it doesn't matter when or even if Bannon leaves. One, the damage has been done; and two, Trump doesn't need Bannon to make him racist. As his inglorious track record proves, Trump is more than enough racist on his own.

And yet, in his speech before the Republican Nat'l Convention, he told us, the African-American community, he could see us, bleeding and crying in our drug-infested streets; and he promised, both at the convention and on Inauguration Day, to clean up our neighborhoods, so our children and grandchildren could walk safely again... ...or some jive honky b.s. like that. Good thing we didn't believe him, though, lol. Actually, I want him to keep trying (and failing). It's certainly a lot funnier than anything Chuck Lorre could come up with.

In response, Orange tweets: TrumpCo. takes another pass at condemning "extremist groups". When Jeff F**king Sessions makes a stronger statement condemning white supremacists than the President of the United States, you KNOW things must change. Of course, I think the DOJ's investigation, which will be led by Foghorn Leghorn, will be a farce, with the victims branded the REAL terrorists and James Alex Fields, Jr. given a full pardon. Nevertheless, Jefferson's words pack, for the moment, the stronger punch.

Don't get me wrong: I want to see all monuments dedicated to the Confederacy destroyed. I just don't understand the argument that preserving them instead would be like preserving history itself. First of all, history is more than slabs of concrete. Second, it isn't as if deconstructing the cursed things will somehow erase the legacy of slavery or Jim Crow segregation in this country, never to be thought of or mentioned again. Because, believe me, just as soon as we even THINK about forgetting about the history of race relations in America, someone is bound to show up with receipts.

Uh...sorrynotsorry? Look, Petey, you took your chances when you picked up your Pier One tiki torch and went a-marchin'. You didn't want to be portrayed as an angry racist? Then you shoulda stayed yer ass at home. Also, from the interview: "White nationalists aren’t all hateful; we just want to preserve what we have." And again, I scream, YOU HAVE NOTHING. What you have, you've appropriated from other cultures. Right down to those ridiculous tiki torches. (Seriously, did y'all think you were going to some kind of luau?)

I don't understand how removing this-or-that statue or monument would be like "destroying history." Lord knows history can be forgotten, but can it ever be destroyed? Pics or it didn't happen. Frankly, I wouldn't let him off the hook. If I were living in Lexington, I would remind the mayor as often as necessary to back up his words with deeds.

I hope they replace it with another statue...of the three who were killed yesterday. Must we soil ATWT's good name by associating it with that rat bastard? Yep; and knowing those clowns, they probably will go back to wearing hoods, too. (Say what you will about groups like the Black Panther Party, but at least they didn't hide under any shitty sheets.) Meanwhile: I guess all great couples are tested every now and then.

Before it's all said and done, Trump, Attorney General Foghorn Leghorn and others will have Trump Nation believing the victim was the real terrorist just by crossing the street. ("We're taking America back from the jaywalkers!") However, he does look like what happens when first cousins procreate.

Neither am I. Frankly, I'm afraid it's going to escalate until some idiot pulls out explosives. Honestly, I didn't expect anything more from this man. I figured he would find a way NOT to blame or condemn the ones who need to be and instead make it seem as if it's the counterprotesters' fault.

Well, maybe Thomas Jefferson could have imagined a world with social media. After all, he WAS a pretty progressive-thinking dude. It's like what a former History professor of mine once said: "If the Founders were able, somehow, to travel through time to today [late-20th century America], they'd be shocked to see the nation they had created has lasted THIS long." Are you kidding? To be in those photos, it would mean leaving the safety of their parents' basements.

If people like THOSE people ever faced actual oppression, they'd scream and beg for their lives like scantily-clad sorority girls in slasher movies.
