  1. Exactly. For those who NEED it. And there are those who DO need it, whether due to disease, or injury. But I don't think JPS needed it. I'm probably wrong. However, I just can't put it past this administration to end up doing little-to-nothing to help the Harvey victims or the local law enforcements' recovery efforts.
  2. Could this be The Bloop Heard 'Round the World?
  3. But what do you want to bet (no, not twenty bucks, lol) that if and when she DOES find her way onto the $20 bill, she'll suddenly be sporting a "Just for Me" perm, a nose job and Jada Pinkett Smith-esque cheekbones? It's easy to see why: the GOP couldn't come up with anything passable, and people are so used to Obamacare that not having anything at all just isn't feasible.
  4. Don't be surprised if they swap Harriet Tubman with George Wallace (and no, I don't mean the comedian).
  5. Report: Trump To End DACA
  6. He's echoing the title of my new book of essays, "They Shoot Black People, Don't They?".
  7. AFAIC, those "Women for Trump" deserve whatever they get. It's just a shame the REST of the women in this country have to suffer with them.
  8. Trump's Shrinking West Wing My takeaway: Vee might be right -- Trump hates being president.
  9. Save some for me, won't you? Just another example of the "very fine people" on the alt-right. Conservatives STAY cracking down on racial and ethnic minorities. They always rue the day someone decided it was a good idea to let us uppity n****rs sit at the front of the bus.
  10. Trump Wants Tariffs
  11. Antifa wouldn't last five minutes in those places before community members kicked them out of their neighborhoods. "We're tryin' to honor Dr. King by staging a peaceful protest," they might say, "and then they bring THEIR triflin' asses in here, tearin' up [!@#$%^&*]. We ain't got time for that mess!"
  12. It's that old expression, "They mean well, but...". I don't want to repeat marceline (again), so I'll just say this: I have a tough time dealing with ANY group that encourages its members to disguise themselves, regardless of which side of the proverbial fence they're on. To me, it's creepy af...and, if I must be honest, it's cowardly, too. Say what you will about the Black Panther Party, but from what I recall, those guys hardly ever cloaked their faces so that you couldn't tell who was who.
  13. If this were a joke on Johnny Carson... Carson: "Donald Trump is so racist -- " Audience: "HOW. RACIST. IS HE?" Carson: "He's so racist, even white people all look alike to him!" Ed McMahon (o.c., as AUDIENCE LAUGHS): "Hi-yooooooooooo!"
  14. Which falls in line with what many (both here and elsewhere) have been saying: namely, that Trump really sees his presidency as an extension of "The Apprentice."
  15. We're just one step closer to becoming an authoritarian-ruled government.
  16. Is the term "peaceful Nazis" oxymoronic, or just plain moronic?
  17. Yeah, Tay-Tay's playing the victim card ("Oh, you want to speak to the old Taylor? Well, she's dead!") and I, for one, am not having it. Who (aside from loser boyfriends and Black people) has abused you, girl? And how, exactly, did they abuse you? It's as if she thinks her reputation has been ruined; and I'm like Thelma Harper, asking, "What reputation, you tramp?!?". 'Nuff said?
  18. Why would they have voted against aid for Hurricane Sandy? Oh, yeah, I forgot...
  19. Yep, just another crazy Friday at Le Chateau Trump.
  20. True. Eventually, either Kelly will do something to piss off Trump and force his removal, or he'll just plain give up trying to control him and quit. From The Root: 5 Reasons I Hope Donald Trump Doesn't Get Impeached
  21. If she DID vote for Trump, I wouldn't be a bit surprised. Frankly, I think Taylor tried WAY too hard with her new song. She went out for edgy this time, but all she brought back was sadness and desperation.
  22. If that's true...well...you can't say Kelly isn't trying to turn things around.
  23. The New Yorker's Margaret Talbot said it best: "Choosing to pardon [Arpaio] is a gift to the white nationalists." When you look at the former sheriff's record, you can't HELP but see as much. Yet, people will INSIST that Trump is not a racist. There's only one reason for re-instituting the ban against transgendered persons serving in our military, and it's that Obama was the one who reversed the ban in the first place. Otherwise, what's the purpose in banning any able-bodied individual from protecting and defending our country when the data has shown that transgendered soldiers would have a "minimal impact" on the military's overall safety, financial resources and morale? Aside from appeasing the most small-minded social conservatives out there, it just makes no sense. Apparently, he believed TrumpCo. wasn't as jazzed as he was about killing Muslims. But seriously, how crazy is it that a Jewish man (Miller), a British-born Hungarian (Gorka), and a third man with Irish Catholic roots (Bannon) are putting pressure on Trump to put "America First"?
  24. I'm with the folks in the thread who don't want anymore stories like these. Who CARES what these people think? They just wanted a white man for president. Also, whenever the press DOES interview them, they repeat the same, old bromides about Trump, about the GOP, about Congress, about Democrats, about the "East Coast elites," and about the "left-wing" and "right-wing" media. They never offer anything new to the conversation. From the article: She’s unsuccessfully run for public office three times [...] and until recently was a life coach living with her mother in Milwaukee. She’s since moved to Austin to make a fresh start and works in fast food. Translation: Bryn Biemeck sucked at being a "life coach" (IF that's what she was -- and honestly, who could trust a life coach who was still living at home with their mother?); she couldn't even get elected dog catcher if she'd tried; and she's so insufferable as a human being that even her own mother basically told her to GTFO. Today, she lives in the heart of Trump Country, and works at a low-paying fast food gig that she'll insist ten years from now is just a stepping stone toward something better. Translation: A n****r came up with this program to help other POC, so it has to go.
  25. IA; and BECAUSE she died so soon, the specialness of Greg and Jenny's relationship wasn't spoiled by the kind of romantic merry-go-round that Cliff and Nina were on throughout much of the '80's.
