  1. Well, here's SOME good news: David Holt, whom I've known since kindergarten, was elected mayor of OKC last night, receiving more than 75 percent of the vote. http://www.news9.com/story/37499383/david-holt-elected-next-mayor-of-okc Yes, he's a Republican. But don't hold that against him.
  2. At this point, what ISN'T just a distraction from TrumpCo.? That's literally all they know how to do. Well, that, and irritate the [!@#$%^&*] out of people.
  3. So, IOW, Puerto Ricans are now on the Trump Diet.
  4. If they are allowed to get away with deciding what SNAP recipients will eat, then I would NOT be surprised if the foods they choose are LOADED in fats, sugars, cholesterols and everything else that guarantees poor health and short life spans. The Repubs are Just. That. Evil.
  5. I understand why Bill Bell resisted expanding Y&R for as long as he did. The show was doing just fine at thirty minutes, but there had been several recasts of some of the original characters; and those who had remained, like Jaime Lyn Bauer, were feeling overworked. It's just a testament to Bell's skills as a storyteller that he was able to keep the show going through what had to be some serious "growing pains."
  6. . And they said Obamacare would lead us all to death panels.
  7. If they could, they'd suggest that he beat his wives as Hillary watched and Bill and Barack held them down.
  8. I figured as much when he went after Frederica Wilson. If I had been her, I would have taken off my hat and beat him with it.
  9. Agree. Of course, we know they won't. Not the Republicans, anyway. They'll try to spin that opposing this parade means you don't support the military -- which couldn't be further from the truth, if you ask me. If I truly believed that he was doing this FOR our troops, then I wouldn't hesitate in pledging my support. But it's just so obvious that Donny Small Hands wants only to show off.
  10. I won't lie: I read that headline and I immediately pictured Buddy running into the Powells' house to tell 'em "Chorles" had been arrested.
  11. Same. (By the way, Roman, I apologize for stepping on your toes by posting my link after you posted yours. But I couldn't resist the "ME WANT PARADE!!" joke.)
  12. Trump to Pentagon: "ME WANT PARADE!!" Now, maybe I'm wrong, but it seems to ME that our nation's service men and women neither demand nor expect parades for the work they volunteer to do on all our behalf. All they really ask for, IMO, is our thanks. But, whatevs. Democracy is dead! Viva Trump!
  13. Am I reading right that the Dow average today fell more than 1000 points?
  14. Judd Apatow can have a seat as well, thank you.
  15. Yet again, it hits me how respectful (for lack of a better word) Weinstein is even in his refutals (through his reps, of course) of Thurman's allegations, which is a stark contrast to how he responded to Lupita Nyong'o's. Incredible. Just incredible. I hate to say it, but I wish it would. I think his movies are so damn overrated. Same. I'm saying it again: I really do fear for Rose McGowan.
  16. ICAM. She's either lost total control, or she's on the road there. I'm really worried for her.
  17. I'm still mad over how Frank Valentini and Ron Carlivati blew a golden opportunity to have JL return to OLTL as Karen Wolek before the show's final episode on ABC. (Karen Wolek married to Herb Callison. In what universe, you numb-nuts?)
  18. I've said it once, and I'll say it once again: if and when Trump finally goes down, it won't be for anything connected to Russia. I realize that seems impossible at the moment, but my gut instinct tells me it'll be over something that, when compared to the ongoing Mueller investigation, will seem banal and mind-numbingly stupid. (That's why I think people are too quick to dismiss and/or ignore the Stormy Daniels situation. Not that that could lead to anything, but...well...you just never know.) It'll be one of those "not with a bang, but with a whimper" kind of deals. Trust. Watch.
  19. I think I'm sick and tired of hearing about Scott Baio's disgusting sex life. I also think he's guilty as hell.
  20. Oh, dear. Hope Hicks sounds like she's watched too many episodes of "Scandal."
  21. I think most everyone who watches SVU would love less Noah drama. Seriously. OTOH, I think I'm the only one on the planet who'd give his left arm -- and since I'm a leftie, that's saying something -- to see Barba and Carisi hook up. Go ahead and snicker, but I think those two would be incredible as a couple.
  22. Or, given where this country was headed at the time of his death, he might have been on "Survivor." Or "The Bachelor," if the rumors about him and his wife were true.
  23. I remember I was in Las Vegas, watching the wall-to-wall coverage of JFK Jr.'s plane crash, and wondering whether the so-called Kennedy curse had struck again. When the news was official, I was both stunned and saddened. "Kennedys getting killed? That's something that happened in my parents' youth, not mine." But, there I was, in a hotel room in Vegas, watching whoever was on CNN announcing the news. IIRC, JFK Jr. was diagnosed with ADD and dyslexia as a child; and in fact, he even had to repeat a year in prep school. But, OTOH, friends who knew him from Brown say he could tackle and argue both sides of many complex political issues. So, I think he had the mental aptitude for the presidency -- definitely more than Trump or his children do -- but you're right, I don't believe he had the desire. True dat. And I want to apologize for coming across as thinking that way. I wouldn't reject someone like Joe III just because he's a Kennedy...but I think we would need more compelling reasons to vote for him if he were running today. Saying "well, he's a Kennedy" or even "well, he's not Trump" wouldn't be good enough under our current circumstances.
