My thoughts, exactly.

Especially if I could see Scott (and Nancy) voting for Hillary. And if Leon wouldn't have sufficed, then what about Bev? Being a late-in-life lesbian didn't change her all THAT much.

IA. And I'll buy whoever did it a drink just as soon as he sleeps off the 8 or 10 he must've had before slapping him.

Perhaps, I'm wrong, but wouldn't it have made more sense if, say, Leon had voted for Trump INSTEAD of Roseanne? (Yes, I know Leon was/is gay. But they could go for irony there.). Regardless, though, I'm not happy to read/hear about this, even if I do agree that this issue needs to be addressed on the show.

Is there any way we could nationalize voter registration laws? You know, make it so that each and every state has to have the same laws for allowing people to vote in elections? Because, it seems to me that the laws change from state to state.

Well, as Angela Rye would say, "DEUCES."

Tell me about it. Whenever I was disciplined in school for my temper, it almost always involved a white girl. There were exceptions, of course, but I would say 98 percent of the time, I would be punished for something another Becky had started. (The other two percent, by the way, was with white boys.) And she wonders why her Black classmates in high school always called her "white girl." Look, I'm not excusing Kanyeezus for his behavior that night, but most Black people knew better than to vilify him in order to make Taylor look like the assault victim she CLEARLY wanted to play later in the press. It's only skinfolk like Wendy who thought the white people had a point.

WHY must every brush with Lena Dunham end with Black people looking like boogey men and women? She and Taylor Swift LIVE for that [!@#$%^&*]; and I Just. Can't. anymore with those Beckies.

Hell, Oprah PAID for Gayle's divorce! I guess they don't want to appear to be following "Today"'s lead? IDK, it makes no sense to me either.

WHO is running for the Senate?? Oh, hell naw.

YES. The GOP has the Koch brothers and the Mercers on THEIR side. Why not have some heavy-hitters (no pun intended) with deep pockets on the OTHER side? You fight money WITH money.

Love this part of the Ann Curry article: She also discussed the current atmosphere of animosity toward journalism. "I wish that journalists would stop making themselves so vulnerable to this attack," she said. "What we should do is put our heads down and do the work."

Exactly. She does so much more good NOW, being what she is, than she would as president. Plus, unlike Trump, Oprah is savvy enough to know her brand might not necessarily survive four years in the WH.

I have a very sick feeling in my stomach that, at some point, there is going to be a HUGE, male-driven backlash against the #metoo/#timesup movement. Men are going to take only so many knees to the groin before they've had enough.

Paul Haggis wrote or co-wrote all my favorite episodes of "The Facts of Life." The show improved by leaps and bounds right around the time he joined the writing staff. Ergo, it sucks to know this about the man...but, as always, I shouldn't be too surprised.

Guiding Light Discussion Thread
IMO, GL's true savior in 1989 was Robert Calhoun, who had joined the show as EP after working at ATWT. Just as he had done at his previous gig, Calhoun inaugurated an amazing, new "golden era" at GL, promoting Nancy Curlee to Co-HW and recommitting to the show's decades of rich history with the returns of Maureen Garrett and Michael Zaslow. For the first time since the first year of Pam Long's first run as HW, GL, as a whole, felt reinvigorated -- and I say that as someone who enjoyed the show throughout the '80's. Similarly, GL felt as reinvigorated in 1997, even if the quality wasn't as high as it had been during the peak years of Nancy Curlee's HW'ing stint. It's just too bad even THAT run couldn't be sustained for very long.

Sorry. I couldn't resist. I do, too, and I wish it wouldn't. I mean, Stabler can return for an episode, but that should be all.

Knots Landing
Agree. "Twice Victim" had its moments, but I think KL did a much better job of handling this issue in the first-season episode, "The Lie." There, Laura's rape was less a plot twist and more an exploration of her character, especially in regards to her relationships with men.

I guess that's why I'm mainlining Mylanta at this point. I mean, it's been a full, solid year of constant rug-pulling from this administration -- and we have another three-to-seven more to go with this [!@#$%^&*]? (Provided, of course, Trump doesn't blow us all to kingdom come.) And this on top of student loan debts and continued unemployment?? My anxiety, depression, reflux and weak prostate can't take it.
