Meg Ryan is like Genie Francis. She wants to be Taken Seriously, to show she can do more than what the public loves her for. The only problem is, her goals exceed her range as an actress. They always have. Add to that the feeling that she was becoming overexposed even as a romcom star -- audiences weren't sick of romcoms; they were sick of romcoms starring Meg Ryan -- and you have a reasonable explanation for why MR is where she is now.

Steve and Ann's confrontation reminded me so much of Kelly and Nola's on GL. Still, even if I know David O'Brien (and everyone else) gave their best, Geraldine Court, IMO, acted damned circles around them. And that, ladies and gents, always has been one of my major issues with TD. With the exception of Kathryn Harrold, Armand Assante, and later Alec Baldwin and Kathleen Turner, the acting level on this show just plain stinks.

What I like about Sherrod Brown (besides his handsome face) is his levelheaded approach to issues such as health care.

The last two times they brought back Liz Foster, she was on her deathbed (although, I guess the second time took) and desperate to tell Jill the truth about her origins. The literal definition of deja vu.

Same. As Patrick Mulcahey admits, the writers had no real game plan for Carly in the beginning. It's only because of SB that Carly became a breakout character. She set the template for that character for the others to follow.

Of course, Ryan Adams himself denies the claims. But I always thought there was something wrong with that guy.

Let's put it this way: I don't believe Doug Marland ever intended for Quint to be tied to Chamberlains like that. It's strange that JvD gave a better on-air tribute to Charita Bauer's memory than the rest of the show a year later. About the only thing to come out of Bert's death and funeral, I think, was Rick's decision to quit taking pills, although it might've been better had he decided to go to rehab soon thereafter.

Yeah, what IS with that horn? What was it supposed to signify? Because, it certainly would not compel me to think GL was a soap filled to bursting with dramatic tension and high stakes drama. The editing makes you think OLTL's Brody is getting a b.j. in the shower.

Honestly, those promos in particular came off like cheap dating service videos.

I say forget the telecast together, go back to when the Oscars were basically an afternoon luncheon in some hotel, and announce all the winners online via social media.

I cannot understand NBC's intention with that promo. Were they attempting to lull their viewers into watching? How are any scenes at all compelling?

Ironically, the more acting experience Vivica A. Fox has had under her belt, the less believable she has become to me in her performances. She was way more endearing as Maya than as any other character she's portrayed. Same went for PORT CHARLES and PASSIONS. It's like, the worse the soap, the better the promos, lol. Of course, if that were REALLY true, then DAYS, whose bad promos run neck-and-neck with the actual show, must be as good as "I, Claudius." What are they selling? Soap operas, or fragrances? ("Try Barbara! Exclusively at Jewel Osco!") And speaking of fragrances, would someone please tell the Designer Imposters' version of Jeffrey Osborne to leave the rapping to those who know how? One last note: WHAT THE [!@#$%^&*] IS LISA DOING THERE?

Oddly enough, those "In the Name of Love" promos make me nostalgic for an ABC that wasn't owned by Disney.

It WAS used in a Danny/Michelle scene, but the commercial is likely what made you fall in love with that song. (Lord knows it couldn't have been Danny and Michelle.)

I get the "Heat of the Day." What I DON'T get are the generic, mostly faceless images that don't reference any shows or actors. It's like watching a precursor to the OLTL opening from the Linda Gottlieb era.
