  1. I've always assumed it was more of a response to the material she was being asked to play. Her stories in the late '70's and throughout the '80's, right up to when she left in '87 or so, were more layered, IMO, than that campy [!@#$%^&*] she had to play in subsequent runs -- and when you consider that Paul Rauch was EP for a third of her initial run, that's saying something.
  2. I predict this guy will end up hosting his own show on Fox News before the year is over.
  3. I realize white women are on many people's [!@#$%^&*] list these days, but the truth is, women -- REAL women, SMART women, women who stick up for OTHER women -- get [!@#$%^&*] done.
  4. I HATE the headline for that L.A. Times article. "Oddly aligned"? It's like they're saying, "Wait, you mean the Democrats actually have their [!@#$%^&*] together for once?" Don't look now, L.A. Times, but your political bias is showing.
  5. Yeah, Karla DeVito, an astonishing singer in her own right, took over for Foley when Meat Loaf went on tour. Ironically, that was DeVito in the live footage, but she was lip-syncing to Foley's vocals.
  6. My niece attended a "Christian academy" for awhile in Texas. Those places always give me the willies. On the bright side, they don't have to worry about discriminating against anyone (especially now), because no one in the right mind would ever apply to a "school" such as that. (Seriously. I'd rather work for minimum wage at a fast-food joint than work for a place like Immanuel Christian School.)
  7. I reiterate my wish that this entire "Brexit" mess would go away forever. More and more, it looks like a messy waste of time.
  8. Beats the hell out of anything from the Trump Tower food court. JS.
  9. No, but I could imagine Wally Kurth as a recast Kirk McColl in a relationship with a newly returned Frannie. (Or even a triangle w/ Frannie and Barbara.) Poor Angel. Girl just can't catch a break, lol.
  10. To quote P.J. "Um...hell no." I, too, think choosing to ignore Tom's '70's past was a missed opportunity...except I would have re-casted Natalie with Meg Bennett (ex-Julia, Y&R; ex-Liza, SFT; ex-Allegra, GH; ex-Megan, SANTA BARBARA). Once they brought a SORAS'ed Teddy (or "Ryder," as he preferred to be called for some, silly reason) to Oakdale, there was no reason not to bring back Joyce, Grant, Don, Mary, or even his sister (Christina?) as well. Ironically, as much as I dislike watching Kelly Monaco, I think she could've made for a good Nikki recast.
  11. In that case, maybe they could have recasted Tom instead?
  12. Plus, I think Kin would have had good mother/son chemistry with Eileen Fulton, as well as good sibling chemistry with Scott Holmes.
  13. That's the most absurd remark I've heard since Serena Southerlyn asked, "Is it because I'm a lesbian?". No, Roseanne. You were fired, because you compared a dark-skinned woman to an ape.
  14. Well, this oughta make him [!@#$%^&*] in his white sheet. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/01/14/us/politics/steve-king-house-judiciary-committee.html
  15. Jeffrey Meek? Maybe (even though, I'd known him from SFT and "Raven" and couldn't stand him on either show). Hunt Block? No (and that's because I still remembered him from KNOTS LANDING). It might've seemed weird to have him play ANOTHER lawyer named Scott, but I think Kin Shriner would have been another suitable replacement for Joseph Breen.
  16. I tend to blame the ultimate failure of that character not on replacing Joe Breen, but on replacing him with Doug Wert. As a character, Scott might have survived Marland's death and the inevitable change in his direction, but replacing Breen with a weak actor like Wert guaranteed Scott would not be long for Oakdale. (I can't recall who was and wasn't available at that time, but I would've replaced Breen with someone like James DePaiva (ex-Max, OLTL).) Moreover, haven't I read somewhere that Scott eventually left town with Rosanna? Yet, when Rosanna returned, I don't think we heard one word of what had happened between her and Scott.
  17. Yeah, Scott could have come to Oakdale, passing himself off as Chuckie in order to con Lisa and Tom; and then -- SURPRISE! -- he learns he is really Lisa's son after all. Initially, Douglas Marland had it in mind to resurrect Chuckie. Then, he went in a different direction, and retconned a secret pregnancy for Lisa that occurred between the end of "Our Private World" and her return to Oakdale. My guess: he changed his mind, because he had already done something similar in the Frannie/Sabrina story. Early Lisa makes Y&R's Sharon look like a [!@#$%^&*] recluse, lol.
  18. I'm probably the rare individual who preferred Ellen Foley to Markie Post on "Night Court." Maybe she didn't share the same kind of chemistry w/ Harry Anderson that Post did, but, hell, not every sitcom needed a Sam-and-Diane ("Cheers").
  19. I've wondered that myself. Michael Shea could have faked Chuckie's death in order to raise him away from Lisa. Then, after Shea himself had been murdered, whoever was secretly taking care of the boy (perhaps Michael's mistress?) either could have continued doing so, or they could've turned over Chuckie to the foster care system.
  20. Of course, we'd all be remiss if we didn't include this, the first of many catfights between the two Mrs. Carringtons. IMO, it was the best, because it was the culmination of months of animosity between Krystle and Alexis, with Krystle discovering how Alexis had caused her to miscarry her and Blake's baby.
  21. I still laugh about the YT user who asked, "Did she just pull out that [document] from her [vagina]?" Boy, how that earring of Alexis' just flew across the room, lol. No, if I had to choose a favorite moment from this series, it'd be this one:
  22. Poor Claire. Poor, naive, aging boozehound Claire. The beauty about Irna's (and Bill Bell's) writing is that you never need the images to understand what's happening. Dialogue moves so much of the story. IDK who was HW'ing at that point, but they definitely copied that signature style quite well.
  23. Even if there was no collusion going on between Trump('s people) and Putin('s people), moves such as these do NOT help their case any. What a moron.
