  1. Honestly, those promos in particular came off like cheap dating service videos.
  2. I say forget the telecast together, go back to when the Oscars were basically an afternoon luncheon in some hotel, and announce all the winners online via social media.
  3. I cannot understand NBC's intention with that promo. Were they attempting to lull their viewers into watching? How are any scenes at all compelling?
  4. Ironically, the more acting experience Vivica A. Fox has had under her belt, the less believable she has become to me in her performances. She was way more endearing as Maya than as any other character she's portrayed. Same went for PORT CHARLES and PASSIONS. It's like, the worse the soap, the better the promos, lol. Of course, if that were REALLY true, then DAYS, whose bad promos run neck-and-neck with the actual show, must be as good as "I, Claudius." What are they selling? Soap operas, or fragrances? ("Try Barbara! Exclusively at Jewel Osco!") And speaking of fragrances, would someone please tell the Designer Imposters' version of Jeffrey Osborne to leave the rapping to those who know how? One last note: WHAT THE [!@#$%^&*] IS LISA DOING THERE?
  5. Here's another one: And this one's for you, Kristoff, wherever you are:
  6. Sure! And here's one (for GENERATIONS) clearly done by the folks who produce all of SNL's opening credits sequences:
  7. Incidentally, one of all my-time favorite posts on this board concerned GENERATIONS and how NBCD's promo department always made the otherwise average soap seem more like this:
  8. Oddly enough, those "In the Name of Love" promos make me nostalgic for an ABC that wasn't owned by Disney.
  9. It WAS used in a Danny/Michelle scene, but the commercial is likely what made you fall in love with that song. (Lord knows it couldn't have been Danny and Michelle.)
  10. "Can Damian keep his shirt off? This week, AS THE WORRRLD TURNS."
  11. I get the "Heat of the Day." What I DON'T get are the generic, mostly faceless images that don't reference any shows or actors. It's like watching a precursor to the OLTL opening from the Linda Gottlieb era.
  12. Apparently, bad promos are in NBC Daytime's DNA. Here are two others that show the department's total lack of imagination or excitement for their soaps:
  13. I hope none of the DAYS actors in that "It Will Excite You" promo suffered whiplash. Here's a favorite of mine that really sells the hell out of CBSD's 1985 lineup, with a catchy pop song ("Some Like It Hot" by Power Station), combined with choice scene picks for each soap (Y&R, ATWT, CAPITOL and GL), for a tight, relentless package.
  14. Between the music and the lingering looks, I feel as if I'm watching an EST seminar. I believe it was created before.
  15. True dat. Mama Khan LOOOOOOOOOVES "Murder, She Baked" and I'm like --
  16. "Indentured servitude" is what white people call "slavery" to make themselves feel less like the scum of the earth. See also: "sharecropping."
  17. When it comes to the former Deborah Jo Hunter, anything is possible.
  18. "It's a match made in soap opera and Hallmark heaven...as ALL MY CHILDREN's Susan Lucci and GENERAL HOSPITAL's Vanessa Marcil team up to play the world's most glamorous mother-and-daughter crime-solving duo in...'The Supermodel Mysteries'. Coming this Summer to Hallmark Movies & Mysteries."
  19. Let's see... Watching Charlie's Angels (weekdays on Me-TV) The Jeffersons (weekdays on Me-TV) Mama's Family (weekdays on Me-TV) Murder, She Wrote (everyday on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries) Various movies on Hallmark Channel Bingeing Law & Order (marathons on SundanceTV and WEtv) Streaming Charlie's Angels (episodes on Pluto TV) Episodes of Mystery Science Theater 3000 and Rifftrax on Pluto TV
  20. It's true. Julie Poll, who worked on the writing staff, admitted as much to one of the soap mags. According to Poll, that move was unusual on his part, as he rarely changed the outcome on his stories.
  21. Heart scares, public tumbles.... Honey, it's time to think about slowing down.
  22. The minute she picked up what appeared to be a pamphlet, I knew Sheila Jackson-Lee was going in on Whittaker. ETA: Oh, it's a copy of the Constitution! Oh, Lawd! Don't tell me she was ready to whup his bald ass with a copy of the Constitution!?
  23. But why does the media love the GOP so much? Is it just because they generate the most drama?
