It's just sad that I live in a state that's been a lock for the Republicans since dinosaurs roamed the earth.

I'm with @JaneAusten: the so-called "Kennedy mystique" is an antiquated notion. They might have been on the right side of history when it counted, but at the end of the day, they're still an embodiment of white privilege and toxic masculinity.

Search For Tomorrow Discussion Thread
Wait a second, is that "Dainty June" Havoc in a cheap wig and Rhoda scarf, lol? The cast are doing their best, but it's clear SFT is on borrowed time. David Lawrence was a very weak EP, IMO, who was hired solely to turn out the lights for the last time.

Y&R: Ed Scott Returns As Senior Producer
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why you should never, ever marry your boss. IDC how well Y&R was doing in the ratings. When Ed and Melody married, someone at Sony or CBS should have made the decision to have Ed leave the show.

The Media/Journalism Thread
That's perhaps the most ironic part of the MSM's relationship with Donald Trump: no matter how much they attempt to tip the scales of this election in his favor, they refuse to see just how vulnerable they would be in a second Trump administration.

The Politics Thread
My philosophy this election season is simple: ignore the polls. Even when the polls say we (Democrats) are ahead, ignore them. Just pretend we still are way behind and then do whatever we need to do to keep the pressure on our opponents. Oh, and never, ever trust the media, under any circumstances, lol.

Y&R: Ed Scott Returns As Senior Producer
Keep in mind, sports fans, Ed Scott's coming back, but as SENIOR producer, not as an EP. There's only so much he'll be able to do on the creative front, but if he can somehow improve the show visually and aesthetically, then I'll take that as a win.

Knots Landing
Did Abby love her family (including her late brother's kids)? Absolutely. But, just like with Karen, Abby also had control issues. She just couldn't wrap her head around Olivia being a drug addict, or getting mixed up with men like Peter Hollister or Harold Dyer, so she did what she could to get her daughter back in line.

Y&R: Ed Scott Returns As Senior Producer
I definitely agree about the amazing things Ed Scott was able to accomplish at DAYS. Granted, the writing still sucked; but for the first time since the end of Al Rabin's second tenure, DAYS had a showrunner who knew how to make every dollar count on screen.

Paddy Chayefsky tried his best to warn us that the world was no longer divided by nations but by corporations; but in 1976, and for many years afterward, everyone thought he was being hysterical. And now we're all paying the price. The only presidential candidate in my lifetime who, IMO, could communicate to the public the most abstract ideas was Bill Clinton. He is intelligent, but he's also personable, and able to "make it make sense" for the average, low- or no-information voter. Tim Walz is another, plain-spoken fellow, though, who can communicate directly to voters without coming across as either simplistic or patronizing. At the end of the day, however, I don't worry about whether this-or-that candidate can "give good interview." I don't even worry over what promises they make during their campaigns (although, presenting visions and goals to voters is never a bad idea) because I know promising something and actually being able to fulfill that promise are two different things. But I DO worry about whether they have the right qualifications and background for the job - and IMO, Kamala Harris is ready to be president.

IOW, the Beltway media wants to play "Gotcha!" with the Democrats, and for once, Kamala Harris and Tim Walz are taking a hard pass.

Diana's choice to "stand by her man" might seem outrageous, but - and I think @Vee is the one who has argued this in the past - it makes sense if you believe that Diana has always been an awkward and insecure young woman, who now feels like the luckiest girl in the world, because a handsome young man like Chip (seemingly) loves her. Karen, however, can't see the situation from her daughter's perspective because, in her eyes, Diana has so much going for herself, and can do a lot better than some sociopathic con man and murderer.

I think that was the most honest answer anyone could have given for what, if anything, could have saved SaBa. The truth is, SaBa could have become as good as GL or Y&R was at that time, and it wouldn't have made any difference. I think viewers had given up on SaBa long before the network gave up on it.

As The World Turns Discussion Thread
I agree that Hogan Sheffer had a very nice team in place when he joined the show. Jeff Beldner, Hal Corley, Carolyn Culliton, Stephen Demorest and others were "leftovers" from previous HW'ing regimes, but they seemed to know how to ground Sheffer's more outlandish ideas in some kind of reality. It was they, and not Sheffer himself, who helped me stick with the show through that period. Once that "brain trust" was broken apart, however, I was pretty much done with ATWT.

Guiding Light Discussion Thread
ICAM! Compared to DAYS, GH and OLTL, JFP's first year at GL looked spectacular, lol. IIRC, Robert Calhoun didn't raise ATWT's ratings at first either. In fact, even after Douglas Marland returned as HW, the show remained in the middle of the pack. But everyone who was paying attention agreed that ATWT was improving; and, over time, the ratings did rise. So, it's possible the same could've happened for RC over at GL, except he didn't stay long enough for anyone to find out.

The Politics Thread
That reminds me of a story I read once about how Alfred Hitchcock, while collaborating with Ernest Lehman on the script for "North by Northwest," wanted the bad guys who were chasing after Cary Grant's character to try and kill him with a tornado. "But THEY are the ones chasing him," Lehman replied. "How are THEY going to send a tornado to kill him?" It's the same, screwy logic that suggests the WH is deliberately lowering gas and food prices because it's an election year; and no matter how times you remind them that the president has no control over such things, they don't believe you. Honestly, we are such a low-information populace, I wonder sometimes whether democracy is too good for us, lol.

BTG: History, Behind the Scenes Articles & Photos
I think the thing to remember is that every soap goes through growing pains and BTG probably won't be any exception. Like I've said before, unless this show does something really heinous at the start and portrays African-Americans in the worst possible light - which I doubt could happen, given the parties involved - I'll cut the show some slack as it works out the kinks.
