B&B April 2022 Discussion Thread
Shelia shot both? How stupid is that? Have Steffy fall and hit her head on one of those trash containers or the sidewalk. I suppose Sheila donates an organ/bone marrow and the family keeps it secret is the only way back. Worse, I don't buy for a second that Sheila would try to kill the mother of her grandchild. This isn't a twist - it's twisted - and not in a good way.

Y&R April 2022 Discussion Thread
Bringing Diane back serves as an odd reminder of her pivotal role on the show going back 40 years. Wasn't the Diane/Jack affair the start of Patty's mental breakdown? It's sometimes hard to believe the character goes back that far, which made the MW's recasting/disaster such a slap. SW has always been a solid actor. I'm glad the writers decided to take Phyllis on a different course - it'll play so much better if they actually follow through.

B&B April 2022 Discussion Thread
A better twist: Steffy deciding to team up with Sheila to get Brooke out of Ridge's life forever instead of sounding like a hypocrite. That alliance would've had some real impact when revealed - Taylor, Ridge, Eric, Hope, Liam, Finn, etc. That would also align with Steffy's real feelings about Brooke + Taylor/Ridge. Give us a full-out Steffy v Brooke. It worked a generation ago - and Brooke certainly isn't the same Beta to Stephanie's Alpha now so that could add some real depths and twists to the rivalry.

Y&R and B&B April (and late March) spoilers
B&B the spoilers indicate Sheila and Li have it out over who's Finn's mother. After Finn/Sheila copied Stefan/Vivian nonsense, Finn must not remember. Obviously, Steffy witnessed it - so the only plausible way is Steffy somehow ends up in the rumored coma for her leave. If Sheila finally gets her 'dream' - it's being a mother to Finn. If that the big game-changing twist, B&B needs a dictionary.

B&B April 2022 Discussion Thread
What's interesting is that Friday's episode was scheduled to air on Wednesday, which means if this IS part of the 'shocking twist that will rock daytime television' that reveal should air on Tuesday (org. Fri.) or Wed (or Mon). So far B&B is really missing the mark - if they'd asked any loyal fan they'd 'shoot' this story down in a second. JMW's leave? Send her to Paris and suddenly Sheila and Taylor/Ridge help Finn raise Hayes. Sheila/Deacon/Brooke/Ridge/Taylor merry-go-round, of course. I do get the sense that KB while accurate in her answer did not indicate 'when.'

B&B April 2022 Discussion Thread
Some how speculated that was the big twist. Don't see: not a game-changer and definitely not a daytime first - exactly the same as DAYS - Vivian shooting her son as he dives across the screen. I honestly don't get why they completely waste KB. This was potentially her most viable stint and one that could've lasted for some time. It'd be far more interesting keeping Sheila as a pot-stirrer rather than a felon. Big deal she switched the bottles - that's not a 'gun-worthy' reveal. Anyway, Brooke's alcoholism was an out-of-nowhere story that got cut short because was DOA. Brooke had like four weeks of heavy drinking and suddenly she's an alcoholic - unlike, say, Eric, who must have his daily after-office drinks.

Y&R and B&B March 2022 spoilers
Yeah, the Steffy in a coma is a popular theory, but how is that groundbreaking? What's the point of erasing nearly 2 years of story? I get JMW is going on leave, but just put her in a coma again. Is this when Sally was on her way to Y&R? The irony is that B&B would likely redo nearly every story all over again - Carter/Quinn, psycho Thomas, etc. B&B is already repetitive enough!

Y&R and B&B March 2022 spoilers
Definitely hype. And the Maya story was a gimmick without a purpose. Worse, B&B not only finally figured out what to do with Maya after languishing in the background, but also managed to a lead female POC. It was all undone in a matter of weeks with no real fallout except boxing in Rick/Maya permanently. The Ridge/C2/Rick/Maya scenes were fantastic - they should've focused on expanding that story. At least the 'never been done before' eliminates cloning, aliens, time jumps (past/present), body switching, afterlife, etc. Unless Sheila carried Ridge/Taylor's biological child (Finn) - something no one would want to watch - there's not much left that's novel on daytime that could even be plausible on B&B. Even the Steffy has really been Phoebe - so what? There's no long-term storyline in having JMW play dual roles. B&B is not DAYS or, even GH. Sensationalism simply doesn't fit the established structure of the show. B&B is doing quite well - no clue why they feel they need a stunt.

What would your major B&B twist be?
B&B is one of the most limited soaps I've ever watched. They do triangles and, excel at remotes, but pretty much fail at everything else. It has to be the only soap that has never been able to do a real murder mystery. - except for the Aussie illogically screaming 'It was MUH-DAH!' with the horrible Ally exit. B&B hypes up stories - Myron, Brooke's alcoholism, Spectra Designs return, etc. - but always end up retooling in incredibly short order. The only 'shocking' story that really resonated with the baby switch. B&B shouldn't bother with this kind of hype, they don't need it - the ratings are incredibly consistent and I'm sure international sales are probably still OK.

YR actress returns (spoiler!!!)
Glad they are showing the Diane/Phyllis stuff. At one point, PB even commented that the real chemistry was between MS/SW. If they go the 'fake death plan' between Diane/Adam, I wonder if they'll recreate some sort of flashback since, well, you know. Gosh, let's hope this kick-starts some action on Y&R.
-
YR actress returns (spoiler!!!)
Exactly. Worst story, logic and execution. I actually preferred Cane being Jill's son. It was also a huge slap to on-screen history as well as the whole premise of why he did it. Diane's resurrection isn't even in the same league - especially since Diane was planning on faking her death. It really doesn't matter. At least SW is a solid actor and has great chemistry will a lot of actors still on canvas.
-
YR actress returns (spoiler!!!)
Another possibility is that Kyle was aware Diane was alive, but kept it secret knowing how many people really wanted her dead. It would be a far better twist and certainly cause a ton of friction with Jack and Summer. It'll be boring if they bring back Kyle just so he can cry and rant on his mom for two weeks and then disappear.
-
YR actress returns (spoiler!!!)
Um, compared to Philip's 'death' and resurrection - this is nothing! Y'all act like Y&R hasn't done this stuff before. Anyway, SW was solid as Diane. Killing off the character was simply idiotic. Thank goodness, MW ended up in a far better situation at GH.

Bold & Beautiful '35 Bold Years' Promo March 21-25
Bottom line: Brooke opens her very large heart whenever Destiny calls.... I'm curious: Has Brooke been the character with the most different partners on B&B? Shaming Brooke is the epitome of double-standard. If Brooke were a man, say Victor Newman, and they paraded his 'greatest loves,' no one would blink an eye.

Bold & Beautiful '35 Bold Years' Promo March 21-25
It's better they didn't do anything big for this week - already they are a day-behind the original schedule because of that one full pre-emption. I'm sure they'll be partial pre-emptions for the Supreme Court hearings this week, too. The Brooke/Bad Santa 'romance' should stay in the past. Anyway, Brooke's best pairing were Deacon and Bill.

Days of our Lives 1/31/2022 Weekly Preview Promo
Disappointing about Craig because it undermines the premise that Nancy didn't need to be a young, skinny, hot hair model to attract a man like Craig. Craig used Nancy as a cover. What a shame.

B&B Major Character Recast!
I caught the Xmas Eve episode and was amazed how KA channeled Taylor vibes. I love HT, but Taylor has been off-canvas for too long. Even with the wig, KA sold me.

Actors who looked like members of their soap families (and those that didn't)
DAYS: BB + VK definitely could be Hope's children. Seeing Carrie and Anna on Beyond Salem reminded me how believable they are as mother/daughter. B&B: as noted, they have this category nailed for the most part - except for Liam/Wyatt + Bill. However, LG's Caroline 2.0 looked like JJ's daughter.

DAYS Promo: Week of 11/8/21
I'd agree with you about MM, but after the Stefan/Jake flop, it might be better to make Charlie, Jack/EJ 2.0. What Charlie did was horrible, but compared to Gabi/Ben? MM appears to be a good enough actor to pull off a redemption storyline. Bottom line: if EJ & Jack weren't played by good actors, they would've been written out. DAYS has little to lose by bringing him back.

DAYS Promo: Week of 11/8/21
Exactly. If Susan was a 'big' twist, they wouldn't reveal it explicitly. Side note: Can MarDevil permanently resurrect Charlie/Nick? If Dr. Rolf can do it... Plus compared to Gabi (premeditated murder/attempted murder), Ben, Kristen, etc., they can call Salem home. Is Charlie's crime that significantly different than Jack, EJ, etc?

Days of Our Lives: November 2021 Discussion Thread
The better choice: Gwen stays pregnant at least for a while. Chad moves her into DiMera mansion, which sends Abby to Boston (for MM's leave). That would've spared us the Dr. Snyder dud. PT/EoB have done best they can. Gwen mixing it up with EJ, Johnny, Tony, Anna couldn't be worse than what's been on. Throw in Stefan/Gabi dropping by. Bonus: Gwen tries to make amends by taking care of the kids in Abby's absence. EJ welcomes Xander, his old friend, back into fold and that's how Gander connect.

Days of Our Lives: November 2021 Discussion Thread
I had a crappy week and found the Halloween episodes to be so campy and out there - it was a great guilty pleasure. I missed the 'Nick' years - um, why would DAYS get rid of BB - he has complete presence. Same with MM. Poor VI - Deimos was such a rotten character - even VI couldn't salvage those scene. Credit AZ with the best + most realistic reaction. The Gwen reveal writing was horrific. Once Abby spouted out what clearly was the truth, Gwen should've owned it and flipped it: 'I was so distraught after I lost my baby. I came to the mansion to tell Chad the news, but you, Abigail, ripped into me. After I fell, I was still in shock. Dr. Snyder took advantage of my post-miscarriage trauma, blah, blah, blah.' That would've worked far better. It was strange that the whole reveal was done in two episodes - no real build-up - immediately after that WTH all 4 in jail story. Sometimes I just don't get what they're thinking. Kristen: Are they trying to make us hate her? It was illogical for her to throw a tantrum after EJ's letter. Kristen's not stupid - she knows the business would be hurt with EJ taking her case. He's not abandoning her. So we get more bad SH scenes where she crumbles paper, throws her hands around and get irrationally hysterical. This is 100% a writing choice. It could've been so much better having Kristen tell Chad how much she appreciates her brothers supporting her even after all the bad choices she's made.

Days: 'Deceased Former Baddies' Return
Resurrecting Nick is easy - One of the Dimera's got Rolf to resurrect him as payback for Gabi getting a share. Forget the timelines (on the 'island'), the body rotted a decade ago, back from 'dead-dead' IS part of DAYS universe. Why bother with the brother angle - Jake is evidence that can flop easily. They should've simply brought him back as Stefan.

Days of Our Lives: October 2021 Discussion Thread
BB is the only way to go... The Abe anniversary episode was well done. It was also a reminder that Lexie should've been recast, not killed off. I love RJ, but she chose to leave. EJ and Nicole are pure fire. Rare good writing: having Nicole immediately own why she let Steve hack EJ's phone instead of dragging that out as a secret. DF has been yet another excellent addition to the cast. At least Belle knows something is off with MarDevil. Belle/Shawn should be on more frequently - Shawn instead of Rafe and more Belle with EJ Leann Hunley's ability to take that ridiculous premise - Anna (now) as Kristen (then) - shows just how good she is. 🤣 Though back in the day, LH was beyond stunning. In some ways, ED's Kristen was a physical replacement of Anna.

B&B Major Character Recast!
I love HT, but she passed, so that's that. As far as the age thing, please don't tell me that HT ever 'looked' her bio-age. Even with all her tweaks, she doesn't look 59. Rena Sofer is 52 and Darin Brooks is 37. And without being mean, they don't even look 15 years apart and it's never been an issue.
