  1. Thanks! And you're right about Dorothy Lyman. Idk if they're still there, but there were clips on YouTube of her scenes at the coronation. In one of them, she had a brief conversation with Tyler Christopher who played Signor Cristofero, or something like that I think the ratings had already plummeted before that, around 1978 after the Sven storyline ended. That was around the time that Monty and Marland revitalized GH and it soared. I wonder what Lemay thought after that happened; his friend and protégé was now his competition
  2. Yeah. Kale Browne said something like that on the AW reunion. He said filming away from everything, in Brooklyn really allowed the cast to bond and become close with one another. It’s a shame if VW wasn’t apart of that.
  3. What role was she supposed to play?
  4. Tbh, I'm surprised Warren Burton lasted as long as he did on AW. The character of Jason really seemed like a non-entity after the whole Russ/Tracy thing ended. His relationship with Melissa went nowhere and the whole turning Jamie's book into a movie thing that he got involved with in 1982, from what I've seen and read about it seemed pointless from the very beginning. I guess around the time that he and David Canary both left, Paul Rauch fatigue had set in, which after 12 years would make perfect sense. It seems like there might have been a clash of egos from everybody. Which brings me to the question, did Paul Rauch leave on his own or was he fired? His last years were a mess. I'd give anything to have Victoria Wyndham write a memoir about her years on AW. If she was unhappy, why did she stay so long? Well, everybody always had nice things to say about Douglass Watson and Constance Ford. What stories have you heard about AW actors being unhappy?
  5. Yeah, he said in the last stream that he started working on ATWT and GL in 1997. To me, this one seemed a little boring. This group really couldn't carry a conversation as well as the other two groups could, IMO. I'm looking forward to next Friday's.
  6. It took him about half of the stream but he was finally able to hold it upright. They spent more time talking about the quarantine than ATWT.
  7. Completely boring. Not like the other two ATWT's streams at all.
  8. It's back on now, and the audio is much better
  9. The man is a stupid, hypocritical, corrupt bum. Pure and simple. Pretty much the only he was reelected was because he's a Democrat and NYC is a Democrat city, not because people actually liked him. That election was reported to have one of the lowest voter turnouts in NYC history.
  10. Don't panic. From what I've read on this thread, it seems like the stress of this crap may end up hurting people more than the virus itself. I'm in NYC. I ride the nasty, crowded subway every single day, sometimes as much as four times a day and I am perfectly fine. True, I carry a bottle of Purell with me every time I'm on the train, I wash my hands constantly and I try to not be in close contact with people but I am fine. Honestly, I do believe the media is fearmongering instead of trying to calm people's fears and anxieties. And just for the record, I despise politics with a passion, so don't attack me as Trump supporter, science denier, etc. Just take precautions, do what's best for you and your loved ones and stay calm.
  11. What the media often fails to report is that of those 120,000 cases, over 66,000 have recovered from the disease.
  12. Apparently, there were a lot of mistakes made at this time from JFP, her writers and the suits at NBC and P&G. Some people wanted AW gone, some wanted to turn it into a DOOL clone. What was the deal with that vampire story anyway? What was it about? Thankfully, it was pulled before it really took off. What surprises me is that one of her headwriters was Tom King, who was Harding Lemay's protégé and successor. He wrote some really good stuff in 1979-1980, and yet his tenure under Phelps was a mess. Was there interference from the higher ups or was King suddenly a hack? Coincidentally, this is where my memories of AW begin. I was 3 going on 4 at the time, and I used to watch with my Mom and Grandma.
  13. They call your kind intelligent. Same goes for you too, @Khan This is why I’m probably not gonna vote at all in November. You can’t replace a bad guy with another bad guy. It just doesn’t work out for anybody in the end.
  14. I'm sure I'll find out if I keep watching the playlist, but I don't want to wait anymore: why does Sally call Clarke "Bucky"?
  15. June 30 ended up being the day that the Texas storylines began on Another World. If it was postponed for no other reason just to bring Iris into it, that sounds like a pretty bad move. I know Beverlee McKinsey had great star power but it does seem kind of risky to place it all on her shoulders.
  16. Maybe NBC and P&G thought it looked good on paper because there did seem to be a lot of good ideas for the show, and it could have worked a lot better if AW had not taken that steep drop in the ratings around that time. It's hard to launch a brand new soap even under normal circumstances, and with GH doing so well, the deck was pretty much stacked against Texas. I'm guessing it was probably just another bone-headed decision by the execs., who were panicking over NBC's drop and ABC's rise and just went ahead with the first idea that came to mind, without spending enough time on it to think it through. I can only imagine what meetings and conferences must have been like at NBC at this time. That might've worked. The appeal of Beverlee McKinsey was definitely strong enough to get people to follow her to the next hour. Agreed. I liked the Bellmans too, and I'm glad they were included. But a lot of Texas characters, particularly Billy Joe and Nita and the Dekker siblings (except for Terry) did not need to be introduced on AW.
  17. Just out of curiosity, do you think introducing all of the Texas characters and storylines on Another World helped or hurt Texas in the long run? Were there any fans who saw those episodes of AW and were like, "Wow, I'm definitely gonna start watching Texas"?
  18. True. I'm a big fan of Lemay too but he did do a lot of damage. He's lucky he was such a talented writer and had a talented cast to work with, otherwise AW might have been cancelled long before 1999. I don't think there's been a soap opera family that was as decimated as much as the Matthews family. Some others come close, but I think the Matthewses have all of them beat. That's one of the things that I like about DOOL, and B&B too; the original families are still featured. I noticed that too. When it came to Connie Ford, he was the inexperienced writer but when it came to Virginia Dwyer, she was the inexperienced actress. I love that book, and Lemay was one of the best writers in the business, but every time I read it, I understand more and more how much of an ass he was lol.
  19. Virginia Dwyer is one of the AW actors where I wish more of her work was available to see. From what I've seen and heard, she seemed like a really good actress who likely got a raw deal from Rauch and Lemay. I've always wondered how much of it was her and how much of it was Lemay just not liking her and not liking the fact that she wasn't going to adhere to his style.
  20. AWHP estimates that P&G didn't start saving the tapes until about October 1979, however on Eddie Drueding's YT page there are some audio clips of that famous scene, plus the scene in which Jim tells Mary about what Rachel did and Mary flips out.
  21. It was a huge mistake to not bring Susan, and Marie, who’s original portrayer is still alive (and appeared in the first episode!) back for the 50th anniversary.
