  1. Noticed this after my og post but the beginning of Nick and Grace.
  2. during the who shot Victor storyline Nikki calls for a gynecologist appointment and is told her regular doctor is not well so she will be referred to a new doctor, Joshua Landers. interesting to see the set up for the next few years of history, in the middle of an ongoing storyline. Soaps are not good at this anymore!
  3. Speaking of Tracy and Ashley but the pre-scenes to Tracy's hospital fight with Lauren have been uploaded to YouTube. always wanted to see this and I'm not sure if this was posted already. surprised the hospital fight wasn't shown during the anniversary episode.
  4. SAME THINGS I SAID😂
  5. I mean I can see why they're trying to recall Laura she's good friends with the town's gangster amongst other issues lol. This was Mac's problem as DA, he was too close to the trouble makers.
  6. Some good flashbacks even though we didnt meditate enough on each scene. Lol Ashkey kind of embelleshed how Victor came to be Abby's dad👀. The anniverasry episodes have been the best episodes in the past few years, as well as the Diane episode with the heavy amount of flashbacks.
  7. In the beginning Steffy was more like Brooke and Hope was more like (pre 2005) Taylor. Hope was calmer and the nice one where was Steffy was the wilder, villanous and more sexually agressive one.
  8. Agreed that OLTL was great at dark, gritty, crime Riverdale type stories. Charachters like Mitch, Hannah, the Music Box Killer, Lindsay, Powell and others exemplified this. AMC was also good and showing different social classes. On the one hand you had the hood and characters like Noah, while there was the rich Jack, Erica and David. Y&R was better at storyline organization. Because the show had a medium sized cast with clear star players in comparison to As the World Turns per say, it's easier to understand the show's history and character relationships as many characters existed in orbits and did not interact with each other. GH excels at storyline diversity and that's why I consider it the greatest soap. It has romance, crime, action/adventure, medicine, sci fi, fantasy, social issues and to a lesser extent.. business.
  9. I can't believe that Standalone episode was three years ago already!
  10. Diane & Sheila writing aside are great to see again on the CBS soaps.
  11. Special reports ways seem to happen between 12:30 & 4 pm especially affecting the cbs soaps on the east coast.
  12. Yes! ATWT especially excelled at the community vibe and multigenerational cast. Y&R and to a lesser extent B&B was really good at making the cliché corporate drama on soaps interesting.
  13. Alan, Emily & Edward's deaths really killed the Quartermaines until recently.
  14. What are some elements that each soap may do better than another soap. For example I think AMC and OLTL were better at writing causal dialogue than Y&R. For example a lot of the dialogue in old-school Y&R with strictly plot related but on AMC you could get characters discussing general things. I remember a scene where Marcy was explaining to Ryan what peel was when he was trying to scheme at the radio station. Y&R charachters tend to talk in formal diction and it seems like some interactions lack depth. Moreover the AMC and OLTL were better at injecting humor than old school Y&R. Todd in the early 2000s along with Alex, Starr, Asa, and Nikki Smith could make you laugh at times. Y&R was a heavy and serious show. The most laughs I got were the insulting interactions between Katherine and Brenda Dixon's Jill. Finally GH tops Y&R in continuity and acknowledgment of historY. On General Hospital you get flashback scenes of Felicia and Ryan or random references to Peter Herald and characters from the past. On Y&R you'd hardly ever know that Paul and Lauren were ever married or that Jack used to be Paul's brother in law because it's hardly ever mentioned. Young would just drop characters from the canvas like Sharon's mom and never mentioned them again.
  15. What would surprise me? Y&R : Mary Jo returning amid all this Keemo and Diane history re-hash. -Heather Tom returning as Victoria since they undid the Phyliss recast -Drucilla returning since CBS seems to be bringing back blasts from the past -Sheila crossing over and facing Lauren again since she's run her course over supposedly killing Finn on B&B DAYS getting cancelled B&B - Susan Flannery making a guest appearance as Stephanie's ghost
  16. I don't know if this was ever posted here before but the entire who shot Victor storyline from 1996. I remember clips of this being up years ago in lower (VCR) quality:
  17. History repeats itself. 2002, Sheila in jail for "killing" the secretly alive Taylor and wounding Brooke. 2022 Sheila in jail for "killing the secretly alive Finn and wounding Steffy. Now Mike is back! 1990-2002 and 2005 are the only Sheila years I care for.
  18. So in a nutshell... Zende wants Paris who wants Carter who wants Quinn who wants Eric who wants Donna. A love line or pentagon of sorts.
  19. scenes from victor's '96 shooting have surfaced. these scenes really highlight how insecure and bitchy Nikki really was (and in someways still is). Christine handled this well. These were Cricket's good years, better actor than she was in the 80s and less miserable than she was in the 2000s.
  20. GH: C sloppy plotting and overbloated cast featuring stunt casted actors, at least stuff happens. B&B D+: Poorly written, repetitive plotting and dialouge, yet there's a few twists to keep eyeballs on the screen sometimes Y&R D+: Diane's return added some life to the canvas, but overall it's boring. DAYS: I don't watch it enough to grade it but I know there's piss poor production values and it's past its prime Question: I know budget cuts constrain production values, but did soaps forget how to write? Any prime time show with daytime's current level of quality would've been canned a long time ago.
  21. My favorite CBS promos were "everything is everything", and "get in on", as well as the Clarance stuff from the late 80s.
  22. I liked OLTL's Christian, Jessica, Natalie, Jen, Seth, to a degree.
  23. What were some of your favorite or least favorite teen/young people groups on soaps? Favorite: DAYS was pretty good with Sami, Austin, and Carrie GH: Robin, Brenda, Karen, Jagger, AJ, Jason Unimpressive: GH: Josslyn, Cam, (Spencer, Esme and Trina are okay but the writing is sloppy). What are your thoughts about OLTL's teen scene with Starr, Cole, James & Langston + ?
  24. Yes! I don't mind Kay as business player if it gives her story outside of obsessing over Jill and Phillip. But bitter 70s-90s Kay made for great television and would have been more entertaining than the sweet old lady role that older actresses often become relegated to.
  25. Y&R: anytime Nikki walked in on Victor talking to a woman she viewed as a threat-- and the woman was about to leave the room due to awkwardness-- Nikki would say "Please, don't leave on my account". Examples: Diane Jenkins and Christine. Y&R: Nikki constantly crying, usually due to some jealousy or relationship based arguments, lol. 😂
