  1. I feel like at this point they'll refuse to let go of airing her show until she's a corpse. And even then, who knows?
  2. It does have a certain clearinghouse sale feel.
  3. Vee replied to dragonflies's topic in Music & Movies
I am very skeptical about this without Craven or a script from Williamson, and I think Scream 4 was the best in the series tbh. But it looks fun so I'll show up. Nothing is worse than Scream 3.
  4. Literally everyone here knows the poster in question is a longstanding troll with multiple sockpuppet accounts, lol. I couldn't care less what you think of me, just don't feed the larger problem everyone else already knows about.
  5. I think it was meant to distinguish him from his very well-known role on OLTL as Carlo/Mortimer.
  6. They've been doing this for years bc at least some of the folks at the show just want to have It both ways and write for a slightly harder-edged Carly Snyder. It ain't who Ava is and when Maura tries to play it it comes off even campier than everything else she does in the role (most of which I welcome). I'm not saying Ava can't have emotions and pathos and layers, but this whole thing where she weeps and wrings her hands over peons isn't her. Nor was it when she first got involved with TC's Nikolas and began rhapsodizing about 'always wanting to be a princess as a little girl.'
  7. Per a spot of Googling, she apparently visited the facility late last year as a 'celebrity guest'. She was walking with a cane but looked about the same as she did on the Locher Room. It made local press, which I doubt it would have done if she was visiting as a potential inpatient with dementia. (Frankly I'm also not convinced she would've done two of those shows in the last year if dementia or Alzheimer's were an issue; I was always under the impression it begins appearing much earlier than Hays' age) If it's true it's a tragedy but either way I hope she's living comfortably. On a brighter note, bc I'm ignorant I had no idea until recently that Irna had done the 'heroic other woman' story at least twice - once with Kim but also with Edith Hughes. That was news to me and no one else, I'm sure. Is any of Edith still around online?
  8. When Johnny stops delivering his lines like a Disney tour guide, then he can talk about gritty realism!
  9. The difference between those handful of guys and Manchin/Sinema is they buckle much more easily under pressure.
  10. It just seems like one crazy thing on top of another until they add a lady with a baby - "no, no!!" The only thing the scene was missing was a local animal act being inadvertently brought in next, like some bears or an elephant.
  11. I don't understand why soaps always have the local civilians playing the roles in their supposed big-budget movies. Sometimes they're supposed to be independent films but I was under the impression this is a major script Will is hoping to sell to a studio. At least Edge of Night had the pretense of major Hollywood stars coming to town and filming there.
  12. I'll never get over Thom Christopher's incredible wig as Dante.
  13. The way I responded was due to constant pushback re: acknowledging even the possibility these young actors could leave the show off-contract. When I brought it up I was talking about something that was a historical fact, and I kept getting replies insisting it won't happen. I learned a long, long time ago in my own life how to defend my own voice due to experiences which you know nothing about, and because of that when people keep telling you you're not allowed to give your opinion based on facts and your intellect I know how to dig in. If you know anything about me, you know that. I can absolutely be condescending, but here I was stating facts. If you have a problem with that conversation, which ended civilly as I tried my level best to explain that it was not about John but about the history of this sort of contract situation, you are more than welcome to PM me and talk about it straight up. Or you can report it. That always works. But I'm done with it.
  14. She got good notices for Candyman and some other things recently, so I think you'll see her sparingly at best on DAYS.
  15. Listen, I like "William" and "Sydney" too, but they're not my IRL friends. I think they're great on the show. I really hope they stay. But without a contract and as talented as they are they're as liable to dip if a bigger gig comes along as many, many other cases in daytime history. And pointing that issue out is me reading the situation, it's not about ruining your day, so you can stop vociferously insisting it will never happen and just allow for the difference of opinion and live with it. We'll see what happens.
  16. And again, actors always say this. You've been watching soaps for decades too, you know how this scenario often plays out the same as I do. It's not different now just bc of these actors. I'd love for them to stay on the show, but without a contract this easily can go the same way as a million other talented soap actors since the 1960s. It's not suddenly different because you really like them and I'm not wrong for pointing out the long, long historical basis of this.
  17. Actors doing this always say that and so do the soaps employing them. You're just parroting the press release. The fact remains, if they're not on contract and they're talented, they can go at any time. So it'd be nice if they hung around, but until they sign a contract this is likely the same story we've all heard a million times with other actors in the same position.
  18. "Toothless street whore" was hysterically overwrought. I don't know how they all got through the scenes with a straight face.
  19. I'm sure this has been posted, but I stumbled upon it and it was wild. Irna is in here starting around 16:10. I've never seen or heard her in the flesh before.
  20. I don't know that one, no.
  21. I thought the idea of that subliminal messages story was pretty cool. It's a shame it apparently didn't turn out well.
