Bold actress out
Probably at least a little of both of the above.

Bold actress out
I cannot believe B&B let her go. They've been dining out on her talent for years. That show keeps great actors locked up doing total crap for aeons because they have more money and global pull than probably any show left, and the actors seem fine with it; I don't think they'll ever let Heather Tom go, nor do I think she wants to. I seriously doubt Frank V. will spring for RS who is used to real budget and usage. There's also the Wally Kurth issue, and I assume they're in a good place these days but that would likely be sensitive to deal with onscreen. But yes, Lois should be back. Lisa Lo Cicero should be playing Lois, she basically is as Olivia (who has made Lois redundant, sadly), but with Rena free, sure. Figure something out. (They won't, and they'll have no idea how to write for her.)

They also basically wrote the juice into the show at one point with Jason, Spinelli and Claudia cured by some magic acai berry juice, IIRC. The entire affair should've gotten Steve fired for good and the production team and EP censured for enabling his scam. It was so corrupt and transparent, and a classic example of how insular and marginal daytime is as an industry. If that shít went down on primetime the actor would've been fired and the show would've been disciplined so fast it would feel like time travel. But because it was daytime no one in higher power knew or cared until the hand was beyond forced, possibly by Ingo's comments, and either way no one was ever fired and no discipline was ever made public.

Which he sure ain't getting a ton of on DOOL with that shooting schedule and those scripts.

The Politics Thread
Fetterman is skilled at what he does locally and useful for the party. That's as far as I go with him until other distasteful shít related to him ceases. I'm not enamored either, but I could care less about most of what he does atm so long as he wins and votes our way. Meanwhile, another person who should have been fired long ago:

I've always loved Emily Bergl. That's a beautiful tribute.

Y&R actress clarifies status (update page 5)
Whatever her personal curiosity as an actor, I don't believe MM wouldn't have played Hilary if they'd written it. They gave her a boring twin to neutralize the audience investment in a Black female lead and I said so from the jump.

Ron's ego is still coasting on the critical high praise he had at OLTL and from helping to save GH. There were huge issues at both shows that emerged over time, but the soap press/emerging online sphere had so few good things to talk about in those desperate years (and were also parasocial/starfucking) that they couldn't be bothered. And of course now there's so few shows left, and Ron is one of the only writers who truly cares about soaps for better or worse, and most of the last of the soap press just want to see the shows continuing to air so they stay behind him. The problem is that his taste is extremely suspect and his work is lazy and ego-driven. He's the only real de facto 'popular name' left. The point is: He does these things because he can get away with it, because there's no one else left to care and no one left to say he's wrong or goes too far.

Wilson as Pete Cortlandt on AMC had a lot of swagger but also some of the arrogance and imperious temper of James Mitchell's Palmer, his father, and that was in the writing - Pete wasn't just a hunky dreamboat Prince Charming. He also was overcompensating for his geeky adolescence, which Colby Chandler brought up often. Again, RW is no thespian but he played what they gave him well with decent writing. He is likely not capable of playing two unique characters on the same show, let alone selling a reformed serial killer to an audience, but the writing is also doing him no favors and never has.

@DRW50 Seitz is a talented writer but unfortunately makes an egregious error early, saying she was on OLTL and not AW.

She was unpopular with the audience and at the show, IIRC.

I'm with people who don't understand how they do business stories with the DiMera family so straightfaced. That's a function of Dena Higley not understanding tone, IMO. I guess you can make a case for the younger generations like Chad or E.J. or the Stefans/Jakes, or even poor Tony trying to go straight, fine, but with Rolf and Kristen still running around it kind of puts the lie to them being a sane dynasty. I don't dislike business stories, but I have a hard time buying DiMera business stories on DOOL, lol. They will 100% do this after the Kristen debacle and it is just pure hubris and IMO comes out of Ron Carlivati's mind. I think people put some stuff on him unfairly that is institutional, even when there are many bad things that are clearly his brainchild. But this just seems like the same kind of ego that led to the OLTL/GH mess, something Frank Valentini has only quadrupled down on since Ron left ABC. I assume seeing what GH has done since with this kind of chicanery has made Ron think 'sure, why not, I'm the only game in town and people like me, I can do what I want.' If you were going to bring Wilson back (and I don't dislike him, unlike a lot of people; he's no thespian but he works hard in [!@#$%^&*] positions) they could've at least revealed that Ben was, idk, a Kiriakis distant relation or something at the last second, and used that to lampshade the problem and let people acknowledge a resemblance with Alex.

There are all sorts of cranks and trolls on YT who hunt this stuff. I suspect some are just dedicated trolls who haunt boards like ours and use them to keep tabs.

DID aka Multiple Personalities on Soaps
That story destroyed Jessica and did a lot of damage to the show. They did it because Dena Higley was a one-trick stunt queen and because Bree Williamson, a very vibrant personality, was bored playing Jessica, who she was incapable of giving much depth beyond the often poor scripts. Erin Torpey never had that problem.

As The World Turns Discussion Thread
This seems like projection based on your own understandable resentments over the soaps being gone, but do you and mock us as you like. I personally don't think anyone left at P&G gives two [!@#$%^&*] one way or the other to spend the time and expenditure to wipe their rather vast library. I think much of it's either in a garbage dump somewhere, or in some dusty room out of the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark. YMMV.

Not sure what a person on soap twitter has to do with this board. He ain't here and we don't care. This board never has had a problem roasting Jamey Giddens back when he was just one of the little people on the bird app, or a number of others (Branco, anyone?), so I'm not sure why anyone else is off limits.
