  1. She also got annoyed when she was regularly roasted for being obsessed with it - I remember her trying it on one more time last election and snippily noting that people would get on her for it again.
  2. Unsurprising and important.
  3. My mistake! I saw something else saying she was back and I didn't even look close enough, it was a long day. I had no idea Shipp was on Days. I like her even though some people love to roast her.
  4. The compromise is starting from the preexisting poverty of writers and performers in this industry already, including those not covered by the Guilds.
  5. It's such an odd role, this art thief?/crime boss or whatever. Frank clearly keeps it coming back because of their friendship and her OLTL stardom. To hear tell he's bringing back Patrick Gibbons (little Sam Manning) as that Boy Scout character for the umpteenth time and yet more scenes with Roger Howarth when Gibbons, bless him, was adorable as a tot but is not much of an actor as a teen is a whole other can of worms.
  6. What a legacy. And he clearly adored Knots most of all. RIP.
  7. I don't think she sounded off last time for Epiphany's memorial, but I haven't heard this one. I do think it's awful she can't come in, and I do fear the worst.
  8. Jessica Tuck (Megan, OLTL/Cassandra Pierce, GH) talks her latest return to GH. Also discusses some OLTL BTS history.
  9. Ronan Farrow strikes again, @DramatistDreamer @DRW50 As always, use archive.is to bypass the paywall if you encounter one.
  10. Martha has never been cut out for lead and there's a lot of people who just like how friendly she is with the fans and never wanted to hear it or admit it. She's a nice person, she's a reasonable actress and I feel awful for what she may have endured at the show. But she does look matronly, her performances are bland and she was never lead material on any soap. Both MM and BB had real heat with other people - JKJ and Nadia Bjorlin, in the late Sheffer era. That was their last shot at being leads. The show abandoned it and abandoned both characters as leads from then on, because with marginal actors like Madison and Beemer Shawn and Belle are B-players at best.
  11. Somehow I think Bacon's career is intact.
  12. It is, Laughlin is definitely not in that group shot. That's Gillian Spencer and Lynn Benesch next to Agnes.
  13. Do we know what caused that alleged rift?
  14. I've seen that one somewhere. I don't know why I thought that was Trish Van Devere as Meredith above - is it definitely Sharon Laughlin's Viki? I've actually never seen this shot that I know of:
  15. I think both shows (and all of the shows really, even DAYS to an extent - B&B has not really changed in decades IMO) have that same fundamental terror at this point. They fear any true risks would alienate their last sliver of audience vs. trying to grow it again. But Y&R's problem is somewhat more profound to me because as you say they do bring on the new generation - but unlike GH, they just never materially use any of it. GH is caught between two poles but Y&R is in total paralysis to me.
  16. It's the same problem on every remaining soap but especially Y&R and GH. The veterans are not moved out of first position, ever, so you have a traffic jam of squandered generations below them getting older on the vine, and more pointless kids and babies all the time. That's not to say many of these veterans can't still have active and vital story - the age groups of 40-60 are not what they used to be in the '80s or '70s. But there's no attempt to really invest in much of the future generations at Y&R especially. With GH you have a mostly solid recent youth set getting story but too many kids below them, and too many of the wrong played-out people across a wide age range in the frontburner.
  17. Millette Alexander's EON role has always fascinated me from reading up about it on the old EON fan site back in the day. I never saw any of her on GL until much long after. She was a stalwart presence. I don't know if Kevin Bacon has ever talked about her when referencing his time on the show (not that I've ever heard of him talk about it much at all) - didn't he play her ward?
  18. Frank D. was very hot back in the day. By the time the 2000s or mid-2000s rolled around he was kind of dumpy and sad and was clearly kept around out of loyalty. The same could be said for Michael O'Leary, but amazingly MOL has had a bit of a glow-up recently (a la Michael E. Knight, who has grown out of what I termed his uber-depressed "Suicide Tad" years of the 2000s on AMC). He was a bit of a silver fox in, of all things, Halloween Ends, getting slaughtered by Michael Myers.
  19. Happy to bag on Jordan every chance I get lol.
  20. Slowly they turn.... step by step....
