  1. I remember hearing about the character of Marge, but that was a bit before my time. I'll have to look up some old commercials on YT.
  2. You're all welcome! I thought that it would be a nice way to pay tribute to our final two Lizas. I was FB friends with Louan and she was an absolute sweetheart. She played Mrs. Belding on Saved By the Bell (who went into labor and gave birth in a stalled elevator during an earthquake - how very soapy) and the stepmother of Jerry's girlfriend (played by a pre-Gilmore Girls Lauren Graham) on Seinfeld, who put him on her speed dial. "Hello, Jerome." LOL I thought it was a nice touch that Jerry Lanning was interviewed for the article about Sherry. Even though their marriage didn't last, it appears their love and mutual respect did.
  3. That's what I thought. If I'm not mistaken, they first met at Jagger and Karen's wedding.
  4. I want to thank Carl for posting the Sherry article, as well as the Marcia McCabe screen capture and my letter and autographed index card from Louan Gideon. I know that many people on this board are fans of Sherry, so I figured the timing was perfect for the article to be posted. Then I realized I had forgotten to send Carl the first page of the article!!! I just emailed it to him, so I'm sure he'll have it posted here in short order. Watching these recently posted episodes, I find myself skipping over much of the Cagney/Suzi/Warren/Justine/Brett melodrama, as well as the Chase/Adair scenes (though I have enjoyed the father/son scenes with Lloyd and Chase). But I am loving the Liza/Kentucky "partnership", and seeing Jo, Stu, Sunny and Stephanie. Speaking of which, you'll notice in the closing credits that one of the writers at this time was Roger Crews, who was (and still is) the real-life husband of Louise Shaffer. They've been going strong since 1980. :-D
  5. Nope, no one else from RH was on the album. The album was released in 1979, and here's a fun fact - it was produced by Archie Bleyer and distributed on Cadence Records. They were responsible for many of the Everly Brothers' biggest hits.
  6. Ah, the days before cell phones, where people had to rush to find a pay phone.
  7. Hey, I just noticed that there is a listing on eBay for the John Gabriel & Friends LP from 1979 that Sherry Mathis took part in. John Gabriel, who was starring on RH as Dr. Seneca Beaulac at the time, sings most of the songs on the record, but Sherry, Francesca James (AMC), Kelly Wood (ATWT) and Michael Ingram (OLTL) each have one number. There are several pictures of the album cover and the album itself on eBay, and the back cover lists a short bio for each star who participated. Here's the one for Sherry: "Sherry Mathis (Liza Kaslo on SEARCH FOR TOMORROW) is from Memphis, Tennessee, and has been singing in musicals for years. She played Guinevere in Camelot opposite handsome Jerry Lanning - and recently married him. So many fans have loved her singing "THERE WILL BE SWEETER DAYS" on SEARCH that she's done it for this album." Fun fact: The album was produced and distributed by Archie Bleyer and Cadence Records, who were responsible for many of the Everly Brothers' hits. I wish that some big cheese would put this on iTunes!!!
  8. slick - +1. LOL
  9. Wow!! He keeps posting these eps at breakneck speed. Awesome!!
  10. Thanks!! I always refer to him as the scary, angry Pat. LOL The John Gabriel & Friends LP is listed on eBay, with a complete track listing. Of course "Jillian's Theme" aka "Hello Again" is there, as is a song he co-wrote for his real-life wife, Sandy Gabriel. Another song he covers is one EVERYONE loves - Morris Albert's "Feelings". AAAAH!! The "friends" of the title are Sherry Mathis (Liza Sentell) of SFT, who sings "There Will Be Sweeter Days", Kelly Wood (Mary Ellison, ATWT) who performs "You Needed Me", Francesca James (Kelly Cole, AMC) with her rendition of "You Light Up My Life", and Michael Ingram (Vinnie Wolek, OLTL) who covers one of The Carpenters' biggest hits, "For All We Know". Has anyone ever listened to this album back in the day? Would anyone here bid for it on eBay?
  11. Not to mention that Paul Avila Mayer, who along with Claire Labine, created, headwrote and exec-produced RH, later was co-writer of SFT, but I don't know if any of the RH players mentioned here were still on the show by the time he came aboard. Does anyone know?
  12. Yup, I've seen the pictures and they are great. I would LOVE for his DAYS work to surface someday. From what I read, his character of Eric Peters probably could have benefited from a few sessions with Dr. Kroger!!! LOL
  13. I know - Liza had the worst in-laws, didn't she? I think the only ones who liked her were Martin and another of Travis' cousins, Lee Sentell (who was once engaged to Sunny).
  14. Liza's late husband, Travis, was Cord's cousin.
  15. Yeah, it's not like Liza couldn't afford a car phone!! LOL
  16. If ever a scene shows how harder things were in a pre-mobile world, it's the one where Liza's car breaks down. No cell phone, and save for her little flashlight, it's dark and who knows if there is a pay phone anywhere? I love watching these shows where characters have to rush to find payphones in the pre-cell phone era.
  17. Does anyone know if any of the late Stanley Kamel's work on DAYS is online anywhere? I loved him as Dr. Kroger on Monk - and would love to see him in his soap role. I know his story was mainly with Susan Hunter Martin. Did he get to act at all with Denise Alexander, or had she already defected to GH by then?
  18. Well, anyone can write (or have ghostwritten) a tell-all. Ask anyone in Hollywood!! LOL
  19. I give her props for walking away to be there full-time for her kids, but what a bummer to soap fans who actually LIKE quality writing.
  20. How long after Travis died did Kentucky come on the show? I do believe it was Rod Arrants' choice to leave the show once his contract was up. It's a shame Will Patton didn't sign a contract because his relationship was Liza was sheer fun - and he was great at playing a guy who knew how to annoy and charm a woman at the same time. Plus, we would have been spared the whole Lloyd/Hogan saga. It would be great if there was more Liza/Travis available. I especially would love to see their story from the very beginning, to when Steve Kaslo dies and a dashing young billionaire businessman named Travis Sentell comes to town, instantly smitten with and charmed by the widow Kaslo. Speaking of Rod Arrants, he hit the big 7-0 a few days ago (9/5/1944). Wow!!
  21. Yes, no one can say that she didn't try! Then, when she couldn't find work out West, she went back to NYC and ended up creating roles on AMC and Loving. The latter, especially, provided her with a great opportunity to play a quasi-villainess in Deborah Brewster.
  22. I guess some people are addicted to decorating and re-decorating. Val should have gotten a show on the DIY network. LOL Maybe she could have turned to a career in flipping houses!!
  23. Did Nancy Curlee ever write for another soap after her successful run on GL? It seems that her stories and characterizations were very well liked by many fans.
  24. Congrats are in order for Susan Diol, who played Angela Holliday from 1993-94. Over the weekend, she married a certain Mr. William Newkirk, according to her FB page. Congrats to the happy couple!!
  25. Congrats are in order for Susan Diol, who played Emmy Borden in the early 90s (she was mainly used as a spoiler in the Bo/Carly romance). She tied the knot over the weekend with a certain Mr. William Newkirk, according to her FB page. Congrats to the happy couple!!
