Thanks! Ironic that an actress endorsing Palmolive would be airing on a soap aired by P&G. LOL Was this before The Doctors debuted?

I agree. I would have taken Kentucky over Lloyd (all three of them) and Hogan anytime. He seemed like a character who would be great with kids, so it would have been great to see him with TR and Tourneur. Plus, he was so different from the two great loves of her life, Steve and Travis, yet he had his own unique charm. Does anyone know what the last airdate was of Rod Arrants and the first of Will Patton's?

Unsung
Hard to believe the summer season is already winding down. Then, I suppose, it will be time for the second season of Unsung: Hollywood. Anyway, here are the three remaining episodes on the schedule: 9/17: The Chi-Lites 9/24: Peaches & Herb 10/1: Rick James (I don't see how he qualifies as "unsung", but whatever.)

Maree Cheatham has stated both in interviews and on FB that it was her choice to leave SFT. She was getting bored and wanted new challenges. Yes, Sherry was one of a kind!! I remember seeing her in those on-location clips with Jerry Lanning (which have since been taken off YT, boo hiss) and he really was a convincing bad guy. I can see why, in his words, "she got cheers and I got sneers"!!

I remember hearing about the character of Marge, but that was a bit before my time. I'll have to look up some old commercials on YT.

You're all welcome! I thought that it would be a nice way to pay tribute to our final two Lizas. I was FB friends with Louan and she was an absolute sweetheart. She played Mrs. Belding on Saved By the Bell (who went into labor and gave birth in a stalled elevator during an earthquake - how very soapy) and the stepmother of Jerry's girlfriend (played by a pre-Gilmore Girls Lauren Graham) on Seinfeld, who put him on her speed dial. "Hello, Jerome." LOL I thought it was a nice touch that Jerry Lanning was interviewed for the article about Sherry. Even though their marriage didn't last, it appears their love and mutual respect did.

I want to thank Carl for posting the Sherry article, as well as the Marcia McCabe screen capture and my letter and autographed index card from Louan Gideon. I know that many people on this board are fans of Sherry, so I figured the timing was perfect for the article to be posted. Then I realized I had forgotten to send Carl the first page of the article!!! I just emailed it to him, so I'm sure he'll have it posted here in short order. Watching these recently posted episodes, I find myself skipping over much of the Cagney/Suzi/Warren/Justine/Brett melodrama, as well as the Chase/Adair scenes (though I have enjoyed the father/son scenes with Lloyd and Chase). But I am loving the Liza/Kentucky "partnership", and seeing Jo, Stu, Sunny and Stephanie. Speaking of which, you'll notice in the closing credits that one of the writers at this time was Roger Crews, who was (and still is) the real-life husband of Louise Shaffer. They've been going strong since 1980. :-D

Ah, the days before cell phones, where people had to rush to find a pay phone.

Hey, I just noticed that there is a listing on eBay for the John Gabriel & Friends LP from 1979 that Sherry Mathis took part in. John Gabriel, who was starring on RH as Dr. Seneca Beaulac at the time, sings most of the songs on the record, but Sherry, Francesca James (AMC), Kelly Wood (ATWT) and Michael Ingram (OLTL) each have one number. There are several pictures of the album cover and the album itself on eBay, and the back cover lists a short bio for each star who participated. Here's the one for Sherry: "Sherry Mathis (Liza Kaslo on SEARCH FOR TOMORROW) is from Memphis, Tennessee, and has been singing in musicals for years. She played Guinevere in Camelot opposite handsome Jerry Lanning - and recently married him. So many fans have loved her singing "THERE WILL BE SWEETER DAYS" on SEARCH that she's done it for this album." Fun fact: The album was produced and distributed by Archie Bleyer and Cadence Records, who were responsible for many of the Everly Brothers' hits. I wish that some big cheese would put this on iTunes!!!

Thanks!! I always refer to him as the scary, angry Pat. LOL The John Gabriel & Friends LP is listed on eBay, with a complete track listing. Of course "Jillian's Theme" aka "Hello Again" is there, as is a song he co-wrote for his real-life wife, Sandy Gabriel. Another song he covers is one EVERYONE loves - Morris Albert's "Feelings". AAAAH!! The "friends" of the title are Sherry Mathis (Liza Sentell) of SFT, who sings "There Will Be Sweeter Days", Kelly Wood (Mary Ellison, ATWT) who performs "You Needed Me", Francesca James (Kelly Cole, AMC) with her rendition of "You Light Up My Life", and Michael Ingram (Vinnie Wolek, OLTL) who covers one of The Carpenters' biggest hits, "For All We Know". Has anyone ever listened to this album back in the day? Would anyone here bid for it on eBay?

Not to mention that Paul Avila Mayer, who along with Claire Labine, created, headwrote and exec-produced RH, later was co-writer of SFT, but I don't know if any of the RH players mentioned here were still on the show by the time he came aboard. Does anyone know?

I know - Liza had the worst in-laws, didn't she? I think the only ones who liked her were Martin and another of Travis' cousins, Lee Sentell (who was once engaged to Sunny).

Liza's late husband, Travis, was Cord's cousin.

Yeah, it's not like Liza couldn't afford a car phone!! LOL

If ever a scene shows how harder things were in a pre-mobile world, it's the one where Liza's car breaks down. No cell phone, and save for her little flashlight, it's dark and who knows if there is a pay phone anywhere? I love watching these shows where characters have to rush to find payphones in the pre-cell phone era.
