  1. Yes, and Doris Belack ended up going from OLTL to TD!!!
  2. Thanks! Was she ever on any soaps besides GL?
  3. Wasn't one of the actresses Bruce Springsteen's wife before he went after Patti Scialfa?
  4. Mary Joan Negro now teaches acting at USC. Here's more info: http://dramaticarts.usc.edu/mary-joan-negro/
  5. Really? I thought she was with Robert S. Woods IRL.
  6. Thankfully, Maggie said the words to Matt we have all been longing to hear. On the other hand, he still doesn't get it. *shakes head* But Karen knows that now Althea is on to her. Karen the Kooky Kraut may be a lot of things, but stupid she is not. My favorite moment from today's episodes? Dr. John Rice, the shy "little boy doctor", finally gets a kiss. What a sweet moment that was.
  7. Yes, she was. As the show's longest-running cast member and mother figure, Ann Flood carved out a niche all her own on in the annals of daytime drama. It's a shame she never found another long-running gig on another soap (though she did play against type as a villainess in the last few weeks of SFT in 1986), though I believe she chose to eventually retire from show biz.
  8. OK, halfway decent stories. LOL Mostly it was the cast who made it work.
  9. Thank you for your insights, Carl. Kristen Vigard just had a verve and a sparkle that made it believable that both a peer (Kevin Bacon's TJ) and an older man (John Wesley Shipp's Kelly) would be so taken with her.
  10. Isn't that Rod Arrants with Beth Maitland in the first photo? Love it!!
  11. Yup, and she hasn't aged much from her SB days!!!
  12. When Ron and Frank were still doing decent stories!!!
  13. That's about all one can do!!
  14. God bless her!!! Many happy returns to Ms. Flood.
  15. Mary Joan Negro was in several L&O episodes in its early years. She was a dynamo.
  16. Thank you for all that info!! I appreciate it.
  17. I never knew she had appeared on that show. Thanks!!
  18. Do you think the story involving Morgan in 1982 would have worked had Kristen Vigard still been in the role, or was the story itself so bad that no one could have saved it?
  19. Both episodes were terrific, with major events happening. The part I really lost it at was Mr. Bunker towards the end of the second episode. What Matt said to John after leaving Mr. Bunker's room really said it all.
  20. I have to say I think Nikki's wedding gown from 1984 is one of the prettiest I've ever seen in a soap.
  21. Here's an anecdote from the 1984 book Inside the Soaps, by Paul Denis: In 1983, the actors and crew of Y&R decided to discourage swearing in the studio, so they fined each swearer 25 cents per profanity. After three months, $500 was amassed and a Foul Mouth award went to Eric Braeden, who had cussed $50 worth. Steven Ford, who hadn't been caught swearing once, got the Clean Mouth award.
  22. Thank you!!! Yes, I remember reading that Joe Riley brought Clint to Llanview to run the paper after his passing, and wanted him to marry his soon-to-be widow, Viki - and that at their first meeting, neither Viki nor Clint were impressed with each other.
  23. I couldn't find much info on Kathleen Murray, so I have no way of knowing if she was already ill when she filled in on TD. I am already familiar with the story of Kitty Foyle, having watched the 1940 movie that starred Ginger Rogers in the title role (and won her an Oscar). Also, I missed Bethel Leslie in the second episode. Your assessment of her portrayal of Maggie is right on the money. But I am eager to see Lydia Bruce as well.
  24. Good for her - that's great news.
