  1. Today I had an AW through the mail autograph success from the wonderful Beverly Penberthy. Not only did she sign the photo I sent, but she sent along two more (also signed) and wrote a lovely note to me in a blank card. I'll send the images off to one of my friends here so everyone can see them.
  2. Didn't they take LK off contract at one point?
  3. I didn't even know he was on OLTL. I guess you really do learn something new every day!!!
  4. I found a 1972 cast photo, after TD won its first Emmy (EP Allen Potter is holding the Emmy in the photo) and emailed it to Susan Bedsow-Horgan (wife of Patrick Horgan, who played TD's villain du jour of the early 70s, Dr. John Morrison). She wrote back saying: "Thanks for the photo - those were very happy times for Patrick. And even though everyone thought Dr. Morrison was a villain, he always played him as wounded. Maybe that's why he was so effective. And he never got one piece of hate mail. By the way, standing next to Patrick is Allen Potter who was the EP. I worked for him as EP on Guiding Light when it went to the hour in 1977. Patrick got me the interview for the job. And Patrick sailed his brand new boat through the Cape Cod canal but it crashed. They weren't hurt." As many of you know, Susie was the EP of OLTL from 1994-1996 (and co-wrote the short-lived Prospect Park revival) and was interviewed in the 2013 book Llanview in the Afternoon by Jeff Giles. She doesn't name the soap, but it has to be TD, given that Joseph Stuart took over the reins of TD after Allen Potter left in 1973. Patrick Horgan was on TD from 1970-74. Susan Bedsow Horgan: Joe [stuart] was a network guy, and boy, was he not liked. He did something very unethical to my husband, preventing him from taking another job and then firing him right after so he was completely out of work. I had the feeling that he was very tyrannical. This certainly fits in with some of the stories saynotoursoap has said. On another note, Carl, have you found the disc yet with Liz Hubbard's Brim commercial?
  5. Exactly. Whatever happened to Patricia Hodges?
  6. Wow, I can't even see that - maybe because Jean Leclerc is so identifiable in the role.
  7. Wasn't Patricia Hodges let go and her character killed off (along with Petronia Paley's Quinn) in 1987?
  8. Thanks. From what I've read, JP continued to act for many years after TD - but primarily on stage.
  9. From what I read, my home market of Cleveland didn't even air EON at all in its last years on ABC. Akron did, though.
  10. Maybe not, but did we ever see RR clean-shaven? For some reason, the celebrity that Terry Lester most resembled (at least to me) was John Tesh.
  11. At least she hasn't gone the plastic surgery/Botox route. She looks very natural and very beautiful.
  12. I know what you mean. I hated when they broke up Luis and Sheridan for good and put them with other people at the end of the show (and McKenzie Westmore did, too, when someone asked her about it on Twitter). I wasn't even watching when the Vincent story and Julian's, ahem, was cut off and reattached upside down or whatever it was - the show was no longer on NBC then and was on DirecTV, which I didn't have. I did however subscribe to SOD and read all about it - and even READING it gave me the willies. Interestingly, several years after the show ceased production for good, Tracey Ross (Eve) friended me on FB and I asked her how she felt playing that story. She said it made her VERY uncomfortable but she tried to do the best she could with it. On the upside, she enjoyed the scenes where she got to sing - but said that it is her son Bryce who really has the pipes in the family. She is a sweetheart.
  13. I remember a 1997 SOD interview with Laura Wright (I believe right after she joined GL) where she said the show's producers would come to her when they wanted to show flashbacks. She had a photographic memory with dates, so they would go to her to ask when such-and-such episode aired so they could find the tape!!!
  14. I read that James Pritchett, best known for his role as Dr. Matt Powers on The Doctors, had a short-term role on AMC in 1989 as a character named Bill Anderson. I've looked on YT to try to find him but to no avail so far. Who was the character and what was his arc? Who did he interact with?
  15. I just heard the news. God rest her.
  16. Yeah. Have you ever read Kim Zimmer's bio? She goes into quite a bit of her TD days in there, and when they worked on Body Heat together, she thanked Kathleen Turner for leaving the role of Nola for her to take over.
  17. Thank you, Carl - I look forward to seeing that commercial again. It also gave me a chuckle because Althea was known for making terrible coffee. LOL
  18. Great article, thanks for sharing.
  19. He really did a great job with those clips. I love it when actors save the tapes and then upload them (or when their children do, such as the case of Ann Williams).
  20. Good news - my friend is uploading all the EON episodes he has from 1982 to 1984, and he has a boatload of them. PM me if you want the link to his channel (you can never be too careful).
  21. P.S. Maureen Mooney (Anne Jeffers) of GL was also in that commercial with La Liz, if that helps any.
  22. Did any other contestants from the "Soap Star" show get contract roles, or were they merely extras and under-fives?
  23. Question: Is anyone able to find Liz Hubbard's Brim coffee commercial circa 1981? Carl posted an AMC episode that had that commercial in it (on page 90 of this thread) but it has since been taken off YT, dagnabit!!! I'd love to see it again if anyone can find it - I've tried and so far have come up empty. Thanks!!
  24. Thanks for the thoughtful answers, everyone. Slesar/Nicholson had to be the longest-running HW/EP team in soap history, right? They had several years on AW's Lemay/Rauch.
