Guiding Light Discussion Thread
Maybe it's a Southern thing. My pastor was born and raised in the Houston, TX, area. His first and middle names are Jimmy Kay. Not James - his legal first name is Jimmy. Despite living and working here in northeast Ohio for over 20 years, he still has his Texas accent. So, I guess I can understand "Harlan Billy".

Lauren White, who has just shown up in the Retro TV reruns of The Doctors, is now a jazz singer. Her husband is Alex Gansa, a writer/producer who is probably best known for creating Homeland. Here is Lauren singing:

Today, the debut episode of Nurse Mary Jane "MJ" Match aired. The role was originated by Lauren White, who stayed on the show until 1978. After she left, MJ was played by Carla Dragoni, Kathy Glass and Amy Ingersoll until the role was phased out in early 1982. Lauren White is now a jazz singer. She is married to writer/producer Alex Gansa, who is probably best known for creating Homeland.

Your daily (or nightly) thought
There have been a couple of biographies written about him, but they're nothing special. I'd love to see a definite and GOOD documentary and book created about him.

Cliff is never seen but sometimes is referred to. Steve and Ann still have their private offices but they are hardly ever there. He seems to be at the hospital more often than not delivering babies, and she's there either pulling clinic duty or consulting on other cases. I have no idea what the point is of keeping them in private practice. I don't think it lasts, because what little I've seen of the later episodes has him in his own office in the hospital. That happens sometime between 1975 and 1978.

Then they went to Dynasty, where there were endless crazy characters. That show was right in their wheelhouse.

The Pollocks were good at creating characters, but not at making them multifaceted. The endless flashbacks and fantasy sequences didn't help.

No, but I don't think Andy is worth it. 😂Later in 1975, Penny and Stacy will vie for the affections of another guy who is not yet on the canvas but will be soon.

Speaking of Robert Cenedella, here's a tribute written by one of his children. He was still writing until the day he died...at age 90!! God bless him. https://ambulancebrother.wordpress.com/2010/10/08/a-writers-life-for-my-father/

That's a good question. There are a couple of spring 1976 episodes available for screening in the Paley Center. The writers credited were DePriest/Bertram.

Cenedella is already listed in the credits under the Pollocks. We've just entered July 1975 on Retro TV, so I'm guessing they were going on the last of the Pollocks' story projections (other writers that have gotten credited along with the Pollocks are Deborah Sherwood and Lanie Bertram).
