  1. Mel Winkler (Dr. Simon Harris, 1969-1970) has just passed on: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/mel-winkler-actor-devil-a-blue-dress-doc-hollywood-dies-at-78-1298033
  2. He's probably hiding in the same bunker Trump is.
  3. @Khan, you and I are the same age. I do not consider myself either a Democrat or Republican, because I don't trust politicians no matter what side of the aisle they're on. Still, the President SHOULD be a uniter - especially at a time like this. I remember how Ronald Reagan did his best to comfort the nation after the Challenger disaster when I was a kid. Yes, it was a different time under very different circumstances - but he didn't yell, call people stupid, etc. This is truly a case of choosing the lesser of two evils (or weasels, as Jay Leno once put it). Great post.
  4. I believe Millee Taggart did join SFT's writing staff at some point in the 1980s.
  5. Pam Long when she was Miss Alabama 1974:
  6. Thanks for sharing the tweets. Patrick Mulcahey really is one of the most underrated writers of the genre.
  7. I agree to a point. It seemed like Rae Woodard had indeed stepped into Henderson, but LS was blessed with much better writing on RH.
  8. Those videos are so great!! Thanks for posting them!! ❤
  9. Mark Kearney passed in 1993 at age 36. Michael is still with us as of this writing, and is also active on FB. Fun fact - the Kearney siblings were the first cousins of the late John Spencer of L.A. Law and The West Wing. Their mothers were sisters. Michael Kearney and Donnie Melvin were two of the child actors who played Petey Dunbar on TSS.
  10. Thanks to Retro TV, new generations of viewers have been introduced to 12 years' worth of talented juvenile performers on The Doctors. Jami Fields (Penny Davis), Eileen Kearney and Jennifer Houlton (Greta Powers, 1970-71 and 1971-1980, respectively), Mark Kearney, Bobby Hennessey and David Elliott (Billy Allison, 1970-71, 1971-72 and 1972-77, respectively), Keith Blanchard and Thor Fields (Erich Aldrich, 1973-77 and 1977-1980, respectively), to name a few, really held their own opposite the seasoned adult actors. It's been a real treat watching their work.
  11. Poor Judi Evans has suffered more tragedy in the past 6 or so months than she ever had to play on any of her soaps. Here's the latest: https://people.com/tv/days-of-our-lives-star-judi-evans-diagnosed-coronavirus/

  13. I assume that's when Vicky Dawson was brought in as Dee, after RE declined their offer. How was Franc Luz on RH? I've enjoyed his work on TD in the Retro TV reruns, as well as in various primetime episodics and films.
  14. Ditto. Both in looks and attitude, he reminds me of a boy I knew in high school - and not in a good way. 😬
  15. I was watching some random soap episodes on YouTube the other day when I spotted Philip English (Dr. Colin Wakefield) in a 1981 episode of EDGE:
  16. For sure. Other than Michele Val Jean, were there any African American writers on this show?
  17. Agreed. The Doctors did the same thing. 😠
  18. Yes, those curls were natural. Even today, his hair is pretty wavy, given the recent headshots of him I found online. Getting back to SFT, does anyone know why David Forsyth left for a few months in 1984? Supposedly, auditions were held to recast Hogan (Lane Davies and David Haskell were among the actors up for the part) but Forsyth eventually decided to return to the show.
  19. Wasn't JFP at the helm then? If so, it explains a lot. 😜
  20. Let's not forget Philip English (Dr. Colin Wakefield, TD), who also began his soap role in 1978. However, he predated Arrants, Geary AND Chris Rich (Sandy, AW) - his first airdate on TD was in January.
  21. I've been rewatching some of the episodes, and I have a few questions: - Who played "Sam Ratcliffe" (named after a soap writer) in the finale? It's obviously not Rod Arrants, despite the guy supposedly looking like Travis. - Why did Sunny use the last name McClure when she first came to town? - What was the name of the local pub/hangout that looked like a ripoff, ahem, duplicate of Ryan's Bar, right down to the bartender? If the name was mentioned, I obviously missed it. - What was the story behind TR being separated from her birth family, years before she went to live with Liza and Travis? Thanks! Someone upthread was curious to know about how Mary Stuart's castmates felt about her. This article from 2013 gives a few answers: https://www.welovesoaps.net/2013/07/mary-stuart-birthday.html?m=1
  22. All love and prayers to Marnie...🙏❤
