YR: Tracey Bregman 40th Anniversary
I haven't watched yet, but that sounds promising. Perhaps not having a personal history with her as he does with the P&G soaps actually helped in that he prepared better.

Honestly, as long as they don't do the shaky cam stuff, I've been thinking it's bad enough now to lean into the Peapack model. Film at a real courthouse on the weekend instead of making a set, a real park instead of Chancellor park....

I thought they would just omit the Jill retcon like they omitted Dylan from Nikki's special. I guess they didn't do that because she's still on the show (same reason for Paul vs Brad since they pretend Paul is still on the show). Two scenes was too much for Jill, but the first one was a painful explanatory scene so guess they wanted to put in the more memorable one from when Lauren and Michael walked in on her and Colin (in fact, the ONLY memorable Jill/Lauren scene). When Gloria said she probably wouldn't have gotten along with Mary... I'm like right bitch you could never hold a candle to her. 🤣 As stupid as it is that Lauren doesn't know about Sheila, it would be great if she and Michael got invited to some fashion gala in LA (of course they would have to do it on B&B to have any chance of it actually occuring onscreen) and Sheila and Bill were there. When Phyllis popped up I was afraid they would get into Pheila and Sarah Smythe (shudder) but the scene they picked was actually very sweet. Those clips where Lauren was pregnant are the prettiest she looked in all her years on the show IMO.

Everyone looks great. Beautiful dresses. Much better than they look on the show.

That's hilarious! The real flex will be if the show brings back April before Paul to re-integrate Heather.

Thanks... wow there is a LOT happening here, haha! Danny and Lauren are singing "Against all odds" and they don't sound as bad as they usually do. This is based on the Phil Collins song of the same name, specifically created for the Jeff Bridges movie of the same name. I haven't seen the movie but it does involve gambling/casinos, so maybe that's why their vid had that going on as well. Danny reflected in Lauren's sunglasses was 80s iconic! I appreciated the diversity of the dancers. This clip must be July '84 b/c Patty looks super-pissed, so this must be right after she found out about Danny and Traci's marriage. Ken the manager is living his best life and is not "reading the room" at all that some people in the room don't seem so happy. Yeah, she doesn't sound too bad here and in that other clip. They did right by her. It could have been a lot worse. I was wondering why there was a casino! At first, I thought they were trying to segue to Michael and Lauren's engagement clip. So glad they showed the entire video. Was that Nathan dancing (standing) with Amy?

The Joanna clip is probably from around the time of this recap, but I don't think it's covered in any available episodes or clips. Recaps also say that Joanna hadn't seen Lauren in 7 years, that she saw Lauren's photo in a rock magazine, and Lauren was shocked when she spotted Joanna in the audience at her concert. She also learned that Joanna had gone on to have another daughter who died young. FEBRUARY 11, 1985 - FEBRUARY 17, 1985 The Young and the Restless:Lauren told Paul that she once overheard Joanna voice a wish that Lauren had never been born.

I would have liked to have seen her first scene, the bitchy look that she gave Traci that made Bell turn her into a mean girl, and her wedding to Paul (there's only an extremely short clip in the German episodes), but all in all I thought they did a pretty good job picking clips. I was glad they didn't include Sheila's 2005 stint or too much recent stuff. I was also surprised they didn't show Brad. I wonder if the scenes with Joanna were her Emmy sumbission when she won.

It's funny but when Nick asked Sally if she wasn't really sick but having morning sickness, he actually came off more like a concerned dad than her lover. That or just pretend it never happened like with Adam. I don't see why they couldn't have done a scene in the weeks preceding the episode where Michael and Lauren had brunch at Society and filled in Gloria and Kevin about Fen's coming out and then pretending that he texted them pictures etc.

They could call the podcast "the egg drop." 🤮

YR: Tracey Bregman 40th Anniversary
LOL, that is so tacky that they didn't show it. So they could have just done an episode where Fen wants to introduce his boyfriend so they go out to dinner, like with Allie and the Traci/Ashley episode. No need for them to make a fake awards ceremony. 😂 I guess they blew the budget for the month, because Fen's boyfriend has more than 5 lines.

YR: Tracey Bregman 40th Anniversary
I'm not going to spoil myself on what clips they show, but curious... do they even show the award ceremony? Or is the whole episode just them sitting in the lobby and Lauren telling her story to Fen's boyfriend?

Y&R 50th Anniversary - your ideas...
Traci's Abbott family book was used as the backdrop for Peter Bergman's 30th anniversary special. I found that a bit disrespectful to the other Abbotts, especially since he's not even the original actor. There's a good chance of getting back some of the Glow by Jabot kids - Brittany, Raul, J.T., and Mac (probably Kelly Krueger though, meh). I'd rather see individual visits where we can get a few days of scenes like Michael Damian's, than cameo appearances like Leslie and Lorie have made.

Underused/Misused Charachters
There's many more nepo babies on Y&R than that: Lauralee Bell Both of Kay Alden's kids (Conci had two roles, Betsy and Heather) Marissa Barton (did not know her history, thanks @Broderick) Laura Bryan Birn

There's a short clip in the vault from 1981 where Jill tells Phillip that he will eventually move into a great big house with a pool, if he'll just give her some time, and then she'll pick him up [from boarding school] and they'll live hapilly together forever. He asks her if this is about the man from the other night (at 7 years old, already on to her BS), if she's going to marry him, and then send him away forever. Jill says "does that mean you'll go?" (what a bitch!) and he says "I can't wait to leave." When Thom Bierdz starts in 1986, and Liz tells him Jill was shot, he asks if it was one of her lovers, so he's definitely well aware of his mom's tricks. There's also a scene of little Phillip at Christmas 1983 or 1984 telling Jill thanks but no thanks to a visit, he's going to a friend's.

YR Promo: 40 years of Tracey Bregman
I hope the clips are long. The scenes on BE and ED's episode were super short!
