  1. ODAAT is hilarious and full of heart. I love the topics they tackle.

I went to a Friday taping last year and it was a lot of fun, but it was Friday so it was more fluffy than usual. I'm anxious to do it again when Whoopi is there and they're not talking about fluff topics. Have fun!! And can Meghan grow up please? Lawd. All she does is act offended and throw a tantrum when people disagree. I do sometimes think they take her talking about things as her opinion when she's just explaining things, but man she's so wound up. You can always tell when she's pressed or not when they walk out. Some days I can tolerate and almost like her but then she falls back into the martyr/victim routine and shouts and pouts. I loved Madam Secretary Albright shutting her down when Meghan tried to have her 'aha, gotcha' with the 'women not supporting women' thing. Meghan, have a [!@#$%^&*] seat. I saw 'The View' was trending today so I went and read some of the tweets and most of them are coming for Meghan (and a lot has nothing to do with her political stance/opinion). It's a pretty fun read.
  3. Tonight's episode was far better than last weeks. I laughed a lot. I kind of LOL that they give adult DJ a line or two like they use to give kid DJ. I liked it was Becky centric. Lecy was good. I liked the Becky/Darlene scenes. Becky was always a character who wanted more for herself so I liked how Darlene basically pointed out that Becky has been trying to be the same person since Mark died. Or something to that effect. It made sense. I liked a lot of it. I always thought it was obvious how different they viewed the Becky's when Lecy came back in Season 8 they had Becky questioning her marriage and wanting to go back to school, to college, that is. Lecy was on GMA this week and talked about Darlene and Becky's relationship and how they start to realize they need each other as friends and sisters. She explained it well and I hope we get lots more of what we saw tonight. It's awkward but you know they love each other. Deep down. Waaaay far deep down. I'm definitely interested in seeing their relationship develop as 40-something adults at a crossroads in their lives. They keep talking about how Jackie is alone. A lot of it was funny but I wish Andy were talked about. It's weird that they're treating it as if he's erased from the history (and maybe he is?). It just feels weird to me. It was a good episode, at least compared to last week. I think the first two episodes remain the most solid so far. Last week's wasn't the best but I get what they were trying to do, and it would have made more sense as Episode 2, but I also get why they held it off and used Episode 3 as Episode 2. Armani the dog Lots of good one liners. Roseanne and Becky had a nice moment at the end. I liked Dan demanding Roseanne stay out of it (and she did!). For whatever reason I can't say it was "great" (though it was often quite funny) but I enjoyed it.
  4. Apparently a writer on Bob's Burgers took issue with the joke Roseanne and Dan made, that I actually totally missed, about falling asleep between 'Wheel and Kimmel' and made mention of missing the shows featuring Black and Asian families. Roseanne said "they're just like us. There you're caught up". I mean, I can understand his annoyance but I think he's reading too much into and trying to make a mountain out of a molehill. Everyone finds issue with SOMETHING these days. I mean, if you try hard enough, you can pick apart anything and everything. I don't know. It just seems so easy to get outraged at things anymore. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/roseanne-criticized-black-ish-fresh-boat-joke-1100311?utm_source=twitter Ames and Emma fit right in. Great casting.
  5. Yeah, in the context, it worked better than Roseanne calling Harris a bitch.
  6. One of my favorite exchanges, I have to admit. LOL
  7. True. That's why it wasn't such a shock to me. However, in the context of their relationship (or lack thereof) and for the scene it kind of felt like it was done for a bit of shock value (like it was a catfight done for the sake of being a catfight). But Roseanne, the character (and I guess IRL), has often handled things in a crass and distasteful manner in a way to get the point across (which is more real to me, we don't always say the right things in the moment but it gets the point across), so I wasn't that put off. But I was sort of put off how it was used this time. Oh well.
  8. Ah! Makes sense. I was wondering about that, because I noticed Roseanne's chair lift was in the 2nd episode but the plotline for it came in last night's episode. I can see why the switched the 2nd and 3rd episodes though. I agree it was distasteful. It didn't seem like it was needed, really, because the water spray scene did enough.
  9. I agree. It wasn't the strongest episode. The tension should have been building between Harris and Roseanne, not rising and building and peaking in the same episode (Harris has had one or two one-liners in the first two episodes). Some of it was good. Jackie and Becky had a few lines each so kind of a waste of them there. No DJ (I think Michael Fishman said Episode 5 is when we learn more about DJ, but that episode is currently titled "Darlene v David" so I don't know how much airtime he'll get and maybe he mispoke about which episode it will be). It was OK. Not the best so far. I just think they tried to do too much in one episode, but I get they only had 9 episodes. I can kind of agree on the mean-spiritedness, but Harris was indeed being a bitch and showed a shocking lack of respect. She needed a smack so the water thing worked great for me. Roseanne's always crass though. But the tension was out of nowhere and simply for the plot of the episode, which is fine I suppose. It is a sitcom after all. There was no way the show was getting nearly 20 million viewers again this week. But it still did well. Let's see how much it keeps dropping. It was bound to drop, that's just a reality. Will & Grace premiered nicely (though not nearly as great) and it's now just barely a step above the other niche sitcoms NBC seems determined to stick with. Though the two are very different, just saying that the audience will drop, it shouldn't be a surprise. And I think with Will and Grace they're already falling back into the habits of the older seasons, relying on "LOOK IT'S ALEC BALDWIN!" "LOOK IT'S JENNIFER LOPEZ!!!" I mean, the cartoon is back (Malcolm hiding himself in front of the drapes wearing pajamas that look like the drapes? I mean, COME ON, lol) and I'm disappointed.
  10. lol, it is a bit bizarre. But the media will find something new next week lol. I'm sure the current White House resident will tweet something. Or fire somebody.
  11. I noticed they never referred to either Trump or Clinton by name. I understand why people had the initial fears they did, I shared some of them, but watching the show put me at ease. It's a shame to see what both sides of the aisle are trying to paint this as. Roseanne's tweets sure don't help her cause though. But they signed her up. So they know what they were getting into. Many can look past it and still enjoy the show but I understand why some aren't able to. I don't subscribe to the idea that famous people should keep their yaps shut but I do sort of miss the days of not knowing which way someone leaned.
  12. truth I'm SHOCKED YAY!
  13. I assumed it's Roseanne because of the knee thing. But it could be DJ too. Becky's a bit full with the baby story but I guess they could. Or they say Mark Sr. died from an overdose.
  14. I don't know. I never say never anymore, I would have a couple of years ago. Jerry and Larry are very coy people. But I agree it's not very likely. But I don't think anything would surprise me at this point. Who'd have thought Murphy Brown would be rebooted?
  15. Personally it would have to be a hard no towards a FRIENDS revival for me. The show got on my nerves. But I also enjoyed some of it. But I don't see a need for a revival. I would of said the same about Murphy too yet here we are. So who knows?
  16. Yep. And it's amazing to read people still think there's some political agenda behind it all (I shared my worry before finally realizing it wouldn't be Roseanne shouting about Trump for 9 episodes). It felt natural with Jackie and Roseanne at odds over the election and I thought they handled it very well. If those awful people who like to comment on articles and on Twitter actually watched the episodes they wouldn't be beating the same drum and writing it off as trying to normalize Trump, etc. I get so fired up reading stupid comments on Twitter and blog articles. I usually don't for that reason, people sound so insane sometimes .... I'm very torn on Roseanne as a person but the quality is there in the show and I think deep down she knows Trump is a hot mess, to say the least, but I think she also likes to push people's buttons. I do believe she supports him, I don't think it's an act. I think she ultimately, deep down, means well as a human being. But she says a lot of whacko stuff .... but to be fair, ABC knew what they were signing up for by hiring her. Believe it or not, Roseanne has mellowed but man she goes to extremes sometimes.
  17. Completely agreed. But who knows? lol. I posed the question because I didn't see it doing nearly as well. I even question if it will do as well as Will and Grace. Murphy has NEVER done well in syndication. Networks have tried and failed. W&G struggled a bit in syndication though, Roseanne is far more broad reaching than W&G and MB too. There's definitely a hunger being untapped. I agree it doesn't seem to fit at all into CBS at the moment. Especially with it so laden with male driven shows. Meanwhile, all these talks of reboots and people (by people I mean the media and bloggers) aren't bringing up Family Matters ... they're all willing and able. I'm surprised FOX isn't all over Queen Latifah (she can do both Star and Living Single) and Martin for reboots of Living Single and Martin. And Married with Children. FOX could use a reboot in the sitcom department, all of their niche shows will never reach the audience they want them to. Modern Family's not lasting much longer and Superior Donuts will be lucky to get another season ... Home Improvement too, unless Tim's still rightfully pissed at ABC for cancelling Last Man Standing (which was a massive mistake and for me had nothing to do with politics, it was Channing trying to pacify Disney by keeping OUAT and Shield around and Friday was the best spot) You just know NBC wished Seinfeld's cast would reunite. No one should expect FRIENDS. The cast is still desperate to break free from it. I don't see the big deal in "going back" but I don't think it's time for either of them, TBH. I think both could be relevant though. Not that I'm necessarily dying for either of them. I don't think FRIENDS has been off long enough yet. Seinfeld is reaching that 20 year mark (since the shows went off the air) that Roseanne, Murphy and others have reached ....
  18. True. Look how far Will and Grace sunk. It's slightly better than the rest of the lineup now. But it's already renewed for two seasons lol. I don't think ABC's gonna give up Roseanne. It has a broader appeal than Will & Grace, so at, the "very worst" (which isn't bad by today's standards) I imagine it would likely get a bit above what Goldbergs, The Middle and Last Man Standing used to average. But I'd love to see it get consistently high ratings. In the 5.0's? Probably not gonna keep up but who knows? I wonder what Murphy Brown will pull?
  19. I'm so happy it rose in the second half hour. I don't think those are realistic for 7 more episodes but who knows? Will be interesting to see what happens.
  20. I'd agree with the comparison to Seasons 7-8.
  21. I'm pretty sure Becky finished high school too. That was an odd line I thought. I didn't find Jackie's Barney Fife impression as bad as it was towards the end of the show. But yeah a lot of it was there. I thought it was toned down some and some moments worked well. But I'll see how they handle it going forward. I don't want her to be a caricature like she became. I do like the gag of her life coach career. She's always amplified herself in her job and been over the top about it.
  22. O.M.G. YES! Perfect comparison! Ames is a great, great find. The actress playing Harris seems fine but hasn't had a lot to do yet, which is also fine. (I've not watched Shameless so I have no idea how she is but she seems perfectly cast and talented)
  23. yassssssss! SO HAPPY about the ratings! Also glad it grew in the second episode, I was hoping it didn't dip. Good news!
  24. +1 on Lecy's Becky. All true. I love her. You summed it up well. I don't think she'll be a gag (Sarah's Becky became the joke, when Lecy returned in Season 8 they had Becky unhappy living in a trailer and that she married too young and wanted more for her life, it was stark and obvious, but not that Lecy's Becky had a ton to do beyond that though, but the writing improved). She had some fun lines and was more prominent in the first two episodes than I expected. It was still Darlene/Roseanne centered but Becky had some good stuff. I hope it keeps up.
  25. And Fishman wasn't even in the second episode. LOL He was alright. I always preferred first Becky over Sarah. Sarah was AWFUL at first. LOL. She was NOT Becky. Lecy's Becky was always selfish. She jumped into things without thinking and was ridiculously stubborn. That hasn't changed. Sarah's Becky was a pathetic weak bimbo who stood there and took Darlene's crap and had no goals for her life. Sarah did great as Andrea though. I liked how 'proper' she was. "Jaqueline" lmao .... I thought they handled the maturity well with Darlene but still giving her the savage lines she used to dish out. Darlene being the responsible one shouldn't be a surprise, she was always the 'smartest' so to speak. I was worried most about her (Sara) but Darlene was still in there, so I was happy. I LOL'd at the gay daughter jokes. And that View interview was hella awkward, lol. It doesn't help Whoopi can't seem to see the teleprompter and most of the time doesn't care about it or laughs at the stupid questions she has to ask. I think she'd rather just talk to the guests than read a teleprompter. But it all came off as unprofessional. Usually I like the off-the-cuff awkward stuff but it came off bad. I bet nerves played a part (it was just a lot of nervous awkwardness). Probably wasn't sure how it would go because of Roseanne's hardcore Trump loving rhetoric. But I'm glad that wasn't really talked about, she doesn't need to be bombarded in interviews. Sara Gilbert looked pressed for a lot of it (again, it seemed like awkward nervousness between all of them) and didn't seem like she wanted to be there, JMO. Even though she handled the questions great. John just joked around. Roseanne always seems a bit drugged up now (which is expected, she has bad knee pain).
