  1. I am so in love being able to see so much of classic B&B It's so refreshing to see more than one storyline going on in an episode with numerous folks equally balanced, for the most part. Novel concept, eh Bradley Bell? Really wish he inherited his father's better traits.
  2. Reminds me of other posters who had strange devotions to people we all don't care for ... just sayin' ... though not nearly as bad ... lol I've read interviews. I've heard her take on things. Of course there's always numerous sides to a story. I often do give benefit of the doubt but she has never had my trust running a soap, sorry VanessaReardon 🤷‍♂️ you think she's great and that's fine. The rest of us don't. You talk about everyone having opinions and sometimes that's all it is. It's not that serious, really. You don't have to jump to her defense anytime someone has a criticism. Not being snarky: do you have her contact info? I would love nothing more than to talk to her. lol. I would love an honest to god interview with her about all of her decisions. You also have to know she's been in the business a very very long time and she knows how to spin things. She's not stupid. I just think she can be destructive. I mean, it's a pretty common opinion about her and other male executives. You enjoyed her I suppose. Not all of us did. She should have been in primetime, personally.
  3. I'll give them a pass since it's a Halloween episode. lol. Did you enjoy the "Everybody Loves Brian" mention ? lol! Premiere was fun. I missed this show and needed some happiness last night. It was great to have it back. The cast remains fabulous. They haven't missed a beat. The script was sharp and I couldn't stop laughing. I did enjoy the slight 'dig' at Netflix. I think a lot of folks opinion about Netflix has gone down. Not saying they still don't have some good/great shows on there but the momentum it once had seems to be ... anywho ... (I think Netflix needs to figure out what it wants to be again, personally and I say that as someone who was practically Netflix addicted for a few years, and way before they started creating original content) I miss the full opening theme song though but understandable it's cut for time of course. I feel like theme songs really make a show and it's been sad over the years to see just 30 second openings. Can't wait to see Marla Gibbs. Love seeing her get work and that she's still able to work. Love love love her. Random, but Betty White has kinda disappeared ... hope she's doing ok!
  4. She typically does raise the ratings. To be fair that also falls on the writers as well. Your devotion to her is ... interesting.
  5. All three have had their fair share of vitriol, at least on here so I don't think that's fair. In general? Overall? I guess I can agree with that. I think Jill's is often far more deserved, personally, and it's not because she's a woman, though some may; people seem to expect 'better' of women and hold them to a higher standard so she gets more vitriol maybe? I don't do that. Valentini didn't come in and kill Laura Spencer (though I've never been a fan and still think he needs to be fired; and he did fire her like twice and fired Kanan and Buchanan and is just as bad about hiring his 'friends' as Jill was). I'd call Valentini inept and stupid, not destructive but I guess he is, just in different ways. Jill was destructive. Personally I think too many give her a pass. Rauch and Conboy have a long history of alienating writers and female stars. I don't dislike them any more or any less than Jill. Rauch was trash and an awful fit for GL. He did just as much damage if not more 🤷‍♂️ in different ways. She started the destruction of GL, Rauch and Conboy came after her and kept twisting the knife and killing the show. Though I guess some could argue Kobe and Long might have. And even before them ...
  6. Yep! Wrecking Ball. SOOOOO accurate. LOL
  7. Jill Phelps takes well written shows with HEART and demolishes them. She gets a pass for big stunts and "production values" but the show looked great before her ass got there 🤷‍♂️
  8. Gonna just be nice and say ok. Thanks for the information. I can see why folks have issues with you 🤷‍♂️ it's not what you say, but how you say it. Again, thanks for clarifying I clearly believed what I thought so .... oh well. It happens. She was driven away by interference. I assumed it was Jill. Show me the receipts it wasn't.
  9. Why do the UK soaps seem to make all the kids crazy weird killers? Or emotionally distant. I get that it's "interesting" but it's always felt so lazy to me. (To be fair, a lot of them should be screwed up, and a lot of the US soap kids should be in constant therapy, so I get it, but ....) Ben can do all of these horrible things yet Denny had to go? Lord make it make sense. Aww and June Brown left? Was she somehow driven off? I was always expecting to hear her say she was leaving but that seemed abrupt. I do apologize as I don't closely follow the UK soap news. I try but can't see or read everything.
  10. I'm guessing Rauch wanted Zimmer/Reva to be the Lucci/Erica of GL. Sex Goddess all the men fall for her. Not even close! lol. It never worked. Early flavor Reva is SOOOO different and such a better character than Reva was in her return. I love Josh and Reva but I always found them to be a toxic couple, lol. Even early flavor but there was just so many layers and better writing and acting. It worked. It didn't work when they randomly had Josh screaming at Reva and hating her. All of that was JFP. It's so devastating to watch such a smart, sexy, well written show turn into ... a Phelps show. Phelps is so lucky she had Curlee for a bit but she clearly drove her away. I can't say I blame Curlee. It all fell apart though. I can't even say Jill made the show any better looking because I thought it looked fine. They really fucked up the show's momentum. It never recovered IMO. I can kinda understand why, in 1991, they'd hire Jill Phelps, but ... I do think P&G soaps were probably dead after Edward Trach was gone. Not sure why CBS/P&G ever wanted to replicate the ABC and NBC soaps. Sad how all three networks had such unique soaps that stood on their own only to get muddled in the 00s and become the same as each other.
  11. Wow! How on earth did I never know that. Makes so much sense.
  12. Awesome! Thank you for that tidbit!
  13. FINALLY! Yay! LOL
  14. Yep. I've never gotten over it. Just awful and unnecessary. And remember the outcry was so fierce that they brought him back as a ghost to haunt Tracy? Lord .... Lord. Too much Natalia Livingston.
  15. Yay! This is so exciting. EDIT: Other soap folks take notice: WE WILL PAY. I signed up immediately. Find a way to get your soap libraries online and streaming. It's great! This is exactly what all of us have wanted for the soaps for so long. I'm so glad Retro is doing this. 2.99 is indeed very reasonable and with a large selection of episodes and special features/interviews, etc. it makes it very worth it. They also give a yearly option of 30.99.
  16. The promos are nice. That's about all I got. Agreed it was a mistake to kill off Pat, Peggy and Pauline. But I can somewhat understand it in all three cases. However, it's kinda dirty to do that to Pat when the actress is practically begging you not to, if you will. Pauline was offed like she was nothing, that one irks me the most.
  17. Yes it is refreshing how women had goals and dreams aside from wanting a man. They could *gasp* have both. Ciara Brady comes to mind instantly. Heaven forbid we want her to have goals and ambitions. I notice most of the young couple stans just don't get how soaps work. It's only about catering to them and their couple. Anywho ... I love the '94 opening theme but it doesn't do a great job showing the cast. I liked the budget friendly '04 (02?) version.
  18. Thank you. All of this, Carl. All of it. They all had potential but ... you know ...
  19. They do. So many are laughably unable to be critical when it's deserved. But we all know how Ron is on Twitter. He's actually improved a bit but ... lol
  20. I thought it might be her for some reason. She's been on a lot, no? Lots going on. Usually a death knell.
  21. Definitely seemed like a mistake to dump him. But "out with the old" ... And then they recast in 1990/1991 and the guy felt like he should have been a Mike recast instead, lol
  22. All of this would have been possible. I think we're past that point, for the general audience, but who knows? I'd write it in a heartbeat, so they'd want nothing to do with me, lol. I'd be bringing back Hortons left and right. Roman could have been viable but JER had a ... unique ... way of looking at his canvas. He explains it. I'd love to find those articles, probably buried in here. I think it's short sighted. He's not a character driven writer, yet he gives the characters motivations. He's always been fascinating to me, honestly. And I think frustrating because he can structure a story, he learned from some of the best. But he's so outlandish (especially circa 2002-2007) and it's annoying because it always felt like he "had it in him" to do better than he did. A *real* writer who cared about the fabric of the show and the characters would have written exactly that: Roman and Marlena find out, painfully, that "you can't always go back again". It really pisses me off we couldn't correct course in 2004/2005 when Wayne was back. But ... Reilly. And Corday's hard-on for Josh Taylor. I agree with you, just have them both re-assume the roles as if nothing happened. It's DAYS. We accept people donating organs and coming back from the dead so ....
  23. My God I hope this is true! lol I want this to happen so very badly (as do all of us!). I'd subscribe in a heartbeat if this became a reality. Yeah, they'd definitely put the soaps on Hulu
  24. Yep, it would be so much better this way! I hated seeing them throw Roman under the bus when they didn't have to. But JER was single minded at times and didn't see a 'place' for Roman on his canvas. I disagreed with it then. Of course he then used Roman as angst in 1997 and Wayne was on Port Charles. I'm also furious Wayne finally returned and it was for that Alex North bullshit.
  25. Same. I love her for that and she's talented so that helps
