  1. In those clips of Josh Taylor as Quint, you can see the short-lived redesigned set for Company. The set was scrapped after just a few months.
  2. Lynde was "let go" from Y&R? I thought she quit.
  3. I got a chuckle with the caption accompanying the photo on the very bottom right calling Lovers and Friends a big hit. Yeah, right.
  4. Joe Willmore. He was replaced later that spring by Robert Calhoun.
  5. Rauch was executive producer when Zaslow was forced out. Conboy didn't arrive until the 2000s. He was hired around November/December 2002.
  6. Watch again. You can clearly see waves crashing onto the beach.
  7. I thought Marland was still at ATWT at that point. As I recollect, he wrote the ending to The Willows storyline, which culminated in December 1979.
  8. I thought I read on here that Lydia Bruce was originally a temporary replacement as Maggie while Bethel went to California to make a movie. Only Bethel didn't return so Lydia replaced her permanently.
  9. I believe Judi took a few weeks/months off to film a movie.
  10. Mary Joan Negro's character was Anne Whitelaw. She was introduced by Corinne Jacker in late 1981 and was only around for about six months. Her character took Pat Randolph's job at Bravo after Pat left town.
  11. I was confused by that too. Actually Kathleen Maguire is credited as Lila Anderson, who appears in the episodes that aired today. Kathleen Murray was the actress who filled in as Maggie.
  12. And Kathleen Murray reminds me a bit of Barbara Rucker. There's a bit of a resemblance.
  13. Dark Shadows didn't last long on WNBC. I think the show was shifted to 4:30 p.m. before it was dropped.
  14. The fall of '84. It's mentioned in the ad.
  15. The episodes were posted on Dailymotion sometime over night. Apparently, there were issues uploading them. Liz's next-door-neighbor Finch is seriously creepy. Liz is back and staying in a hotel. She has a stalker next door neighbor. Althea is still gone but, according to Maggie, "returns to work on Monday."
  16. I'm really impressed with Pamela Toll. Amazing actress. I just finished today's episodes and in her scenes with Elizabeth Hubbard, Toll reminded me so much of Ellen Parker, who played Maureen on Guiding Light. She both looked and sounded like Parker at points today.
  17. Pretty amazing footage. I assume that's Barbara Stanger, who resembles Donna Mills quite a lot. What was up with that credit about "A Day in the Life of a Daytime Dramatic Show"?
  18. I thought that he had been hired and then the writer's strike hit. Supposedly, Swajeski was head writer during the strike. The strike ended and Lemay's material aired for about 2 months (including the reintroduction of Iris). He was then axed in favor of Swajeski.
  19. The Corringtons' Texas material began appearing on Another World on June 30, a week after this aired. In fact, if I remember correctly, Texas was originally slated to premiere on June 30 but it was then pushed off to an August debut. I'm not sure how true it is, but on another board, someone who claims to be a soap writer (but has never divulged their name) claims that the Corringtons contributed material to Another World from 1979 to 1980 in anticipation of the launch of Texas and that they had created the Bellmans and Kevin Cooke.
  20. Come to Me, Bend to Me from Brigadoon.
  21. Correct me if I'm wrong, guys, but didn't Jim Dedrickson take over the dance studio for his acting troupe?
  22. I watched Edge from its move to ABC in December 1975 to its last day in 1984, along with my mom. The addition of the dance studio was no big deal. Edge did stuff like that constantly. Settings would come and go as necessary. WMON was introduced around 1978 and generated years of story with Winter, Margo, and others. Ditto 1979 with the introduction of the Madisons and the "Mansion of the Damned" story with the movie set being key to the story. In 1980 came the dance studio. It was all part of the show's appeal.
  23. I liked Bethel Leslie as Maggie. I'm not overly familiar with the actress but was she a popular actress of the period? I ask because she got the closing cast credit. One thing really stood out to me in the Maggie/Althea scene and that was Bethel's body language. When Elizabeth Hubbard sat down on the couch, Leslie leaned far away from her. I found it very curious to watch.
  24. No on the VCR. To be honest, I actually don't watch my TV any more, except for a few select shows. Not much on that captures my attention. But I do plan to look into the DVR option because I really want to watch The Doctors.
  25. Gonna look into it this week. We actually don't have a DVR.
