  1. When did Laura run away on General Hospital? I don't recall that.
  2. Great work! I'm loving this series. (So much better than Another World Today). I love seeing the connections to Search for Tomorrow, Guiding Light, and The Edge of Night. It gives me inspiration to possibly try my hand at one. I've been toying for years about a continuation of The Edge of Night though set in the present day. I may give it a shot once I'm done rewriting my novel.
  3. Cool episode. Love seeing characters and settings from other P&G soaps popping up. MLC - McCleary was the name of one of the families on Search for Tomorrow. I'm assuming that Lisa is Felicia's niece Lisa Grady who has married one of the McCleary brothers (maybe Cagney?). Lisa was on AW from 1987 to 1989, I believe, and was involved with Jamie Frame. Lisa had psychic powers. Joanna Going played the role. Earlier, she played Evie Stone on Search for Tomorrow. Evie was connected to Quinn McCleary and his brother Cagney.
  4. Didn't Doris Belack originate the role of Bernice Fish on Barney Miller?
  5. Enjoyed this episode very much. A question: who's Damian? Gina referenced him as her younger brother. I don't recall a Damian.
  6. Probably Capitol. She says the show was doing a little better than AW in the ratings. Y&R was #2 at that point while Capitol was just a little higher than AW. The only rotten characters at that time, I believe, were Myrna Clegg and Paula Denning (to some extent).
  7. Very cool. Was that James Lipton in the scenes with Reverend Keeler, who couldn't seem to remember his lines?
  8. Marland departed Guiding Light around September or October 1982. I think St. Croix happened during the summer. The writing shift was fairly noticeable, in my opinion anyway, especially when Pat Falken Smith launched that weird story of the house crashing into the Reardon's boarding house.
  9. Awesome episode. Loved the ending!
  10. Awesome episode! And I loved all the characters being in it. Perfection!
  11. Phillips did replace Cher in the role after Cher bowed out. That was in 1983. McRae played another character in 1984. In We Love Soap's obit for McRae, Marcia McCabe (Sunny Adamson) reminisces about McRae and her role as Hogan McCleary's literary agent.
  12. Scollay played Harry Wilson, not Harry Johnson. According to the Somerset Register Web site, Harry Johnson was a character who appeared in November 1972.
  13. But did she really kill Karen?
  14. When Jim Reardon was introduced in November 1983, it was reported that he would be involved in a love triangle with Hillary and Katie. That never really materialized.
  15. I thought it was Long that wanted to end Search with them marrying. I can't see how that would have worked. It would have been such a rushed romance.
  16. I believe TR left...maybe around September. And then Jane Krakowski returned for the final episodes.
  17. I'm not sure I buy that as the reason Reed left Search. He left around June 1986 and passed away in 1992. He was quite active in acting after leaving Search.
  18. She described Mathis as a consummate actress but then went on to say that Mathis was remote and not social at all. For what was a loving tribute about Gideon, I (and a number of others online) wondered why McCabe thought it was necessary to make negative comments about Mathis.
  19. Interesting. Did the article mention anything about Love of Life, which is clearly missing from the lineup. Interesting that CBS knew back in July that it would be dropping Love of Life.
  20. I liked Gideon but I suspect they may have recast the role had Search continued. Liza didn't seem to have much to do in the final months, especially after the writers abandoned her relationship with Hogan and wrote out Lloyd and TR.
  21. I, too, liked the tribute on WLS but was disappointed to see Marcia McCabe's remarks about Sherry Mathis.
  22. Sad news. We Love Soaps is reporting that Louan Gideon has passed away after a long battle with cancer. Louan was the final actress to portray the role of Liza. http://www.welovesoaps.net/2014/02/louan-gideon-has-passed-away.html
  23. Thank you for posting this! How beautiful!!!
  24. Yep. Soap Opera Central's biography for Alan even mentions him living at the boarding house after Gus' death in 2008. The scene stood out to me because it depicted Alan lying on a twin bed in a very cramped room. Yep. 25. I don't think he shut it down. Wasn't Alan shown living there in 2008? I think after Dinah took over the Spaulding Mansion that Alan moved into the boarding house. I recall a scene with Alan and Buzz on the steps and then Alan being shown lying on a twin bed in the house.
