I think that might be a typo. I've always heard of the character being referred to as Candy Lowe, not Love. Slick Jones' cast list shows the character as Candy Lowe.

Edge of Night (EON) (No spoilers please)
From seeing 1970s episodes online and live back in the day, I recollect that the Karrs had a kitchen and dining room at one point. They may have even had a patio. If I’m not mistaken, I think Laurie’s ex Johnny disappeared with John Victor. It was nice to see Laurie state that JV was nine years old, meaning he wasn’t SORASed. Yes, Marty Stillwater was Didi’s law partner. He first appeared during the Isis storyline in 1983 and then moved on to a strange story with his grandfather Standing Elk in early 1984. As I recollect, Del was not a fan favorite. During Sharon Gabet’s Edge watch parties on Facebook, viewers hated the character. They especially hated seeing him in a relationship with Geraldine. I much preferred Gerringer in his roles on Texas and The Doctors.

I believe they were step-sisters. Louise's father Winston married Sara's mother Mattie.

BTG: January 2026 Spoilers
Not sure of the timing, but it looks like Alex Cheeks is returning as Donnell McBride at some point. Alex is featured in a video posted by Trisha Mann-Grant on Facebook earlier this week where BTG cast members wish Trisha's daughter Dena a happy birthday. Super excited to see Alex returning as he's a fantastic addition to the cast.

Edge of Night (EON) (No spoilers please)
It was definitely Lisa Sloan who would have played Nicole's doppelgänger. I recently came across some posts about the proposed story from 2008. It had been discussed here and on the late Danfling's message board. A few people, like myself and Soapslover, recall the story being planned for 1985. Others remembered it differently. One person said the story was planned for 1983 after Sloan quickly regretted leaving Edge and asked to return. The person said ABC and P&G vetoed the story. That said, Sheldon did plant the seeds for the story in September 1983 when Miles saw a Nicole lookalike in a restaurant. Here's the scene: As for the Nancy/Mike/Laurie scenes, they were available online at one point. Sharon Gabet used to post episodes on her Facebook page -- kinda a watch party -- and people would chime in with comments and memories about the episode. I'm pretty sure she had screened that episode, so we should hopefully be seeing it soon. It was a lot of fun. Larkin Malloy even showed up for a couple of the discussions.

ALL: Has Anyone Played With AI to Devise a Story For Your Favorite Soap(s)?
I've often thought about writing a continuation of The Edge of Night, with a killer using Kelly McGrath's clown puppet to once again terrorize the residents of Monticello. I recently used ChatGPT to see what it could come up with and, frankly, the results were disappointing. It proposed a storyline featuring Adam and Nicole Drake as major characters in the revival, stating that Adam had been involved in the original 1980-81 clown puppet murder storyline. It also described Adam as being "morally ambiguous" and said he had been revealed as the clown puppet killer back in the early 1980s. Much of what it proposed for an Edge revival deviated greatly from the show's canon. I alerted ChatGPT that Adam and Nicole had been killed off in the original series and couldn't be part of a revival. It then went on to state that the show canon had Nicole murdered by Malcolm Thomas in 1982, followed by Adam's murder in 1984. Of course, Adam had been murdered in 1977, with Nicole murdered in 1983. As I understand it, Malcolm was a character back in the 1960s. ChatGPT then went on to say that Mike Karr had been married to Nicole and married Nancy after Nicole's murder. I personally see value in AI like ChatGPT. It's been an invaluable resource as my husband and I plan our move to Amsterdam in a few years. However, it leaves a lot to be desired in terms of developing fiction.

Texas! Discussion Thread
The scene with Lurlene was not part of the opening sequence. It aired either at the mid-break point or before the last act. That said, I personally loved the scene. Tina Johnson was a real find — a marvelous addition to the cast. In the context of Lurlene’s story arc, the fantasy worked. I think Texas, in a lot of ways, was copying Guiding Light’s Nola fantasies and capitalizing on the talents of an actress who had been on Broadway. Tina would go on to sing in one of the show’s final episodes. I was 19 when that scene aired, and I recall being blown away by her beautiful voice.

Thanks for the tag, @DRW50!! What a treat to watch that. I was always impressed with Karen Kelly. And tagging @NadineC. I recollect they're a big of Tim Maier, who appears in this clip along with Karen Kelly and Claire Yarlett.

Edge of Night (EON) (No spoilers please)
Not to be picky, but it's my understanding that Keith Whitney did not meet his demise in a lighthouse, but rather in a tower on the Whitney summer estate. Historian William J. Reynolds, who used to post here and other soap boards, shared his recollections of the storyline and even had the chance to tour Lords Valley Country Club, where the scenes were filmed. See William's post from July 24, 2012, on the following page for his memories of the storyline. He posted this a few days after visiting Lords Valley Country Club: https://daytimeroyaltyonline.com/the-edge-of-night-discussion-t17011.html I know the scenes with Mike, Nancy, and Laurie reminiscing were once available online, but I had no luck finding them. I recall Sharon Gabet posting episodes on her Facebook, including the final week. I believe the scenes with the Karrs aired on Christmas in 1984.

Awesome topic! I've been playing with ChatGPT to create logo ideas for a new business endeavor, and it's a lot of fun. Here's what it came up with for a logo for Dark Shadows.

Guiding Light Discussion Thread
Jack and Lainie were seen at the Bauer BBQ in July 1988, but did not show up in the clips I've seen online from the July 1987 BBQ when Alan-Michael returned. My recollection is that they first showed up in early 1988 around the time Johnny was battling cancer. Elizabeth Allen had played Reena's mother Victoria Bellman on Texas. She played the role of Dr. Gwen Harding on Guiding Light. Gwen was Annabelle's therapist and was killed by Eli. Mary Pat Gleason also came over from Texas. She played Jane Hogan on Guiding Light and had played the Marshalls' housekeeper Doris Hodges on Texas. I've said this before, but I wonder who Hannah Bauer was slated to be in 1987. Mary Stuart stated in an interview that she was offered the role of Hannah shortly after Search for Tomorrow was axed. I wonder if Hannah was originally supposed to be Johnny, Lacey, and Todd's mother.

Guiding Light Discussion Thread
Two other Texas actors who joined Guiding Light in 1983 were Elizabeth Allen and Stephen Joyce. And I’m pretty certain Sheri Anderson had nothing to do with Jack and Lainie Bauer. Pam Long ditched Bea Reardon in the fall of 1987 after the character had returned the year before. Long then introduced Jack and Lainie to run Company.

The Soap Opera Masterpieces You Have Actually Seen
Some years back, I had the opportunity to share with OLTL's Susan Bedsow-Horgan how powerful Billy's story was and how it transformed my life. At the time the story aired in 1992, I was immersed in a born-again religious cult. I got hooked on OLTL while I was recovering from an illness. The frank portrayal of intolerance in Llanview opened my eyes to the intolerance in the cult and in my own life. Billy's story prompted me to sever ties with the cult and put me on the path to accepting my own sexuality. Truly an amazing story.
