  1. Awesome new design!!! Fantastic work, Errol!!
  2. Not to be picky, but it's my understanding that Keith Whitney did not meet his demise in a lighthouse, but rather in a tower on the Whitney summer estate. Historian William J. Reynolds, who used to post here and other soap boards, shared his recollections of the storyline and even had the chance to tour Lords Valley Country Club, where the scenes were filmed. See William's post from July 24, 2012, on the following page for his memories of the storyline. He posted this a few days after visiting Lords Valley Country Club: https://daytimeroyaltyonline.com/the-edge-of-night-discussion-t17011.html I know the scenes with Mike, Nancy, and Laurie reminiscing were once available online, but I had no luck finding them. I recall Sharon Gabet posting episodes on her Facebook, including the final week. I believe the scenes with the Karrs aired on Christmas in 1984.
  3. Priscilla Garita didn't portray the role of Pilar. That was Paula Garces. And I totally agree about her performances on AMC.
  4. Awesome topic! I've been playing with ChatGPT to create logo ideas for a new business endeavor, and it's a lot of fun. Here's what it came up with for a logo for Dark Shadows.
  5. Teri as Lacey’s mother was a stretch. (Teri was about a year older than Mary.) Thankfully we never saw scenes of Lainie with Lacey.
  6. Jack and Lainie were seen at the Bauer BBQ in July 1988, but did not show up in the clips I've seen online from the July 1987 BBQ when Alan-Michael returned. My recollection is that they first showed up in early 1988 around the time Johnny was battling cancer. Elizabeth Allen had played Reena's mother Victoria Bellman on Texas. She played the role of Dr. Gwen Harding on Guiding Light. Gwen was Annabelle's therapist and was killed by Eli. Mary Pat Gleason also came over from Texas. She played Jane Hogan on Guiding Light and had played the Marshalls' housekeeper Doris Hodges on Texas. I've said this before, but I wonder who Hannah Bauer was slated to be in 1987. Mary Stuart stated in an interview that she was offered the role of Hannah shortly after Search for Tomorrow was axed. I wonder if Hannah was originally supposed to be Johnny, Lacey, and Todd's mother.
  7. Two other Texas actors who joined Guiding Light in 1983 were Elizabeth Allen and Stephen Joyce. And I’m pretty certain Sheri Anderson had nothing to do with Jack and Lainie Bauer. Pam Long ditched Bea Reardon in the fall of 1987 after the character had returned the year before. Long then introduced Jack and Lainie to run Company.
  8. Some years back, I had the opportunity to share with OLTL's Susan Bedsow-Horgan how powerful Billy's story was and how it transformed my life. At the time the story aired in 1992, I was immersed in a born-again religious cult. I got hooked on OLTL while I was recovering from an illness. The frank portrayal of intolerance in Llanview opened my eyes to the intolerance in the cult and in my own life. Billy's story prompted me to sever ties with the cult and put me on the path to accepting my own sexuality. Truly an amazing story.
  9. Wasn't it Rick Oliver? I wasn't watching back then, but I seem to remember reading about Rick.
  10. Fantastic topic, vetsoapfan! Thanks for starting this thread. It's been fascinating reading everyone's memories. I have some memories of watching Return to Peyton Place. I recall Allison and the Tate brothers. Wasn't there a cabin fire where Benny Tate supposedly perished? I recall Monica Bell, the brunette waitress who became a major character toward the end. And Constance's affair with Mike Rossi. For some reason, I recall the scene where they consummate their affair being shot through the window of someone's house. And Constance's slip falling to the floor as she and Mike gave into their passion for each other. I think they replayed that scene over and over. I remember Pamela Susan Shoop's first scene as Allison. I think it was in Eli Carson's store. The voiceover came on announcing the recast, and I think we saw a framed photo of Allison on the wall. I recall being surprised and disappointed as I really liked Kathy Glass in the role.
  11. Actually, Beth and Phillip lasted about a year. Beth was introduced in May 1983 and Lujack came around that November. By July 1984, Beth was with Lujack. I remember rolling my eyes when Beth was going on about her relationship with Phillip being a fantasy, while her relationship with Lujack was based in reality. Or something like that. And moments later, a horse shows up on the beach for them to ride on, just like a romance novel. It was absurd.
  12. I read the article earlier today and was really turned off by a few things that made me question if she’s even watching the show. She mistakenly refers to Vernon as a congressman. She chooses to point out Daphnee Duplaix’s Playboy appearance, but fails to mention her work on Passions or One Life to Live. And she implies that Daphnee is a newcomer. She later it edited it out, but an earlier version of the article today described Vanessa as “very sweet.” I love Vanessa and think Lauren Buglioli is outstanding, but I would not describe Vanessa as “very sweet” at all. And the comments about Chelsea and Allison, frankly, are disturbing. Did she not realize that Chelsea was forced into the wedding? For pity's sake, she was kidnapped; she wasn't engaging in bondage.
  13. What an awesome find, Safe! I just realized that's Kelly Bishop playing the role of whom I assume is DJ's mother. Of course, Kelly would later star as Emily Gilmore on Gilmore Girls.
  14. Thanks! Interesting find. His co-star was Jean Carol, who joined Guiding Light as Nadine Cooper the same year this film was released.
  15. Sorry to go off-topic in the ATWT thread, but this is not accurate. Johnny was introduced in the summer of 1986 during the Mary Ryan Munisteri period. The Joe Manetta/Sheri Anderson period brought back Bea Reardon to run Company, introduced Sarah and Rusty Shayne, and then added Lacey around June 1987. Lacey and Bea were dropped around the time Pam Long returned. The Pam Long period introduced Jack and Lainie and had them run Company until Pam wrote them out. I think they only lasted a year at the most.
  16. Great catch! That music cue was the 1971-1980 theme from The Doctors.
  17. Thanks, Jason!! What fascinating information.
  18. Today's episode. Wow. Absolute perfection. We really saw some great performances. Malachi Malik was phenomenal as Elon. What a riveting performance. I was equally impressed by Jibre Hodges as Jacob. I really hope we meet more Hawthornes so we can see more of the family dynamic. I've never been an Ashley fan, but really enjoyed Jen Jacobs' performance today. I thought she really excelled, and the first time I saw the potential in the character. The Doug/Vanessa scenes were impressive, too. I hope we get to see their kids soon. And the Hayley/Randy twist. WTF? Now this is good soap.
  19. Great commercial! I always loved both actresses. However, Judith didn't portray the role of Pat. Susan Trustman was the other actress who played Pat. Judith portrayed Lenore.
  20. Thank you! I have recollections of Claire's brother being named Sam, though I've seen a few websites refer to him as Jimmy.
  21. I don't think so. I believe Henry was introduced after Roger's death. In the episode where Roger "dies," there's talk of Spaulding's possible merger with Chamberlain.
  22. I don't recall Meredith having a baby. I know she got pregnant by Phillip, but I thought she had a miscarriage. I never considered the similarities between Meredith and Claire before; it's an interesting observation. That said, I much preferred Meredith over Claire. I never cared for Claire. Another similarity between Meredith and Claire is that they both had brothers. Did we ever meet Claire's brother?
  23. Thanks for all you're doing!!!
  24. I was always under the impression that Charles was Phoebe's first husband. As Slick said, she was married to the much younger Wade Matthews in the 80s. I think Wisner Washam and Lorraine Broderick were head writers at that time.
  25. Karen Williams was the original Vicky. She played the role for about six months and was then replaced by Platt. I much preferred Williams over Platt. Didn't Williams' Vicky initially have an accent?
