  1. Saynot, I can't say how appreciative I am of what you share on YouTube. It's such a treat to see these gems. I wish more soap collectors would do the same.
  2. Some speculate that the episode was pre-empted back in 1968 due to the World Series and that Lakin and Edelstein recapped the plot developments via dialogue in the episode that aired yesterday. That makes sense to me. It doesn't make sense that Lakin and Edelstein would skip such a pivotal point in the story, especially since they're taking the time to show the lead-up to the wedding.
  3. Since we're being pummeled by snow, I got to watch today's episodes live. It appears that another episode may have been skipped though we get a brief recap via dialogue. And things are getting a bit weird back at Hope Memorial...
  4. And what of Martha slipping Penny a sip of champagne? Can you imagine that happening today? And the reaction?
  5. Interesting. My hope during that period was that GL would bring on Roscoe Born as Ed Bauer. A bit younger than Peter Simon but I thought his presence would give the Bauer family a much needed boost and a sexy patriarch.
  6. Swajeski started the Iris/Hank romance. She left a few months later.
  7. In terms of the Frame family, I think some potential was wasted before Lemay even arrived. Scuttlebutt had it that Jason was going to be a potential love interest for Rachel when he arrived in late 1987. Plus, he was slated to have two daughters, but they never surfaced.
  8. I didn't get the impression that Steve was horny. I thought he was horribly cruel to Karen in those scenes and wished she had told him to stifle himself.
  9. Very interesting chat between Matt and Mike in the second of today's episodes. The conversation reveals a fact about Mike's past that I wasn't aware of.
  10. Around 1989-1990, there were reports in Soap Opera Digest that AW was casting the role of a young model named Bliss. This was reported a number of times and speculation was that Bliss was slated to turn out to be Felicia's long lost daughter. But then the character never showed up.
  11. Tina and Dianne were perfection as Lurlene and Ruby on Texas. How interesting that they both portrayed Stephanie's secretary.
  12. The Nick/Matt scene was one of my favorites. That said, I loved a scene during one episode where Maggie and Althea were in the clinic and singing and dancing. I think it was Bethel's last episode. It was so unexpected and fun.
  13. By all means, do not skip ahead. There are amazing moments and compelling performances coming up on many fronts. Overall, the story moves along fairly quickly and can be damn riveting at times. Better than anything currently on daytime.
  14. I think she was also a day player on The Edge of Night in 1984. I seem to recall a scene between her and Preacher when they were on a plane.
  15. I really like Steve and Karen, too. I find Karen to be one of the most fascinating characters in the history of soaps. And I have to say that I am loving Peter Burnell as Mike Powers. In just a few episodes, he's won my heart.
  16. Thanks for sharing this, Paul. I'll have to keep an eye out for the house next time we're up there.
  17. I was totally shocked but it and that they allowed the word "abortion."
  18. Actually, in one of the episodes that aired this week, Steve came out and asked Karen point blank if she was contemplating having an abortion...or something like that. I was shocked by that and that he actually used the word "abortion".
  19. I get the impression Carolee is in her early 30s. She mentioned to Liz about her boyfriend being killed in the Korean War. I'm unclear of Steve's age...maybe around Carolee's age. During one episode, he talked about his brother being killed in World War II.
  20. And I love the candy striper. I want to see more of her. Her facial expressions are hilarious to me. I loved that scene with her and Nick and Althea.
  21. OMG!!! What an amazing treasure trove of information. Fascinating! Thanks for posting this. You rock!!!
  22. Veronica Gayley was another one who raped and murdered. Wasn't Sister Sarah raped, too? Or perhaps it was an attempted rape.
  23. How cool! Was she still referred to as Aileen? Or Estelle? Did she have a British accent? Who played Martin?
  24. Slick, I was thinking the same thing. Carlivati and other soap writers need to watch The Doctors to see what soaps are all about.
  25. I was telling my husband about how riveting The Doctors is. As you said, it's very much an adult show. And it's a show based in reality. It's also very fast paced. I find the stories move quickly with most episodes covering one day of time in the characters' lives.
