  1. Yeah, I figured that the poster didn’t pay to use the work of the photographer and/or agency and that they were just coasting off the use that you paid for. It’s a shame that some people choose to ignore the basic tenets of fair use and social media etiquette. That sounds really weird. I don’t know what to say about that. It really sounds like it’s more about what’s going on in the psyche of that particular person.
  2. So far, I have only seen the pilot episode and it’s got some promising elements, including a reasonably likable cast. Yes, many of NBC’s highly successful sitcoms did need a full season or two to find their footing and/or audience. I just wonder whether NBC will be patient enough to allow this show that space as it once did in the 1980s and ‘90s. Network executives have been somewhat impatient in the last decade, and unfortunately, so are viewers sometimes. I was curious to see if anyone had asked Richard Moll and Marsha Warfield on their thoughts on this reboot. I haven’t heard anything expressed, which makes me wonder whether there could be the possibility of a couple cameos down the road. I don’t think people should rush this, especially seeing that there a brand new characters that viewers need to get to know. Hopefully once they are established, there will be room for some appearances from surviving cast from the first series. I would love to see what happened to Quon Le, she and Mac had at least one child together and I am curious to know what happened to them. The writers may not want to deal with all of that but I think it would be a nice nod to the character of Mac and his history, much of which played out on camera. but yeah, I think it may require a little patience for this show to hit its stride. There are hints of that zaniness that the original series had but television, especially network television is risk averse these days and the original series seemed to take plenty of risks, at times it dabbled in the subversive, which made it special.
  3. Ellen Parker did a magnificent job with the material in that storyline and of course, earned her Daytime Emmy but I for one, would have liked to see more of how the hurt, bitter, and angry Maureen Bauer might have manifested and perhaps subverted the characteristics of the matriarch that had always been essential to GL, even if it were only temporary. Like you, I felt there was much more story to tell for this character and leading off from the Maureen that we saw in her final days would have liberated her to dive into an interesting direction, and if they found the character going too far, they could have always brought her back to her center-Maureen had always been a very centered character.
  4. It’s just become impossible to keep up and keep track of all the things. It’s not about shaming drag, it’s about someone who aligns himself with ultra conservative and right wingers who put laws in place to try to dehumanize people, including people who dress in drag. Do people not see the conflict?
  5. Have you seen this 2 part Frontline special? It was excellent in how thoroughly it presents how “Big Oil” essentially gaslit (pun intended) the public, using the paid research of scientists, academics and researchers. Some politicians also used this research to promote their political agendas. I am not sure whether PBS has these episodes behind the paywall (they have an annoying habit of doing this now, although educational videos tend to have a longer grace period for viewing) but it is definitely worth checking out. https://www.pbs.org/video/the-power-of-big-oil-part-one-denial-redxh6/
  6. As a writer myself, I feel for you Errol. It’s a violation when you take the time and thought to craft your own words, and someone swoops in and scoops what you have written and presents those words as if it’s theirs, without any acknowledgment to what you have done. Also, did that person secure permission to post that photograph? I have seen people on social media get into trouble for posting photos without accreditation. Very careless and irresponsible. Sadly, many people don’t consider lifting the works of others and using them as their own to be a big deal, when it’s pretty egregious.
  7. Good news.
  8. Daytime soap operas and their history with Black characters is worthy of a thesis all on its own.
  9. Paula Badosa is out of the Australian Open with injury.
  10. No doubt, but she also had great judgement to leave on good terms before the next decade when quality would dip. She wasn’t the only one to do so.
  11. I thought JMac did commentary for Eurosport.
  12. The continuing saga of George Anthony Devolder Santos whatever his name is…he’s got more names than Erica Kane had husbands. A genuine scammer.
  13. Julianne Moore is the truth! She is such a proud ATWT alumni. Here she gives a shout out to both her time at ATWT and her soap co-star (and distant cousin) Marisa Tomei.
  14. On a positive note, the national deficit decreased significantly. Courtesy of a random twitter account with a free link.
  15. More classified documents were found, this time at a residence of Bilen’s. SMH. This could have been avoided.
  16. Oh damn. How tragic. She didn’t look well when she appeared at the Golden Globe awards but this was beyond what would have come to mind as being a possibility.
  17. Just came across this. The 2nd week’s numbers are even higher than that of the previous week. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/streaming-tv-rankings-dec-12-18-2022-1235298312/
  18. I hope so too.🙏🏾 It’s been a long time since I’ve seen her last, so I was unaware that she’d been looking so rundown for so long. The conspiracy theorists are out in full force promoting their crackpot hypotheses. You never know what illnesses people could be walking around with. Between this and the 24 year old NFL player who collapsed after tackling another player on the field, doctors are getting a bevy of experience in treating cardiac injuries in relatively young patients. Sadly, it brings to mind, the plethora of expertise doctors gained in treating gunshot wounds over the last two and a half decades because of all the shootings in the United States. Many more people have been saved than would previously been in decades past but what a cost to get there! This sadly, seems like something similar, although it’s puzzling as to what is causing it.
  19. Wasn’t Lisa Marie Presley just at the Golden Globe awards on Tuesday night? There are reports that she may have gone into cardiac arrest and had to be resuscitated with CPR and epinephrine by paramedics before being rushed to the hospital. JMO but she looked a bit unwell but I somehow convinced myself that she might have been overwhelmed by emotion at seeing the actor who portrayed her father win a GG that night.
  20. Cannot remember the last time I watched a full Davis Cup match.
  21. About Netflix streaming the SAG awards—they have only agreed to stream the award ceremony for free on their YouTube channel for 2023. It is understood that 2024 will be exclusive to the Netflix paid subscription service.
  22. Reporters (rather than media personalities), remember them?
