Serena was not on my list to win this tournament this year, so the vainglorious boasts won't upset me. Calling her a cow seems a bit on the misogynoir-ish side though. As I said before, I slept very soundly throughout this tournament. I don't see what other people have to get upset about. *shrugs*. If the interest isn't there, it just isn't. No amount of perceived boasts or insults will make it so. ESPN persists in trying to sell that 3rd rate ESPN+ service. That's a "no" from me.

I've never gotten this much sleep through an Australian Open since they started showing night matches. I think I saw about a handful of matches the entire fortnight. I swear, if they don't speed up these damn courts...

Got a hankering to watch an episode of Capitol and came across this AT&T commercial with William LeMassena and realized that I remember this commercial distinctly, was very fond of when I was a child but during that time, never made the connection with Ambrose Bingham (in my defense I was just a kid). I know that LeMassena was the second Ambrose but I believe he was already in the role when this commercial aired. Anyway, this commercial always exuded such warmth to me.

Oh, so now folks are complaining about the messed up DNC criteria?? (*shrugs*)

Trump's defense team (who seems to be mostly going through the motions) seems to want to make this about Hunter Biden and his perceived "corruption".

I'm really grateful to all the YouTube accounts that post their episodes. The uploads of GL are really in great quality overall. Again, I'll never understand why, in the decade+ years that the show has now been off the air, P&G couldn't let some dedicated group access their episode archives to post on a dedicated P&G YouTube channel. If there were one place to go to, rather than going to ten different channels, I'd bet they'd really see some numbers in terms of visits to the channel. YouTube has a cost-sharing initiative--it wouldn't make them rich (although there are some YouTubers who have made great livings off page clicks) but it would be a lot better than letting the videos sit there and risk degradation. Many people will say, it would take too long to digitize and upload episodes. Well, it's been 11 years now, and had they started the effort back then or continued from where SoapClassics left off, they'd have made significant progress with the episodes they have. There are so many loyal dedicated fans (some of which have relevant skills) that they likely could have found the necessary volunteers to accomplish the tasks. Again though, kudos to the folks on YouTube who post their episodes without asking anything in return.

A lot of people credit Weinstein for how he reshaped the independent film industry but I think he reshaped it for the worse. Over the past year, I've read a few in-depth articles about first time filmmakers who had "breakthrough" films, only never to follow up on that perceived breakthrough. Many of those filmmakers with of color, particularly black women. I was reading an article in The New Yorker yesterday and it discussed a groundbreaking film by Leslie Harris that was produced by Miramax (Weinstein's first film production company). Unfortunately, the film (Just Another Girl On The I.R.T.) appears to be Harris' first and only film. And the story seems to have replicated itself among quite a few independent filmmakers. JMO but I no longer believe that an independent film industry exists. There is one or two true indie film but the rest are big budget movies that are labelled as independent films simply because they were produced outside of a major studio. Some of the "indies" today are produced by a consortium of "boutique" studios, most of which are either own outright or in part by major studios anyway. Weinstein trading up from films like Just Another Girl On the I.R.T. to investing heavily in Hollywood Oscar fare (the Shakespeare In Love type fare) changed the definition of what constitutes an independent film. Because he had so much godawful clout in the industry, the entire industry appeared to shift in his direction. So went Harvey, so went the industry. Just another example of how much of a shame it was for one abusive man to have so much power. Weinstein really ruined so much. Mike Pence's response to this is certainly not surprising but interesting. Also not surprising is Trump talking like a wannabe thug/gangster.

Anyone who accepts the endorsement and support from someone who compares the continent of Africa (of course, many of these dumbf*cks believe that Africa is a country) to "Planet of the Apes" will never get my vote. MKA should be on a soap today! I can really imagine her on a soap like Y&R. With some decent writing, I could imagine she'd play well off of PB, EB, JW and the other soap vets, in particular. Did you all know that the actress who played little Dori is prominent producer in animated T.V. shows? I think she started out doing V.O. for those shows before switching to the production side.

🤣Those scenes with Mindy and the big bodyguard. Krista Tesreau is as cute as can be here. Roxy would be a total anomaly on today's soaps. A young woman who is ambitious enough to be engaged in her studies and academics, while also being hung up on a guy--soaps today seem to forget that a woman can do both. Seeing and contrasting the opening theme from 1994 compared to 1986 and in '86 you can actually see each and every character in the opening, while in 1994, it moves so fast you barely catch a glimpse of some of the characters. Of course, I think '94 was trying to squeeze in more faces.

I think it depends on where you look. She's pretty well known in the NYC theater scene. She produced Tony Award winning plays, she's acted opposite Denzel Washington onstage (as well as screen). Onscreen she's also acted opposite Al Pacino and also opposite Samuel L. Jackson, in a movie directed by fellow ATWT alum Kasi Lemmons. Recently I saw her playing Jason Momoa's mother on Netflix in an underrated series that aired on Sundance years ago, called The Red Road. I think the thing is that Tunie has generally been ahead of trends in front of the screens (she tends to work with a lot of people before their career blows up or during quiet periods) and behind the scenes (she's also done about two decades' worth of voice-over work) on some of the biggest projects (she produced the Tony Award winning musical Spring Awakening which put Lea Michele out in front of the eyes of TV showrunners). Also, I think that Tunie has been more of a character actress but when you add up her stage and screen credits, she done a whole lotta work over the years!
