  1. Looking back at these earliest episodes, it really is obvious why these particular actors were chosen to portray the Logan family- the bone structure, along the jawline in particular, is very similar, and when you add in Judith Baldwin, the actress who played the original Beth Logan, the pattern of facial similarities between the actors who portrayed the Logans is magnified that much more. I'm not saying they look identical, just that the bone structure, especially along the jawline is strikingly similar.
  2. It's weird how all these soap blogs that normally feast on rumors are so mum in instances like these.
  3. Well damn, how many Hollywood leading men have abused Natalie Wood?!
  4. Speaking of Boehlert, this makes me wonder whether the Democratic party is equipped to do this, because the lying only seems to be getting worse with little acknowledgement from most media.
  5. More on the Peng Shuai sexual assault allegations and the ensuing censorship by the Chinese government.
  6. Ooh, it's been awhile since I procured a script for a television show, lol. I used to get scripts in the regular when I was in graduate school when I took a sitcom writing course. I have a small library of film scripts though.
  7. As someone who grew up on Y&R but no longer watches, part of me thinks that maybe I have no right to answer this question, but I did see Burton's first run on Y&R and honestly, I wouldn't be interested in a Dylan return, the character had become dead weight by the time of Burton's exit. An initial return might give Nikki something to do initially, but with JG's writing, that would last all of a week. Paul's no longer on the canvas, Sharon has Rey, who is basically a Dylan replacement. The Chance aspect has effectively taken the place of Dylan's disappearance. Also, if he is not vaccinated, what's the point? Y&R probably has more elder actors on the show than GH. Why put them at risk for a minor character who wasn't even known to the show's longtime fans until a few years ago? Not worth the trouble, imo.
  8. "...long defined the state", you mean the country, right? Where has Politico been?
  9. Unless the WHO and the CDC is putting people in front of a Congressional committee for hours on end, asking them to "name names" of the suspected unvaccinated, I think the analogy to McCarthyism is a poor one. I spent time reading about writers and artist who actually suffered under the blacklists, many had to move to Mexico and Europe just to make a living. Having conservatives in Congress dragging someone before a committee, badgering them to name other people who may or may not have a political affiliation is different from a private company that sets it's own policies. Also, Communism may have been seen as a scourge but it wasn't a highly transmissible, deadly disease that could kill within days. If anything, at least tuberculosis and the scare it produced in the late 19th, early 20th century might have made a more apt analogy.
  10. No, just lonely (from being isolated on that ranch in New Mexico) and stressed out. Of course, Meg was willing to do whatever it took to "alleviate" Dusty's stress, especially if it meant driving a permanent wedge between Dusty and Lily. It's odd, considering the tight bond Lisa had with Kim and Bob that she wouldn't have that with Chris, especially since Lisa was known for easily bonding with the young adults in town. It's sad when history is forgotten. It's what I appreciate when seeing that 1986 episode where Bob throws in that barb about Lisa taking motherhood so casually and Bob's contrite demeanor once he sees how wounded Lisa is by his words. That history was deftly inserted in that scene, just for a moment. One of the things I appreciated about ATWT the most when it was really good were those subtleties.
  11. @Soapsuds mentioned Dylan Bruce who played Chris Hughes in the "Where Are They Now?" thread, which reminded me of a question that came to mind yesterday, with all this talk of Eileen Fulton and Lisa: Was Lisa active in Chris's life when he became an adult? I know that she was his godmother. As many of you may know, my viewing became sparse by the late 90s (and ultimately, dropped off in subsequent years afterward), so I really don't remember Lisa having a very close relationship with Chris, but perhaps someone else paid more attention during that final stretch of the series.
  12. Speaking of Chris Hughes, I had a question but I'd better reserve that for the ATWT thread, I think.
  13. I mean, if she trusts the writers to handle the topic with grace, anything is possible given enough time, I guess.
  14. Would she be okay with that though? It could easily end up being exploitative, especially since it just happened.
  15. Wow, I would love to hear the backstory behind all this! If there were still a SoapNet, surely a documentary would have been done on this.
  16. I'm seeing the dismal turnout in some of these local races and it becomes obvious why in certain races, the incumbents kept their positions. There were some genuine gains for Democratic candidates of color, in particular. Having friends in Boston, MA and having travelled there frequently and having experienced some of the Boston-style racism up close, it really is something for my mind to get around the fact that Boston now has a Taiwanese American mayor. The racists won't disappear (it is Boston, after all) but hopefully she can get as much of her agenda accomplished as possible- she will have to, or they will come for her in full force.
  17. And now Janet is trending in the Entertainment category. What is going on? I mentioned both upthread!
  18. Whew, Britney Spears basically told her mom to go f*ck herself, as Britney stated that it was her mom's idea to do the conservatorship since she doesn't believe her father smart enough to come up with such an idea.😵💥
  19. I was talking about ATWT specifically, and using music rights issues as the primary reason for not being able to show episodes, streaming or otherwise. Years ago, SoapClassics sold episodes of ATWT on DVD. So they obviously got around the music issue by using alternative music. The reason why it didn't continue was because they didn't extend licensing to the distributor. My contention was that music rights was not the primary reason why we no longer get to see episodes of vintage ATWT episodes. There is nuance that is missing but it is not all about music rights. Unlike B&B, ATWT was being fully digitized by the SoapClassic people. B&B is simply putting out their analog episodes. This is especially evident when you look at the screen ratio, as it is not formatted to today's LCD type screens. The number of people who had been complaining about B&B's screen ratio without realizing that, in order to fit today's screens they would have to go through the process of digitizing episodes like ATWT did with their collections. It's not all down to music rights, that's what I have been contending. If B&B had been digitizing episodes, instead of throwing them out there on analog, as they've been doing, perhaps it would have been a lot trickier for them to do as well, but wisely, they just threw the episodes out there, as is. I think putting the issue down to music rights, and music rights alone is an oversimplification if the issue.
  20. OMG, if this is true.
  21. It seems cruel to keep 17 cats in a studio apartment in NYC, but maybe it's just me.
  22. Aww at Venus and Serena getting their own emojis. The Beyhive is starting to get on my nerves though, lol.
