  1. The last time Trump was in office, people literally died. This is not theoretical. It’s not about wonder. It is about fact. People who were in his cabinet have been warning that he will be worse because he will be unbounded by anyone who would have held his worse impulses in check. You can’t put lipstick on a pig. America voted to throw her arms widen open to facism. Let’s stop thinking otherwise.
  2. At this point, I feel very numb. I’m also tired.
  3. The state where I reside voted blue in all of the highest levels (POTUS, Congress) but I feel like I invest and have gotten little to nothing in return. I am genuinely looking at where dual citizenship can take me at this point. I feel as if, the longer I stay here, the more stunted my prospects become.
  4. And please don’t blame Black women or Black voters, we are like the canaries in the coal mine, we always see the danger. People decided to vote for a felon who, in the last days…mimicked a sex act in public on a microphone and Harris is the flawed candidate? Mkay.
  5. I hate to sound apocalyptic but I had this awful feeling that many people will lose their lives. Like his first term. There needs to be a serious reckoning in America.
  6. All of the songs post above are in my personal playlist of loved songs and the Tevin Campbell and Secret Garden songs are from my adolescence but I remember watching the Listen Up documentary and being shocked that Jones produced this song.
  7. Oh, do I ever hope so! I could not abide by likes of Musk possibly benefiting from my data and creative output. Even while he shows utter contempt for many of the people who use Twitter, he benefits from their tweets and data.
  8. The article also stated that Musk is boosting pro GOP/right-wing tweets, so those of who often turn to Twitter and find yourself with more than a healthy dose of nerves or depressed more than usual, that is also by design. Get off Twitter guys, it’s a wasteland by design. My post got broken up, unfortunately, that is why it is in two separate posts, which was not my intention.
  9. I wish people would finally abandon Twitter, it’s getting ridiculous. Either Musk is deliberately junking this social media platform or is allowing the wheels to fall off, one by one. There was an article stating that he is centering his account and what benefits his interests, while stifling opposing voices. That tweet that was posted upthread from someone claiming to have been trying to post it all day, does anyone actually believe that this is by accident, or that it’s some kind of glitch? It’s a feature not a bug.
  10. Wow, there are enough accolades to describe his influence on music and culture. All that can be said for now is R.I.P. Mr. Quincy Jones and my condolences to his family and loved ones.
  11. People seem to want to dismiss or forget the Comey factor. Repeatedly. I am not singling out anyone in this thread but in general, I have noticed the panic (though I generally avoid it because I am not on Twitter) but if we’re going to compare, include all the information in making comparisons. That’s all I am saying.
  12. Despite a lot of Russian meddling, Maia Sandu was reelected president of Moldova. https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/moldova-holds-presidential-runoff-election-amid-claims-russian-meddling-2024-11-03/
  13. Apologies if this has been posted previously but this is a very strong ad.
  14. ¡Dios mío! Those floods are tragic, many lives lost.
  15. It’s sad (and frightening) that we live in a society where a woman can get expletives hurled at her or slashed in the face if she dares to ignore a random man who catcalls her in the street but here we are.
  16. For those reasons, in the back of my mind, I guess there is some lingering concern about having too many of the same people who presided over the deterioration of daytime soaps presiding over the production side of BTG. I know they need a certain number of experienced hands if they want to hit the ground running but a few of the names don’t really inspire a whole lot of confidence but I am keeping my mouth shut and my mind open on this, with hopes for the best.
  17. However this enterprise turns out, it must be an amazing feeling for MVJ to experience her long cherished dream coming to fruition.
  18. While I do find it disconcerting that Tuareg separatist groups are joining forces with some Al Qaeda, it is giving Wagner a taste of their own medicine while broadcasting the atrocities committed against local Malian civilians by Wagner on their own Telegram channel for a Russian audience to witness. If only, this could mean the beginning of the end of the Wagner group on the continent of Africa. How Wagner’s Ruthless Image Crumbled in Mali
  19. It was something I always expected to happen. The writing for these characters still seems to be mediocre but I guess we will see if the quality of writing for BTG will really challenge the remaining soaps to step up their standards.
  20. Jenny gave a damn good speech.
  21. Wow, I remember seeing a headline showing him with a quote about mental health and how guys need help too but I thought he meant in general. I had no idea that he was struggling. I think more players have struggled with this than has been made public. I had always hoped that Grigor and Gaël would each win at least one major before they retire, but more and more I doubt this will happen. If tennis industry would stop trying to label players as machines and superhuman and accept that some days players struggle, I think tennis as a sport could finally be a sport of our times. Personally , I don’t find much entertainment value in pickleball but pickleball allows people to accept that people sometimes have limitations (injuries, age, restrictions on level of ability) yet can still enjoy the game. At least don’t frame the situation as a player being weak if they need help.
  22. I have been paying the barest amount of attention to tennis but I saw that clip of Ugo Humbert taking Carlos Alcaraz out of the Paris Masters tournament and man, the French fans were rocking that entire arena. It must have been a Davis Cup-like environment!
