  1. Quint and Nola were quite popular in their day (and they're my second favorite soap couple ever on a soap). But they didn't have the longevity of the other couples you mentioned. I didn't like it when the show officially made Quinton Henry's son. Then they made him a college professor. Boring! It just seemed to take away much that made him unique. I also wanted Quinton and Nola to remain at Thornway Road instead of living with Henry and Vanessa.
  2. There definitely is a resemblance (and rhyming last names, lol). Kathleen was Liza for several years in the early 70s and Meg Bennet replaced her. She was just a teen when she played the role. I believe Kathleen had replaced Denice Nickerson in the role.
  3. Speaking of Liza, last night Angela Cartwright posted a picture of herself and Kathleen Beller (my favorite Liza) at the "Lost in Space" 50th anniversary reunion.
  4. I was surprised too. It wasn't very good.
  5. Dark Shadows is coming back to broadcast tv in May on a CBS sub-channel called "DECADES." The network is airing a 68-hour marathon at that time. https://willmckinley.wordpress.com/2015/01/24/original-dark-shadows-rises-from-the-dead-on-cbs-decades-tv-network/
  6. That's too bad that Suzanne and Sam's marriage didn't work out. I wonder what Sam is up to these days? Retro TV is going to start airing his old syndicated tv show soon. I remember it as "Simon Locke, M.D.," but I think its name was changed to "Police Surgeon," or something similar. I found a few more synopses. This time related to Michael Horton's impending birth. From the September 22, 1968, "La Crosse Tribune."
  7. I thought he was Jon Walmsley (Jason Walton) at first but then realized he would have been too young to play the role in 1968.
  8. The Dr. Hayes mentioned in that last synopsis must be Margot Moser's character. Moser and Jock Gaynor were two the original stars when the show began. They were let go when it changed from an anthology to a five-part per week format (which occurred the week of July 19, 1963). This is from a newspaper from that week: "With Jock Gaynor and Margot Moser of the original cast both departed, the Hope Hospital staff is augmented by James Pritchett as new Chief of Staff and Ann Williams (Erica Brandt of the defunct 'Young Doctor Malone series) as an outpatient assistant. In another format change the . . . series shifts from daily dramas to week-long, 5-parters, opener dealing with a dying woman who refuses treatment until after the wedding of her daughter." And these are articles about Moser and Gaynor prior to their departures:
  9. From the "Pittsburgh Courier," July 22, 1967. This is the first storyline I have memories of (Susan Martin killing her husband, David, after their baby was accidentally killed while David was playing with him).
  10. I remember a curly-haired little boy playing Jamie sometime between babyhood and Bobby Doran's version.
  11. My take on Matt is that the he found the attention from Karen flattering but now it's gone too far and he doesn't know how to get out of it. He has minimized Maggie's feelings about the situation from the beginning. I'm really tired of him blaming Maggie.
  12. Well, that script cover confirms that we'll be seeing Jody Lee Bronson (C.C. Courtney) soon. I remember that C.C. Courtney was a bit of a teen heart throb back then.
  13. Yes, Brent is Doug and the plan he was formulating was to seduce Susan Martin for the money he had learned that she had inherited. She saw through him though and instead she paid him to seduce Julie away from Scott.
  14. I stumbled across an old newspaper article from 1970 that said Days was the only soap that provided the press with synopses of upcoming episodes. I did a search on newspapers.com and found these brief synopses (from the Zanesville, Ohio, Times-Recorder). Tuesday, November 11, 1969 A worried Bill mulls over whether to heed Kitty's summons to her apartment. Peter faces up to a difficult scene with Claire. Wednesday, November 12, 1969 Bill meets with Kitty and receives a stunning request. Tommy worries over Sandy's seemingly growing attachment to her mother. Monday, November 17, 1969 Janene senses that Bill is upset about something as they begin their trip. The police arrive at Kitty's apartment, ask for a lab analysis, but doubt foul play. Tuesday, November 18, 1969 Police at Kitty's apartment begin to suspect a possible homicide when they find evidence that could link Peter Larkin to Kitty's death. Wednesday, November 19, 1969 Police interrogate Claire and Peter because more and more they feel they are dealing with a homicide. Another clue leads in a different direction. Thursday, November 20, 1969 Kitty's death begins to have more effect on her acquaintances. Laura and Mickey worry that Tommy might be involved. Tom has to face breaking the news to Sandy about her mother's death. Friday, November 21, 1969 Police pinpoint the fact that Tommy may have visited Kitty before her death. Tom breaks the news to Tommy and Alice as Sandy, unaware of her mother's death, starts off to see Kitty. Thursday, November 27, 1969 Sandy blames herself and Tommy for what happened to her mother. After questioning Tommy, the investigators are not satisfied with his answers, and ask to speak to Sandy. Friday, November 28, 1969 Bill listens to the tape recording he took from Kitty. He then makes a decision to retain the tape, despite his realization about how potentially dangerous it is. Monday, January 5, 1970 Danton and Perry come up with some interesting information about Janene's past. Bill is surprised by a visit from Laura. Tuesday, January 6, 1970 Bill tries to talk to Sandy about his case. Will offers Julie some advice and tells her of the upcoming court appeal. Wednesday, January 7, 1970 Scott learns that his future with Brad will be determined in a few days. Julie gets some unexpected advice from Sandy. Thursday, January 15, 1970 Mickey tells Tom of his desire to withdraw from Bill's case. Tom finally decides to pay a visit to Bill. Friday, January 9, 1970 Mickey tells Tom and Alice of the harsh charges that have been made against Bill. Julie recalls past events that have led to her present situation. Friday, January 16, 1970 Tom implores Mickey to continue representing Bill. Laura makes another attempt at persuading Bill to reveal the whole truth. Monday, February 2, 1970 Bill asks Marie to promise she will not repeat her theory about his reasoning to anyone. Sandy is surprised by an unexpected visitor. Tuesday, February 3, 1970 Julie and Scott have different ideas about how to celebrate David's birthday. Tommy comes to Bill with a plea designed to protect Sandy from the truth. Wednesday, February 4, 1970 Danton tells Charles of a new theory he has about Bill's case. Bill finally reaches the critical decision on the plea he intends to enter. Thursday, February 5, 1970 When Alice learns of Bill's decision, she goes to see him. As the hearing begins, Mickey asks Bill if he would like to reconsider his decision. Friday, February 6, 1970 The state's attorney and Mickey present their cases to the judge, and as Bill's hearing concludes, the court makes an announcement. Monday, March 2, 1970 Tom tells Laura of Bill's strange reaction regarding the safety deposit key. Alice asks Julie how she feels about Scott and Austin. Tom goes to New York to claim the safety deposits contents. Wednesday, March 4, 1970 Julie, Austin, Susan, Scott and Mickey learn the court's decision in the custody hearing. Tom claims the contents in the safety deposit box and is curious about the audio tape in the envelope. Thursday, March 5, 1970 Alice is overjoyed at the outcome of the custody decision. Austin tells Julie that they must discuss their future. Susan and Scott are saddened by the custody outcome and Scott receives a visitor. Friday, March 6, 1970 Alice berates Tommy for the resentment that he, Mickey and Tom harbor toward Bill. Tom plays the tape and what he hears leaves him stunned. Monday, March 16, 1970 Alice is overjoyed by Julie's decision to allow Susan to see David anytime. Susan and Scott visit David and emotions run high when Susan holds David in her arms. Sarah and Brent talk about his release and Bill and Sarah discuss Brent's plans to visit Salem. Thursday, March 19, 1970 Sarah and Eric ponder Brent's decision to go to Salem. Janene asks Susan why she never married Bill. Brent begins to formulate plans after reading Janene's letter to Bill. Friday, March 20, 1970 Scott informs Susan of Austin's proposal to Julie and realizes what the marriage would mean to his relationship with David. Tom cautions Julie against a marriage borne of need rather than love. Susan and Julie promise to bury their differences.
  15. This is from a 1979 "TV Dawn to Dusk." The headline is misleading because Bill didn't do anything except appear in a scene with her when she had a bit part on Days. He did mention it in his book though so she obviously made an impression. He said it was shortly after Doug got out of prison (so that would have been 1970). http:/
  16. I remember Peter Ratray but had no idea about the film! Wasn't he sort of a teen heart throb? Seems like I remember seeing him in "16 Magazine."
  17. Peter Simon went to As the World Turns soon after he left SFT (which I think was in 1979). And he should be turning up on GL soon (assuming the clips continue).
  18. I hope we get to see Bunker walk too. Well, if Matt had been hurt, Karen will be useless too, so maybe Ed will have to pitch in. Only one shot was fired so far though. Maybe Anderson shot himself or the shot was deflected somehow. AllMyShadiows, I got a big kick out of Bunker when he was stirring things up. The actor was just so good. Now I just plain love him and he turned in to one of my favorite characters.
  19. Bunker might have been able to get through to Ralph because of his own guilt about his wife (and wrongly blaming Matt). But it would have been interesting to have him there when he was still holding his grudge and being snarky. He would have been all over this!
  20. Another tense hour. Ralph has gone beyond the deep end, waiting to get the "word," to kill everyone. Can't wait to see what happens next! Poor Carolee, she always has trouble getting people to listen to her (and she's usually right with her instincts). Loved the Nick & Althea scenes, especially when he thought she was teasing him on the phone and then when she was cradling him in her arms.
  21. Nola should be meeting Quinton soon. I hope the person who has been uploading these clips has that episode.
  22. I also don't think hospital security guards would have been the norm in 1968. I'm looking forward to seeing how Hope Memorial gets out of this mess. No one else was in the room when Lila asked Nick to help her so he doesn't have any witnesses. I can't see Ralph making a sea change in his attitude the way Bunker did. And yes, amybrickwallace, Matt and Nick look great in their scrubs (of course, I think Nick always looks great, lol).
  23. Thanks for the article DRW50! I get a bonus with the SSH picture, lol. Today's episode was very intense too. I won't say anymore for now in case others haven't had a chance to see it.
  24. I may have trouble looking at Steve the same way again after seeing today's first episode. I had no idea this was how he became involved with Karen. By the time I remember seeing them, she was causing all the problems. Now I see he brought the problems on himself.
  25. I knew that would be happening but I wasn't expecting it this soon, lol!
