  1. I really do think it's all about his sons - they just creep me the hell out. I'm seeing spin at contrarian sites like Slate that this will actually help elephants, but in my heart I don't believe that. I imagine a lot of people are out there right now yukking it up over those liberals being in their feelings over this, without caring about beautiful creatures being slaughtered by sociopaths wearing rictus grins. Anyone who gets that much pleasure out of hunting and killing an elephant is mentally unwell and I'd never want to be around them. This is likely one of the reasons the GOP is working to restrict broadband access and allow a handful of names to control all media - social media and information is one of the biggest threats to these types of boondoggles.
  2. I tend to wonder if they were looking for a reason to boot him anyway.
  3. Lydia could be plopped into any Robert Altman film from the '70s. It's very odd seeing that type of persona on this type of show.
  4. Some men want to be caught, deep down.
  5. Thanks for finding all this. I see that Lynch is again not saying anything about season 4, which the media are saying means it's not happening. I have to admit I'll be surprised if it's already being filmed next year, but Kimmy's comment does make me wonder. Speaking of Kimmy, I had to laugh when the moderator asked her that question about a fantasy of another project she was in revived by fans, and she kept saying Twin Peaks fan support wasn't a fantasy. That was very Lucy of her...
  6. I think Victoria having a baby would just limit her even more, although if Adam was staying I would have liked it. If they want a child for a Sugden they should have just brought in a kid from Robert's years away.
  7. She has been a guest on Hannity. Hannity went from saying Moore had 24 hours to hand-waving Moore, saying it's up to voters. And now this comes out. I think that McConnell likely doesn't want Moore in the Senate - even beyond the allegations he's mostly been a huge headache and attention whore who is only popular with the base, which is the last thing McConnell would want more of - and that all of this is happening from the Bannon side of the GOP. I do believe her, as Franken spent 20 years in the meat factory of SNL (a horribly sexist place), and his generation of men certainly had carte blanche when in positions of power, but the timing and motivations are something I am struggling with. Again, if this is true I think he should resign, but what bothers me is that this is being pushed by people who worship men like Trump and Moore as gods. This is essentially exploiting sexual harassment for political gain. And I have a feeling this won't be the last time either.
  8. As for Al Franken, I think the photo is repulsive (I've seen some say it's not so bad because he didn't actually touch her - if this was done without her permission it's bad no matter what), and in an ideal world he should resign, but the timing of it feels off to me. I do believe her, but this came out at the perfect time - not just to help Trump, but also to help Roy Moore, who gets to act like a martyr and when he wins (he's going to win - he was going to win no matter what), he, the GOP, and the Beltway can say there's no reason to expel him or do anything but support him, because Al Franken is still in office. Even if Al Franken resigned tomorrow, Roy Moore would still win and he would still be seated. And the media would shrug it off, as would voters. They don't care what Republicans do, especially Republicans who hide behind a fake and craven perversion of faith that degrades the many good Christians out there who are so unrepresented today.
  9. Speaking of the pipeline, I can't remember if this was already posted: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-10-25/under-trump-made-in-america-is-losing-out-to-russian-steel
  10. I see that the NYT has popped up with yet another article about Bill Clinton, doing their best to redirect the conversation about Roy Moore and about harassment against women in politics toward Clinton and how Democrats are now on the backfoot. This is the type of preening that the NYT loves, even as the world is burning. This is always their big obsession. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/15/us/politics/bill-clinton-sexual-misconduct-debate.html I'm going to be honest here and say I never liked Bill Clinton, I never trusted him. I believed some of the accusations against him. What is easy to forget now, especially in a media that was so giddily complicit, is the accusations quickly spiraled into complete lunacy, because of the frothing hatred for Bill and for Hillary among the right wing and among the press at large. In no time at all we were awash in a world where Bill and Hillary were supposed to be going around ordering hits and acting like they were out of a General Hospital episode from 1979. There was no time to sit around and parse over these claims because they were all tied into one thick knot that was impossible to pull apart. Bill Clinton is no longer in power, he never will be again. I wish I could say I'm surprised that the press - and the usual cadre of navel-gazing, hand-wringing liberals - have decided to make him a big story, but clearly they just can't quit him and they can't quit Hillary.
  11. Sadly I think this is Trump reigned in.
  12. Apparently his middle name is Jack but the scene mentioning that was deleted. I have a feeling he won't be Robert's in the end.
  13. They sing at their wedding reception. (which is also my favorite musical moment on ATWT)
  14. I would laugh if I didn't know how well this will work.
  15. I watched some of WWHL with Xscape. The tension between Kandi and Tamika was so thick, I just couldn't stop cringing. Kandi seemed to be tense with everybody. Andy was in seventh heaven with the tension and the gossip - he was just beaming, like he'd just learned Santa Claus is real.
  16. Poor Connie. She had so much pain in her life - including a lot after this interview. A former One Tree Hill writer is accusing the show's creator of harassment. Many cast members (seems to be female cast members) back her up. He now does The Royals. http://deadline.com/2017/11/one-tree-hill-the-royals-creator-mark-schwahn-accused-sexual-harassment-by-oth-writer-audrey-wauchope-1202207461/
  17. Thanks. I really miss Gerald...
  18. This is Gerald Anthony, isn't it?
  19. John Oliver had a segment yesterday focusing on "whataboutery." It seems very apt. It starts about 6 minutes in.
  20. A pretty good article asking why no one cares about black women who have been assaulted. https://www.thedailybeast.com/in-the-post-weinstein-world-do-black-victims-matter
  21. The camera's a distance back but he really does look about the same. Wow. It took me a while to realize he wasn't with Al Franken.
  22. Disgusting. https://www.newyorker.com/news/news-desk/locals-were-troubled-by-roy-moores-interactions-with-teen-girls-at-the-gadsden-mall I can't remember who here mentioned the blogger with no experience in a courtroom who will soon be a federal judge, but it gets even more ridiculous: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/13/us/politics/trump-judge-brett-talley-nomination.html?_r=0
  23. Yes. I think he means Crystal Hunt.
  24. I think Ben Shapiro is smug, narrow-minded, bigoted, and awash in pseudo-intellectualism that leaves him with no room to breathe, but lately I have watched some of his Youtube podcasts, mostly just as background noise. The last one I saw was about Roy Moore, where he said he thought Moore should drop out and seemed to believe the allegations against him. I went to the comments section, which usually has a lot of mindless "libtard" type comments and "Ben for President" nonsense, and about 90% of it was bile against him. I mean bile. People using anti-Semetic slurs against him. So much more. Just vile stuff. For all the talk of how the right allows debate while the left is against "free speech," the right is actually more and more beholden to the worst viewpoints imaginable, and ANYTHING that ever goes against this is met with a heavy fist.
  25. I really thought he was going to stick by Moore to the end. If (to be honest I think it's "when") Moore wins, if he doesn't drop out before then, he's going to make life hell for McConnell.
